    The really fun thing about the whole "The holocaust wouldn't have happened with the Second Amendment" thing is that the Nazis were, generally speaking, very much in favour of gun ownership. The ideal man according to Nazi ideology was also an ideal soldier, and that meant knowing his way around a gun and own one to practice with and have at the ready.
    Of course, they didn't want persecuted minorities owning guns, but neither does the alt right.

    • @Diviance
      @Diviance 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +67

      That is also not to mention that the current interpretation of the 2nd amendment did not exist during the 2nd world war. The NRA formed their lobbying branch around the 30's and it wasn't until the 70's that their lobbying to change the 2nd amendment interpretation started picking up speed.
      So, the 2nd amendment literally did not apply except to literal militias, as the authors intended, prior to 80's. Which kind of destroys their whole claim, as the 2nd amendment wouldn't have done a thing about it.

      One of the first things Hitler did upon gaining power was loosen gun regulations. The only firearm restrictions he introduced applied solely to Jewish people (a bit like the NRA favouring gun regulation when it came to the Black Panthers).

    • @HighAsHeckPriestess
      @HighAsHeckPriestess 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      They forget that slaves were not protected by the second amendment, and couldn't own firearms (or learn any self defense). Further than that, California cracked down on gun laws in the 1970s (most important ones regarding open carry and which weapons civilians could carry) because the Black Panthers and other organizations were carrying openly to defend Black folks in a newly desegregated nation.

      YES! Im nb but I'm agab (a girl at birth) and was raised as a woman, alot of me wearing short shirts in my later teen years was bc I wanted to "rebel" against creepy older men like my (at the time) stepdad. I didnt want their gazes and my past trauma to dictate what I could and couldn't wear, it felt like then the creeps of the world would win by pressuring me to hide myself like I was inherently shameful or lewd, when I was just existing. In my mind, wearing a mini skirt or even just shorts above the knee, was me saying "fuck you, you can't control me, you cant scare me, I wont fucking let you, Im not gonna do this for YOU mf".
      And the best part? It led to me trying out different clothing and finding my own style, and feeling more confident bc of it. And bc of THAT my little sister started feeling more confident in what she wore too. 😊

The draft also expressed alarm that the number of people lacking access to adequate food rose by 320 million to 2.4 billion in 2020 - nearly one-third of the world's population.” ^^
      it is also mentioned in the united nations digital library! look up: The right to food : resolution / adopted by the General Assembly
      and if you need a third source, it is mentioned in the UN press! look up: Third Committee Approves 11 Drafts Covering Use of Mercenaries, Women in Rural Areas, Unilateral Coercive Measures amid Sparring over Right to Food
      “In other action, the Committee approved a draft on the right to food by a recorded vote of 180 in favour to 2 against (Israel, United States), with no abstentions, expressing alarm that in 2020, the number of people lacking access to adequate food rose by 320 million ‑ to 2.4 billion ‑ amounting to nearly a third of the world’s population, and that between 720 million and 811 million people faced hunger.”
      a spokesperson for US has explained why in this following article: Explanation of Vote of the Third Committee Adoption of the Right to Food Resolution
      “This resolution rightfully acknowledges the hardships millions of people are facing, and importantly calls on States to support the emergency humanitarian appeals of the UN. However, the resolution also contains many unbalanced, inaccurate, and unwise provisions the United States cannot support. This resolution does not articulate meaningful solutions for preventing hunger and malnutrition or avoiding their devastating consequences.
      The United States is concerned that the concept of “food sovereignty” could justify protectionism or other restrictive import or export policies that will have negative consequences for food security, sustainability, and income growth. Improved access to local, regional, and global markets helps ensure food is available to the people who need it most and smooths price volatility. Food security depends on appropriate domestic action by governments, including regulatory and market reforms, that is consistent with international commitments.”

Instead, we had toilets that were a small room with an actual door. The only times I’ve seen bathrooms with stalls separated for women and men has been in like, a mall, on an airport and similar stuff, because there’s like ten+ stalls due to the amount of people there and they have the space I guess. But it’s absolutely not the norm.
      These people are beyond ridiculous, and at this point I assume that their IQ is lower than the hottest summer days here. What do they think, that a trans person is gonna walk in, rip their pants off and flash people?
      So far, the only stories I’ve seen has been about cis-women attacking other cis-women because they didn’t look feminine enough, no matter if it’s an adult or a teen. *They* are the ones making it unsafe and at this point I’m just waiting to hear about how one of these women who “can always tell” has sexually assaulted someone by forcing their pants off or something. It’s not even a question of *if* it happens anymore.

But the next county over had a massive issue where ALL their ballot counters were out of commission, so counting was extended 2 days while their ballots were processed manually. Neighboring counties were all sending clerks to assist, and we did manage to process the lot by about 10 pm with a little camaraderie and a lot of catering. Shit happens, and there's A LOT of people. The voting clerks work as quickly as they can, but we're only human, after all.

      Wages are also lower in Texas. So much so that the actual cost of living difference between California and Texas is a fraction of a percent. California costs more to live in... but they also pay a whole lot better. And vice versa. Texas is cheaper... but companies pay a whole lot less.
      And with more and more people moving into Texas, soon they are going to be paying a whole lot less but that low cost is going to skyrocket. Especially electricity (which has already skyrocketed).

    17:13 it may not be free but in other countries medicine is way more obtainable and cheaper. It's because of American drug companies lobbying and just American culture in general that we have to pay absurd amounts for medication.
    Edit: The way to make insulin was sold for a dollar and it only costs 2-4 dollars to make, but they sell it for upwards of 200 dollars, our government could easily pay for that stuff for us with our tax money if prices weren't exponentially bigger than they needed to be. These companies would benefit weather or not they sold it cheaper or not but they make more profit if it's harder to buy. They'd make it 10,000 dollars if they would still be able to make sales from that.

      It took a lot of digging as the industry tries to keep it hidden but I eventually found out that paracetamol (Acetaminophen) cost less than 10 US dollars to produce, tablet and package 2,000 500 mg tablets. I'm not sure how long ago this was, several years at least. Maybe it's 2 or 3 times that now. The percentage profit margin from factory to retail was approximately the same as buying multiple kilos of heroin in Pakistan, smuggling it to the UK, cutting it and selling by the quarter ounce. The person writing the article, part of the pharmaceutical industry, said that was for factories in developed countries and was cheaper for a factory in India for example. It's not a medicine as such but the wholesale price of caffeine in 2012 was 36 U.S dollars per kilo. Admittedly nobody is spending 100s of dollars a week on paracetamol but that is a good profit. Retail prices based on UK and Ireland.

    17:11 things like medicine are expensive only because we lack regulations that put caps on life-saving medicines. americans have to deal with that, when people in other countries don't. if the cost was folded under the government, then it would be very easy to just force the companies to sell at production costs. use the taxes to pay for it, we could take some out of the "subsides big businesses" budgets or the police force budgets. the police don't need tear gas, also if they just fired the bad cops and blacklisted them, then they will have a much smaller lawsuit budget need too.
    but anyway, i would love to have universal healthcare and be willing to pay for that in taxes.

    17:30 ish: It's fucking wild to me living in the UK because as bad as the NHS is run sometimes. When my uncle was diagnosed with throat cancer last year, he didn't have to pay. They installed multiple rigs to allow him to digest stuff without throwing anything he swallowed back up, his intense chemo and radiotherapy at the beginning of the year, the multiple times he's been prescribed health shakes and anti sickness tablets- I can't stress enough! -the only thing that he's had to pay is the cost of any cabs he's had to take to the hospital. It's absolutely *buckwild* to me that in the states you would have to pay for that.
    Fuck- my type 1 diabetic dad doesn't pay for his insulin or any other prescriptions! Certain individuals don't have to pay, and whilst I *do* for my monthly prescriptions of antidepressants and beta blockers.... It's capped at just over £9 per prescription. I pay under £20 a month for my meds, and there's apparently a card I can look into to get it reduced to like £10 a month?
    It is. Completely *fucking insane* to me that people go bankrupt over dying. It makes 0 sense to me. There is a better way.
    Even though the UK system definitely isn't the best, it's the reason my uncle is recovering now. It's fucking *nuts*.
