      I not only don’t mind the longer ones, I prefer them. I love watching the piece come to life, beginning to end. And I find your commentary entertaining and educational! I’m sure it’s a ton of work, but my vote is keep the long videos coming!!! Short ones mid-week is a bonus, but I love my Friday hour-long hit of Jim.

    • @valeriefuqua4641
      @valeriefuqua4641 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@greenmanjnj I prefer them too! I kinda miss the stuff that's cut out, but I understand needing to reach a happy medium for those that are wanting to see the finished piece and can't wait. I mean, we live in the age of microwaves, instant messaging and fast food. People don't WAIT for things anymore.
      I want him to be successful. I vote he do what's best for his channel so we can keep seeing his awesome pieces! It's nice he does really abbreviated stuff for those with zero attention span so the rest of us can watch the progression.

    Very nice Jim: they will be a happy couple when they see the bowl for real. Now they know how it was made. The resin actually looks like outer space, to me. The burl has a really nice grain to it. Outstanding job on the project. I bet the final weight is a lot less than the start weight. Take care and stay safe. PS: maybe do a project with a bunch of captive blackflies in it.

    It’s beautiful. I missed the Premiere & I was up this time. I’m going to check my settings. Edit: you should ask other creators who deal with metals what they use for a cheaper stand in for white gold. Like diamonds can be replaced with cubic zirconia or crystal or glass. There’s probably a workable substitute for white gold

    • @SpragueWoodturning
      @SpragueWoodturning  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m assuming that most would say aluminum. Keep in mind I need to either cut it back with the gouge or sand it. They can grind and I can to some extent. One issue would be the metal getting too hot then releasing from the glue or resin. This has happened to me in the past. Thanks for the suggestion!

    One of the reasons I like your channel is the fact that you show your mistakes, and boy you had a few this week. Yet somehow you still produce an amazing piece of art.
    When I saw “the blob”, it reminded me of the movie, and I bet it was just as scary when you first saw it too. I suspect you couldn’t show us that reaction. Too many bleeps. Lol
    I can’t believe you pulled it off, but somehow you pulled it off, and it is one of the best colour separation yet.
    I wish the happy couple many years of happiness and martial bliss, or at least till they have kids. Wishing can only do so much. Lol
    In all seriousness, I wish them well and may this bowl always remind them of their special day for many years to come.
    Jim, I have found that every so often, I have to unsubscribe and resubscribe my favourite channels. Otherwise I’ll stop getting alerts for new videos, even though I have your channel on full bell.
    PS. I’m righting this as the Leafs are warming up for game five. Please God, please, give the Leafs a break. If not for them, then for the fans. We’ve been waiting far to long without Lord Stanley’s Cup. Go Leafs 🍁🇨🇦

    Jim, I own a Robust Sweet 16 lathe. It is the best engineered lathe that I have found. It allows a section of the bed to be removed and placed at 90 degrees to access the backside of large pieces (up to 32"). There are videos that demo its features, but using the lathe is necessary to appreciate....

    I haven't had any weird TH-cam issues. I've just found that, for my life, it's more convenient to show up, watch a bunch of videos, then disappear a while. Regularity is simply unnatural for me.
    But I can see how the TH-cam issues might be problematic for you. That's really frustrating. I really look forward to your videos, so when I want to watch them, I just click your name from my sub list or go to an old internet tab on one of your vids (I'll often have several open). Then I just check what new stuff you have out and have fun!
    Beautiful bowl! I do agree, white gold is a very light kind of metal, and it turned out a pretty deep grey in this bowl. But rings are made of many types of metal, and some people really love silver! I see nothing wrong with calling it a silver ring in the bowl!
    Love the colors you picked. They really go together well, and that burl makes beautiful music with your resins!

I still have these paperweights 😊🥰💟💟 This was just my hobby back then but not serious, beautiful works of art like you do 🙂 I thinks back then, the hobby kits were made from an acrylic mixture you had to mix quick, tap mold on table to rid of air bubbles and let set all night before removing from the mold. 42:00 I think it looks gorgeous 💜💜💜💙 It reminds me of abalone.
