I think it ties into what he said last season, how he doesnt have the privilege to freak out and throw a temper tantrum when things go wrong for multiple reasons. When the ship is about to crash into rocks he has to remain calm, composed, and handle it effectively. Homelander cant do that

@@adhirg Yeah, I get that. If that really is what he's talking about, of course it drives the point home pretty well. But having an upper pressure of 80 still sounds like you would pass out every time you stand up 😂
I love how Edgar was barely acknowledging Homelander when he’s going off about his leave of absence lol. Stan is totally right, Homelander wants his attention and you can see it gets to him when Stan isn’t even looking at him 😂 it’s only once he brings up Victoria Edgar answers him
Bingo. He's absolutely bored with Homelander, barely even giving him the time of day. It's adding insult to injury when he talks about Vicky with pride
What I really love about this scene in the beginning is you can clearly see Homelander trying to find different ways to get under Stan’s skin. His facial expressions, the smugness and quick eye darts over to Stan after he finishes any of his cheap attempts to hurt him are so telling. But unlike Homelander, Stan doesn’t need his respect and isn’t scared of him. You could see in Homelander’s face right before he said “don’t blame Vicky” his expression dropped a little, because he could tell what he was saying still wasn’t bothering Stan in the slightest, so he had to go for the closest thing he had for a daughter. And even there, Stan instead was impressed rather than hurt by Victoria’s actions. Absolutely love the details in this scene and the show in general.
@David B but Homelander doesn't need to see Stan to hear his heart rate. He couldn't see Stan's face at the beginning of this scene due to Stan facing away from him, yet he said his heart rate was 80/60. He was looking to see if his face gave anything away and also listening to his heart rate, but neither shifted, hence his smug expression dropping and he kept digging deeper to get to him.
Homelander is so transparent in his need to get some kind of rise out of Stan. He really is a like a child trash-talking on the playground. It's only reasonable for Stan to treat him like one, especially since Stan Edgar has been dealing with powerful people literally since before Homelander was born.
It’s interesting, Edgar doesn’t have a breakdown over bad product like in the comic, which happened at the end of the series. I kind of appreciate Stan since he does have a point over how HL now has nobody to cover for him, except for Ashley, which obviously won’t last long. Despite this episode’s ending, there’s hope for HL being taken down. There’s still people out there who want his blood and still want to try to spill it.
I dont think this is supposed to be the end. There's no way they wouldn't use the panel with homelander outside his office for a scene, especially with the actors involved. I think Edgar will eventually return before the series ends and then we'll get a proper confrontation after he loses it and goes full dictatorship.
A major difference is that Edgar has been pretty explicit throughout S2 and S3 that Supes aren't the product; compound V and Temp V are. Edgar's wet dream would be to get rid of all the Supes and start selling Temp V to the government in bulk.
@@RealCrisFormage He doesn't really have a "breakdown" he simply loses but still keeps his professional demeanor, albeit in a more defeated manner. Even when Homelander confronts him in the end, as he berates Homelander, he just looks like he's empty inside.
Seriously, though, maybe he took Compound V, and has powers and we just don't know about it. Maybe he has a power like powerful influence for example. Just never revealed it. Would fit his character and explain why he is so relaxed around sups.
@@mitochondrium2648 he probably just looks at them like you would an anime figurine or some funko pops lol because that's exactly what the seven is: novelty items
That would actually be a great twist if Edgar was a supe all along but was just so disciplined as to never use his powers, not until a life-or-death situation arose.
I love how Edgar took it like a champ. No mental breakdown, no crying, no blaming the others. Instead, he keeps it cool. He always has many plans and he's even shutting Homelander down. He knows Homelander will be break someday and he's only counting the time. Right now, he will enjoy his retirement and waiting for Homelander to have his own downfall.
Homelander genuinely enjoys people who aren't afraid of him. They're so rare in his life (only Butcher and Edgar) that he seems to like speaking with them. They're the only people whom he shows actual respect for - he asks Butcher's permission to come into his home (as opposed to just entering Newman's home) and he lets Edgar openly insult him (compared to threatening to kill A Train for insulting him behind his back). Since Maeve also stood up to him, he seemed to speak to her more as an equal (even though he took her prisoner), and it'll be interesting to see how his dynamic with Starlight also changes.
"Play both sides" and the "respect" lines were key He's going to work with the government to organize the takedown of home lander and Voght Vic is still on his side because he does respect the hell out of her and she learned well from him. He also knows home lander doesn't understand what respect really is not how us humans do at least. Season 3 end will be a surprise for sure
It does make sense of him being a spoilt brat he could never be disciplined or told no as a kid as those who would most likely be killed by homelander so he would always get his way but as an adult he knows that the things he wants he needs others to do so he can't just kill anyone who stands in his was
I thought he was going to laser him right as he walked out the door. What's so childish about Homelander is that after all these years of working with Edgar he still thinks he can get a rise out of him or trigger some negative emotion. Stan Edgar didn't get to where he's at by losing his decorum.
Edgar pretty much replaces Stillwell from the comics as the unfeeling businessman Homelander hates but can't bring himself to kill. HL needs them to fear/respect/worship him, and the fact that he doesn't, HL can't kill him until he does
Homelander CAN'T kill him because if he does Stan still wins lmao it's amazing how he has all that power but it's literally brains over brawn. When Homelander loses his shit eventually, Stan is STILL going to be safe because Homelander CANNOT, at all cost of his ego, prove Stan right.
Homelander has vast physical power, but he's trying to match Stan Edgar on his playing field, the psychological level. Stan is by far his superior there.
Homelander getting a dose of reality, he gets so lost in his ego until he’s reminded where he comes from and why he exists. I think both actors play their role incredibly well.
This is the second time Homelander thought he did a great thing and tried to rub it in Edgar's face, only for Edgar to calmly explain him his triumph doesn't means shit and what a moron he is for believing it is a win.
I can't tell if the shudder at 1:06 is either: Homelander cracking a joke at how dark and poetic Edgar was with his statement and choice of words. Or Anthony Starr shuddering at how chilling his fellow cast member delivered that line. I mean come on, it's Giancarlo insulting you with a scathingly straight face.
It’s Homelander basically just saying Ohh what a cold response that was, but the mocking tone implies he’s not hurt by the words at least that’s the impression he wants to give off. That’s just my 2 cents on it tho
He's definitely posturing. He wants to appear unfazed by Edgar's comment there but the fact that he even reacted at all to it is why Stan won. Every single needling comment Homelander makes in this scene falls on deaf ears. Stan absolutely does not give a shit about Homelander or what he could do. Whereas Homelander truly is weighing his entire ego on Stan's view of him. He wants a reaction, he tries to play on Stan's level by fighting with words, and he still gets utterly decimated, because at the end of the day, he still cares, while Stan doesn't.
I wouldn’t be surprised. He probably saw the writing on the wall and knew Homelander would escalate and wanted to GTFO when the getting was still good.
This episode was called "The Wonderful 5 year Plan" yet we never heard anything about said plan. The one instance about it way earlier in the season when Edgar said he was planning on leaving behind superheroes as a business in 5 years. What happened in this episode? Edgar was thrown out Vaught cutting his ties with the superhero business. This wasn't Edgar being played and betrayed, this is the first step in his plan to make a company that doesn't need superheroes at all. He is on top of things and no one can see it.
Agreed. I could be wrong but I think he had Vic pretend to be against him while he pretended to be shocked while on camera in order to fool Homelander. After the company is fucked by Homelander with Ashley taking the blame as CEO, he'll come back like a knight in shining armour to restore the company back to glory. By the end of Homelanders coup, most of the permanent supes will be dead or retired which will remove all of the flawed product from Voughts lineup. Leaving only the Temp V and the multi-billion dollar military contracts as their new income source.
The title - glorious five year plan - is a reference to the comic's superhero team of soviet union heroes, called 'the glorious five year plan' and named after the shift of industrialization under Joseph Stalin. The title probably refers to how the Boys go to russia. That said, I could see your theory being correct as said superhero team don't exist in the boys show, as far as we can tell, because the only member to appear is one of the inmates in the supe facility we saw in season 2.
Edgar is all alone with the world's most powerful psycho-sup, but he's not intimidated one bit and humiliates Homelander. Definitely one of my favorite scenes from The Boys.
Actually, that would probably be the hardest way. With his senses Homelander can tell right away if you're only acting. Vicky tried that on him and he shut her down immediately. Stan Edgar really doesn't care, or at least he would accept the reality without regret. And that's a rare breed of man indeed.
@danieldickson8591 Yeah Homelander can definitely hear her heart beat everytime he threatens her. Probably can't hear Sister Sage or Barbara since they truly don't care.
In Homelander's eyes, he perceives himself as a God, but here stands a man, that by all physical standards is average at best and yet the shadow he casts over Homelander makes him feel insignificant. It is so satisfying to see Edgar putting Homelander in his place, but let's not forget the fact that Edgar is responsible for creating such a monster in the first place.
The moment that I love, when Homelander is walking by him talking about how he was previously intimidated, and Edgar just looks back at him with a contemptuous smirk.
I think Homelander understands that this is a game between him and Edgar, no one gets under his skin quiet like Gus does and to kill him would be to admit defeat, his ego would never recover because Edgar strength isn’t superpowers, it’s the power of his fearlessness. And to a narcissist like Homelander, stripping away that bravado is the only way he’ll feel satisfied with that win.
to quote Team Four Star "why do you antagonize him like that? you know how easily he can kill you right?" "At this point it's a game. if he gives in, i win. and he knows that."
"When have you ever done anything remotely interesting or original? What have you thought to do that the lowest speck of this pointless species couldn't, were they to be granted your level of power?" Originally, that was one of Stillwell's quotes. Stan Edgar may not have said the exact words, but the sheer disrespectful tone of this dialogue remains the same. Whether a hero or a villain, Homelander sees himself as worthy of recognition, and without that recognition he's a nervous wreck.
Maybe, but he absolutely loves Butcher's presence. Butcher and everything he does feeds his ego because everything Butcher does is to sabotage or hurt him and inherently it's all about him. It's an inevitability but the sheer attention Butcher gives Homelander pleases him dearly even if he's the reason his son is away from him
The end was perfect. Homelander was holding that smile trying to convince himself that he's unfazed by what Edgar said. But deep down, he really really is fazed!
I feel like Edgar is stepping out of the way to avoid getting blamed for when this all goes to hell. He can't be blamed for something if he was never even a part of it after all. I don't think Edgar even knows exactly what will happen. He just knows something WILL happen and left himself open to get pushed out so he looks totally innocent. Edgar doesn't seem like the sort of person to let someone get one over on him. It's almost like he's leaving on his own terms. He's not upset at all. Like Homelander said he's just mildly musing as he looks out the window. Like nothing has even happened.
Everyone is like "ooh Edger has a plan up his sleeve!" His plan is to sit back and enjoy the show while Homelander drives Vought into the fucking ground. Lmao.
Love how @ 0:24 Homelander tries to bait Edgar into reacting to him but when he sees that it doesnt work he gets annoyed an tries to talk about Victoria.
Giancarlo Esposito is excellent at portraying these meticulous, powerful, egoistic men. First with Gus and now we see him here with Stan Edgar. Great acting from him
I love the display of power between the two. Homelander's powers can make him strong in the sense that he doesn't have to worry about being severely hurt or killed, but he's nothing without them. While Edgar has a different kind of strength that doesn't need power of any sort. It definitely comes in handy but he's a man of strong will, determination, confidence, and discipline. He literally stood up to a man who could tear him in half, and did so without showing weakness. He's not scared of being hurt or vulnerable because he's been through it, Homelander hasn't.
He was!! He respects players that know how to play the game. Someone that doesn’t let things like love, attachment, and emotions compromise their game.
That’s the second time Homelander went In with the nuclear option, and the second time Edgar told him “put away your fire cracker boy your embarrassing your self”
Stan Edgar is definitely my favorite character in the show. And I’m not gonna lie, I DEFINITELY see this actor as Lex Luthor. He may have voiced him in that Harley Quinn show. But he should play the live action version.
Pretty sure Vicky is the counterpart to comic Stillwell's girlfriend in which Stan will use her to eventually shift any and all blame from Vought onto her.
I'm pretty sure Vicky is the counterpart to Victor the Vice President AKA "Vic the VP". I think the show equivalent of James Stillwells girlfriend is Ashley
@@cruzl1182 Yeah maybe she ending go total crazy like the comics and blow her head for mistake or kill her daughter for mistake we know that she already kill her parents because of the instability of her powers
This scene has convinced me that Edgar definitely has a contingency plan for Homelander. No way you create something that evil and powerful without having a way to kill it in case it gets out of line.
This scene is incredible, and I have to say masterful misdirection/editing here. All the prior events of the episode and the prominence of Stan in this episode would tell most avid TV watchers that this is going to be his last episode. The choice of the final shot and the levels on the sound of the glass being set down are perfect (mostly cut out of this version on youtube). Every shot here is ramping up the tension, everyone in the audience (can't speak for comic readers, don't know anything about it) is waiting for Stan to go over the line with Homelander and be lasered in half. Stan keeps ramping up his disdain for Homelander, finally telling him he is "bad product", and walks out the room. The second last shot on Homelander shows his growing fury, and finally on the last shot, a wide profile on Stan as he sets his glass down and walks out the room. Even though that shot feels like the perfect time for an offscreen laser to suddenly obliterate Stan, he sets the glass down and that loud noise suddenly breaks all the tension as he walks out of the room. The audience is left dumbfounded that Stan, after losing a lot of his power in a single day and openly mocking and taunting Homelander to his face, somehow survived that conversation. Amazing stuff.
I know Edgar is a bad guy, but I freaking love him! He's just so unbothered by Homelander. When Homelander tries to intimidate Edgar or seeks a reaction out of him, Edgar just slices right through Homelander's indestructible skin with his words. His verbal insults are so good that I feel like I'm the one being burned.
The dude pushed a little girl to her death, did nothing to save people from a crashing place, manipulates and disrespects everyone in the seven, killed a Super Hero just because they were deaf and was going to be introduced to the Seven, etc. He's so freaking evil that Lex Luther would crap out a brick castle out of fear.
I like how Edgar didn't respond to Homelander until he mentioned Neuman. It shows he does care for her in some sense and Edgar really gave no crap about Homelander
Edgar isn't afraid of homelander because he knows even if homelander kills him , he won't get his respect or fear . Also , Edgar besides butcher are the only ones who aren't afraid of him . killing them won't make them respect him and there won't be anyone else to play with if he kills everybody , homelander would be completely alone if he did that .
Homelanders face is priceless as stan walks out-it just kills him that he can't frighten stan or get his respect, stan just so clearly sees through him. I love watching him just destroy homelander with only words and then watching homelander seething when stan just keeps owning him
In the original comic Stan Edgar was white however the choice of casting Giancarlo was brilliant he has so much experience from breaking bad and BCS of being a ruthless business man that the choice was easy to make.
Exposito is the perfect actor to play the James Stillwell character. Cold and cunning. Never once intimidated by homelander because he knows exactly how is mind works. He knows homelander could end his life like it was nothing
he is what Lex Luthor could be if he was more cold calculating and less ego. Lex Luthor would pretty much always win if he had the same calm disposition as Stan Edgar. Just as Homelander is like superman if superman had Lex Luthor's ego plus more parental issues
@@Marcel-gt4tp yeah this scene and that one are very reminiscent of each other, like Joffrey homelander believes he holds all the cards and like Tywin Edgar is like “ We ain’t even playing the same game get back to me when your on my level
Somehow it doesn't feel like Stan Edgar has lost a centimeter of control.... Feels like he's still pulling ALL of the strings and like everyone is merely his puppet.
Coming back to this scene after the latest episode really makes Stan Edgar seem so much more evil. He knew how Homelander was being tortured by Vogelbaum and the other scientists, and he approved. Now he has the nerve to call him bad product? John never had a chance to be anything but an emotionally stunted psychopath. Edgar became evil all by himself.
The fact that they psychologically engineered Homelander to constantly seek approval only adds to the reason Edgar doesn’t fear him, and why Homelander doesn’t hurt him. He’s just trying to prove himself, and it failed. And Stan was behind it.
I like that they still hold a torch to James Stillwell by personifying him through Stan Edgar. They even made the blood pressure reference like when Homelander is trying to intimidate him in the comics.

@@tepixel3315 heart rate is usually written as 1 number, not two. yes, 80/60 would be considered low, but that’s the point. Edgar is a CEO who remains calm under extreme pressure, it’s not a stretch that he has a below average blood pressure when he’s not stressed. and more to the point, Homelander’s presence does NOTHING to change that, which frustrates Homelander to no end.
@@adhirg Yeah, I get that. If that really is what he's talking about, of course it drives the point home pretty well. But having an upper pressure of 80 still sounds like you would pass out every time you stand up 😂
I definitely feel like part of the reason Edgar is calm is because he's relieved he doesn't have to lead this shitshow anymore
@@ThoseHorrorPalsNJ You're right to Edgar Homelander is just in his way. He's dealt with one before
What I really love about this scene in the beginning is you can clearly see Homelander trying to find different ways to get under Stan’s skin.
@@maliktp13 He means that it happened at the end of the comics
I really want to see James break down but the comic panel ain’t online I can’t find it
@@RealCrisFormage He doesn't really have a "breakdown" he simply loses but still keeps his professional demeanor, albeit in a more defeated manner. Even when Homelander confronts him in the end, as he berates Homelander, he just looks like he's empty inside.
This scene proved that Edgar also took Compound V but it only goes into his balls.
HAHAHAHHAHA!! nice.
Yeah that was nice
*Homelander has superpowers but Stan understands power...*
Stan Edgar has been dealing with powerful people literally since before Homelander was born.
I LOVE your comment
Homelander : You- You're pathetic.
Edgar : Didn't ask + ratio + a bad product speaking lol.
Homelander : 😭😭😭
LMAO
"Play both sides" and the "respect" lines were key
He's going to work with the government to organize the takedown of home lander and Voght
Vic is still on his side because he does respect the hell out of her and she learned well from him.
He also knows home lander doesn't understand what respect really is not how us humans do at least.
Season 3 end will be a surprise for sure
Everything about Homelander, every twitch, every bit of body-language, screams mean little boy.
Mean, needy, insecure little boy. He never really left that armored room he was raised alone in.
If he kill or harm stan at all, then he lose forever, and his ego wont let that happen, and stan knew it
“You are not a god… you are simply a bad product” Damn now that was DIABOLICAL 😈
Stan Edgar is one of those people that no matter what you try to do he’ll always be 50 moves ahead of you.
That's where he should have dropped them off the side of the building catched him and dropped him a dozen times
So Batman
"You're Simply Bad Product" What a zinger. Edgar still knows how to dish it out to Homelander.
one of he hardest insults
Homelander getting a dose of reality, he gets so lost in his ego until he’s reminded where he comes from and why he exists.
I think both actors play their role incredibly well.
This is the second time Homelander thought he did a great thing and tried to rub it in Edgar's face, only for Edgar to calmly explain him his triumph doesn't means shit and what a moron he is for believing it is a win.
@@korawitbuttramee618 yeah he loves being chaotic because he’s physically untouchable... emotionally he is someone else.
I can't tell if the shudder at 1:06 is either:
Homelander cracking a joke at how dark and poetic Edgar was with his statement and choice of words.
Wanted to look like it didn't bother him since he knows Edgar would talk that way so he brushed it off until he said he was bad product in general
I feel like he framed himself on purpose to get himself out of Vought but to have Homelander ruin their name
Exactly homelander is done for real
He did say that he intended to have nothing to do with the superhero business in 5 years
Also would be a great plan. Let Homelander ruin Vaught, to the point they beg Stan to come back.
@@Dr-Pepper15 Looks like he decided to speed up the process after seeing Homelander becoming unhinged.
I wouldn’t be surprised. He probably saw the writing on the wall and knew Homelander would escalate and wanted to GTFO when the getting was still good.
Homelander in this scene really feel like a little boy trying to get compliments from his dad
1:27 - Basically confirms what you said.
"What good would that do?
Where would it even go, but to the bottomless gaping pit of insecurity you call a soul".
COOKED
“You are not a god, you are simply.. bad product.”
Easily the coldest yet most badass line in the entire series.
I love how the easiest way to avoid homelander killing you is simply acting like you wouldn’t care if he did 😂
Actually, that would probably be the hardest way.
I like how everywhere else homelander is intimidating, but whenever he gets near Stan he goes from a pitbull to a wheaten terrier
Homelander just admitted he was intimidated by him,,,,, that’s a win for Edgar
If he cared for the win.
He knew Homelander was intimidated, he genuinely didn't care, he doesn't have the fear or love of Homelander that makes other people worship him
“You are not even pathetic you’re just nothing”
Yeah, imagine getting destroyed like that by “nothing”
The moment that I love, when Homelander is walking by him talking about how he was previously intimidated, and Edgar just looks back at him with a contemptuous smirk.
Here after Homelander regrets not having anyone to stand up to him
I think Homelander understands that this is a game between him and Edgar, no one gets under his skin quiet like Gus does and to kill him would be to admit defeat, his ego would never recover because Edgar strength isn’t superpowers, it’s the power of his fearlessness. And to a narcissist like Homelander, stripping away that bravado is the only way he’ll feel satisfied with that win.
to quote Team Four Star
"why do you antagonize him like that? you know how easily he can kill you right?"
"At this point it's a game. if he gives in, i win. and he knows that."
Gus lmao
@@TheCreepyLantern TFS
@@TheCreepyLantern The first thing I thought of after this scene.
Gus!? Where's finger
"When have you ever done anything remotely interesting or original? What have you thought to do that the lowest speck of this pointless species couldn't, were they to be granted your level of power?"
Originally, that was one of Stillwell's quotes. Stan Edgar may not have said the exact words, but the sheer disrespectful tone of this dialogue remains the same. Whether a hero or a villain, Homelander sees himself as worthy of recognition, and without that recognition he's a nervous wreck.
That lines at the end of the comics, I still have hope they make that scene in the last season 😊
Homelander's true weakness is people who do not fear him, it's almost like his kryptonite.
Maybe, but he absolutely loves Butcher's presence. Butcher and everything he does feeds his ego because everything Butcher does is to sabotage or hurt him and inherently it's all about him.
It's an inevitability but the sheer attention Butcher gives Homelander pleases him dearly even if he's the reason his son is away from him
His kryptonite is his reputation
The absolute best part of their interactions is that Homelander is constantly reading Edgar's vitals and can tell that Edgar isn't afraid.
The end was perfect. Homelander was holding that smile trying to convince himself that he's unfazed by what Edgar said. But deep down, he really really is fazed!
2:10 you can pause to the exact moment where his self respect and all personal worth is shattered
Everyone is like "ooh Edger has a plan up his sleeve!"
His plan is to sit back and enjoy the show while Homelander drives Vought into the fucking ground. Lmao.
Pretty much what is happening right now
Love how @ 0:24 Homelander tries to bait Edgar into reacting to him but when he sees that it doesnt work he gets annoyed an tries to talk about Victoria.
" you are simply a bad product" . Damn... Edgar roasted HL much more than his laser eyes could ever do.
Heaviest objects in the universe:
Sun
Gravity
Black Hole
Stan Edgar's Balls
Giancarlo Esposito is excellent at portraying these meticulous, powerful, egoistic men. First with Gus and now we see him here with Stan Edgar. Great acting from him
I would add Moff Gideon to that list but I haven’t seen the show yet so idk what he acts like
0:56 the way he says “where would it even go” just gets me every time. Idk why but it’s just so piercing to me.
"She's more like me than I ever imagined."
He sounds so proud 😆
He was!! He respects players that know how to play the game. Someone that doesn’t let things like love, attachment, and emotions compromise their game.
Stan Edgar wasn’t crying with tears of betrayal, he was crying with tears of joy
He wasn’t crying at all
The way Edgar said “like I’m your daddy” got me 🥵
That’s the second time Homelander went In with the nuclear option, and the second time Edgar told him “put away your fire cracker boy your embarrassing your self”
Two best actors fighting with acting skills
I like how Homelander looks like a kid seeking approval from Edgar. Anthony Starr is such a great actor
Edgar Stan is definitely a sup.
His super power is making statements that deal crippling:
E M O T I O N A L D A M A G E!
Edgar had to know Vicky was going to stab him in the back, he definitely has something up his sleeve.
Stan Absolutely Right !!!!
Respect man, Respect 👏👏👏👏
0:40 Vicky got validation and that one hurts Homelander even more as he is fishing for his praise
I am really glad they cast Giancarlo Esposito as Stan, the dude just owns every role he takes.
He wasn’t wrong. Homelander is not happy with his current position.
@Ruby King I know there an actualy direct counterpart to Vicky being Vic Newman but I feel like she's a combination of both characters

This actor can talk down to someone with such class and strength that it can make a God feel weak
It's incredibly awesome, he still put him in his place again, what a Boss!
This scene has convinced me that Edgar definitely has a contingency plan for Homelander. No way you create something that evil and powerful without having a way to kill it in case it gets out of line.
Temporary compound V
If this is what losing looks like then Homelander f*d up badly. Stan the man is still standing strong.
“you are not worthy of my respect”
The kid deserves your respect
I know Edgar is a bad guy, but I freaking love him! He's just so unbothered by Homelander. When Homelander tries to intimidate Edgar or seeks a reaction out of him, Edgar just slices right through Homelander's indestructible skin with his words. His verbal insults are so good that I feel like I'm the one being burned.
It's so fucked up and I actually feel bad for homelander here
Thing I hate about Homelander is not that he’s evil, but rather he’s just incompetent.
He's plenty evil too lol.

It’s so funny at 0:30 when homelander looks over at Stan to see if that joke got his skin just for him to still be unfazed
I was sooo worried for Edgar in this scene, so much damn tension
I like how homelander continues to look for a reaction to his petty insults when he first walks in the room. Truly shows how sad he is as a person
he is what Lex Luthor could be if he was more cold calculating and less ego. Lex Luthor would pretty much always win if he had the same calm disposition as Stan Edgar. Just as Homelander is like superman if superman had Lex Luthor's ego plus more parental issues
Funny enough the actor voices Lex Luthor in the Harley Quinn cartoon!
Pft.... The problem is that Superman isnt as Homelander so no... Lex couldnt handler him as Stan does with HomeL...

Somehow it doesn't feel like Stan Edgar has lost a centimeter of control.... Feels like he's still pulling ALL of the strings and like everyone is merely his puppet.
Dammit. Those words still cut my core, despite the fact that they weren't addressed to me.
I couldn't think of two actors better suited for this. Scene's just fucking impeccable in every aspect. Damn!
When Stan said: "...looking for approval like I'm your daddy?".
My and my friends watching were like: "OOOOOOOHHHHH! NAHHH! OHHHH! OHHHHHH!!".
I like that they still hold a torch to James Stillwell by personifying him through Stan Edgar. They even made the blood pressure reference like when Homelander is trying to intimidate him in the comics.
Edgar's words hits harder after the finale when Homelander's daddy called him a disappoitment. As Edgar says he is.
When Stan said you're simply bad product
Homelander started crying and was like your words cut deeper than any blades.
