311 is one of the hardest working bands in the industry. They have carved out a spot for themselves. They have been touring almost non stop since 94

I’ve listened to 311 since 95 and Mosaic is my favorite album. I can listen to it from beginning to end and never get bored of it. I could honestly listen to every album in a row and not skip at the most 10 songs and 3 being on Voyager.

Mosaic brought me back into the fold. I was a bit out on Universal Pulse and missed out entirely on Stereolithic when it came out. Saw them on the Mosaic tour and it was like a light switch was flipped. Looking back, Universal Pulse dislike was more of a me thing than a they thing. Listening to it now, I can hear the beauty of the album.

Appreciate your fair assessment, especially given that you haven't heard them in some time. I didn't know what to expect when the album released. Got to see them debut You're Gonna Get It at 311 day this year and thought, "WOW!". Hit me in the face like a freight train. It's so good to see quality reviews of their work as I feel they've been under appreciated for three decades. I certainly suggest you check out their newer work in the 2010's with Universal Pulse, Stereolithic, Mosaic, and Voyager. All quality works.

I am a huge 311 fan. My first 311 show was in 2000. They became my favorite band around 2004. I have seen them close to 40 times. I have yet to buy their latest album, but I have everything else they have put out. I actually met my wife through the online 311 community. My top 5 311 albums are Grassroots, Sound System, Transistor, Mosaic, and From Chaos

Thanks for the great review. It's definitely impressive this band is still intact after all these years, and still producing top notch albums to this day. Like you said, music always evolves when people get older, and the evolution of 311 has been great. Not as heavy, but much more polished and professional, with the right mix of heaviness and smoothness. I would definitely check out the first 2 albums that came out before the self titled blue album. Hands down their best work on those 2! Keep on livin and rockin!

Check out their follow-up to the blue self titled album, 1997's Transistor. It's like their "Dark Side of the Moon". Over 20 tracks of more experimental stuff from them. Most consider it their best. Their second album Grassroots is also flawless, with a lot more hip hop.

Been into their music since ‘Music’ and before ‘Grassroots’. I always love new 311, and jam their new stuff often, so it makes memories for years down the road. Not every track on most artists’ albums is a ‘hit’, obviously, but I do like this new album a lot so far. There is some ‘filler’, but there is definitely some ‘killer’ on this one. I love this band.

Blue Album, Grassroots, Don't Tread on Me, Transistor, Sound System were all so unique, artistic, catchy, that they blew my mind. That made Uplifter a bummer for me, but my expectations for 311 are probably way too high.
Overall, one of the best bands ever with talent on every instrument. You might check out Nicks album with George Clanton called "Crash pad". 🎸✌️

311 had some infighting and tension going on in the band back in 2022, but they made up and made a lot of changes for the better. The result, this album. The song friend is a reflection of that whole moment of tension and the realization that they never really wanted to let go of this band

This is their most mellow album. Mosaic from 2017 is their best modern album. Rich and diverse rock styles. But this Full Bloom album has gotten better and better as I listen. I like it a lot even if it isn't quite a favorite of theirs for me.

I've been following 311 since the blue album and this album is definitely on the softer side of what they've produced. I think this album is a bit of a mixed bag, like I've generally favored the heavier tracks and after Nick's comments about this album being "311 on steroids" I thought that we'd be getting more of that, especially after You're Gonna Get It was released as the lead single. I do feel like a lot of the album is well written and the songs have meaning which is something I look for when 311 goes soft. I might appreciate this one more over time but I'd probably rank it somewhere in the 8 to 12 range out of the 14 albums.

    • @jcrockandmetalreviews
      @jcrockandmetalreviews  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks. Yeah, it seemed a lot lighter than what I remember from their self-titled album, but it was still not too bad.

Each album is distinct. There's quite a lot of new territory on Full Bloom.
I'm kind of disappointed that you haven't seemed to listen to any 311 album other than the "blue" album.
I mean, if you were jumping on when "Down" caught on, or "All mixed up" was on rotation, and you didn't come across anything on Transistor not long after that it's almost like someone was alive in 1994 and now in 2024 they got something to add now.
And it's all good, swing the thing you bring, right?

I agree but voyager was decent but not as good as stereolithic and mosaic. They all have a lot of heavy songs with those three the new album is very soft and poppy I think that’s why some ppl are disappointed with it. Although for me it seems to have more replay-ability than voyager so far.
