11:30 The sad thing about Toshiba is they were _briefly_ a great laptop company then something changed and they became horrible. They were one of the first companies to put a USB drive on their machines. You couldn't even *buy* USB devices yet but the laptops they sold had the ports. Their customer service was downright freaky. We were living in China and Toshiba somehow *tracked us down* and gave my dad a gift card because many of the zip drives on that model were defective and that line of drives was recalled. For the record, ours was not one of the bad ones. It worked fine. It was a few years later that there was a change and they spiraled downhill. Sadly as we were in China and this was the year 2000 we didn't have a way to actually _spend_ the gift card. Net loss of zero though.
The guy who posted that here. As it turns out that's actually my second laptop. My first laptop was also Toshiba and was really good, so when I went to buy the one shown one I went with the same company, not realizing that their quality had tanked in the years since I got my first one...

Lexi, the reason for why you would beat up your sibling is to either vent anger (if you're a bad person) or to playfully roughhouse. If you have a sibling who was a bit more rough-&-tumble, this is a pretty good way to wear them out as long as you don't actually hurt them. That said, beating somebody in the head with an IPAD is WAY too far
Yep, one can playfight and one can gently BONK with an iPad (carefully!!) but one absolutely cannot use an iPad as a cartoon-style knock-out weapon without damage to the iPad, sibling head, and/or relationship

I'm pretty sure I know what happened to that RAM! The stick is labeled as DDR3L, and it was most likely put into a DDR3 slot! It doesn't appear as a huge difference (1.5 vs 1.35), but as far as scale, that's outside of a safe margin of error.

The solder resistor is definitely a shop. You can tell the lead is actually melting (and the actual resistor lead wouldn't), and also doesn't connect properly to the resistors, and you can tell around his fingers where they were originally holding some solder.

i love how educated lexi is in all of these videos! i love her so so much omg, it’s fun and educational for all of us!
@ 14:13 i want to say the corrosion is caused by gallium since the phone appears to be made of aluminum
I honestly love listening to Lexi talking about tech stuff
It's not even night and I'm exhausted, but hearing Lexi made my day just so much better.
TIL about magnetic screens. I have a dust problem. I did NOT KNOW there was such a thing. I've got like... 3 cans of compressed air sitting nearby for monthly cleans trying to protect my pc from blowing up. MAGNETIC SCREEEEEEEEEEEENS
These videos finally got me to clean my laptop fans after not really giving it a second thought- While it wasn't a TERRIBLE amount of buildup it definitely looked bad and my laptop will probably be much happier now.

my old computer melted through the wifi card at the beginning of lockdown. i spent one and a half years doing online zoom lessons on a 50cm ethernet cable that sometimes just stopped working out of spite.

My 12gb of 667mhz ram would agree

6:01 YES I remember that video. I think RayWilliamJohnson even covered on =3 back in the day. If not, I don't remember where I first seen it. I also saw the full clip back then, of the dad going and getting the laptop, bringing it outside, going on about his speech, and just shooting it.

11:32 I had this laptop! Lasted a decade until it cracked at the hinge. Still operated perfectly otherwise, but I decided it was finally time to upgrade.
Ok what the fuck, i also had this laptop and it cracked at the hinge after about 9 years of using it.

01:55 Actually... thats, not as crazy as it looks. Tweezers are metal, those'll get hot. I dont think this claw would, or not nearly as quickly?
Insect claws are made of a material called Chitin. It's basically magic.
ThoughtEmporium (the guy who successfully gmo-ed himself to not have lactose intolerance) has a very nice few videos about it.
Chitosan (a derivative of chitin) is likely the part in starlite that can shield from temperatures of over 3000°F. Chitin is better than chitosan, and so lobster claws are cheaper and better than chitosan tweezers.
2:00. Well, as far as my IT class I’m in right now claims, a damaged disk is still recoverable to an extent. The only true way to truly destroy a drive is to entirely break the disk or to wipe it magnetically, since any amount of the disk can still be read if intact. If this isn’t true, then my class is teaching me lies
3:46 I hear 2 other people in the background just as confused on how someone managed to mangle that pc
thank you lexi for having the correct opinion on hp computers. i have 2 identical hp laptops and they are both the worst laptops i have ever had the displeasure to use. for some reason, hp thought it was perfectly fine to have only 32 GB of storage on the laptop, 20 GB of which is taken up by windows 10.
Funny story: this one time, my phone battery started bulging and it wouldn't charge. My case fell off, along with the entire back cover part of the phone and I couldn't get them back on. So, to fix it, my uncle stabbed the battery. After the liquid stopped coming out, it worked just fine. Its battery just has a hole now. I also got a new phone 3 days after that.

14:33 I had a Microsoft phone, one day I went into a shop with it and when I came out I checked it and the screen was cracked, never figured out how it did that one. Still works just fine other than the cracked screen, although now I use an LG G8. It was a one of them Nokia / Microsoft phones, in a draw somewhere, should probably find it and take the battery out just in case as I was unaware of phone battery’s being such a problem before. Also talking about software issues as I was writing this comment my iPad turned off saying it was on 5% then when it came back on which was a second later after it turned off and I put the cable in it’s now saying it’s at 26% so that’s strange.

2:40 That happened to my brother's phone, to some degree, after he dropped it on the sidewalk. It was only HALF that bad, though. You'd think he would be more careful with his phone after that, right? Nooooooooo. After getting a new phone, he hits his old phone wit a hammer. In the GARAGE that I walk BAREFOOT in to put bags filled with cat crap in the garbage (also putting my school stuff in the car. I never have enough time to put shoes on until I am in the car with my seatbelt on.) I VERY NARROWLY avoided stepping on HUGE CHUNKS OF GLASS for almst 5 MONTHS after that. It's been almost a year, and I still see chunks of phone glass on the floor. (Not helped my the fact that I dropped a glass container, which promptly shattered on the cement floor.)
