My computer class teacher used to fix computers and this woman came in saying the cup holder was broken and the pc was broken. Apparently she had used the cd drive to hold their cup and naturally the cd drive was not able to carry that weight and broke, tons of coffee spilled into the computer

I repair game consoles for work. We've had some impressively nasty consoles over the years. There are a couple in particular that stand out as the worst though. The first was a literally roached out PS3. It was filled with dead roaches. The other was one that someone had setup next to their cat's litterbox. There was water damage from cat pee in the console. After those consoles, we implemented a new policy. If I need to shower and deep clean my workspace after working on your console, we charge double.

I took the PC back to school and then slammed down the clear bag of mice and fapkins infront of him with the whole class looking... Not only was I disgusted and embarrassed to have worked on it, I bet this boy was extremely embarrassed for being exposed in front of the class!

It's a german computermaker which got known in the 2000s for beeing sold on the discounter ALDI and beeing surprisingly good for their price. One of my first stationary Rigs was one of those.
Okay so, a job I had shortly out of high school with a small business that makes candy. They decided that they needed to move to a larger location to be able to efficiently produce candy and to be fair they were in the bottom floor of what was essentially a New York brownstone. As we were packing we found a desktop computer and I was the only one with any sort of computer knowledge so it became my job to get into the thing. So we plugged it in and tried to turn it on and nope no power, so I popped the case off the tower and, I kid you not there was two inches of corn starch and sugar dust caked on everything in the tower. Took it and the monitor across the street to an auto-body shop to use their air compressor to blow it out and when we did get it to boot up it smelt like a bakery.

If this person had that particular keyboard layout installed in their OS settings, they can switch to it and get back to work until they can find the time to switch the keys back.
I used to be briefly in computer tech so a lot of these were interesting. But most of my crazy stories came from being a phone tech. My most favorite one was a guy called me on a business trip in Turkey when the worldwide Samsung Note 5 recalls came down And none of the airplanes would accept Note 5 on board. He called me here in the states and asked how was he supposed to get home without his phone. And I told him if the Turkish people wouldn't let them bring it on the plane, he would have to dump it (as they probably also wouldn't let him mail it either). But I had him follow up with me afterwards (to process the claim). And he told me he smuggled it past Turkish customs and the US customs back into the United states... Which that action is just normally reserved for highly illegal stuff, not cellphones, but Note 5 did tend to catch on fire. But for the guy to actually smuggle it past both Turkish customs and US customs to get it back into the states was interesting and wild 😜...

The best was when I offered a woman 13 cents for the time that Blackberry's data was down. I did the math and the time the system was down on 30-dollar-per-month data plan was 12.5 cents, which I rounded up. She asked for a supervisor. The supervisor offered her 12 cents because she rounded it down.

Cell phones used to be the same way. Flip phones, even the side-flipping ones with full keyboards, would still work when broken in half at the hinge.

14:56 Looks like someone poured acetone or probably a stronger solvent on the monitor and it just melted everything it touched. If it wasn't on purpose it might have been a particularly strong solvent to that type of plastic that someone splashed on their monitor planning to clean it. Just that splashing part sounds like a dumb idea, but so does using a random cleaning liquid on your monitor.
Looks less like acetone than actual acid, if it was acetone then there'd be the keyboard's circuit board visible

For those curious, Medion is Aldi's/Hofer's "computer brand". They sell several generation old hardware, act as if it is the latest and greatest at the best possible price. They're also extremely prone to hardware defects.
