Homelander is that one Villain that you always get so excited to see in every scene, and just watching him being Homelander is absolutely a breath of fresh air

I liked the scene but I think there was a better way than this old ✌️schizo✌️tropey scene - I mean Anthony Starr is crushing it, but split personality/DID isn’t something I’d ascribe to Homelander
This scene alone should ensure that Antony Starr is awarded the Emmy this year. Calling him fantastic is an understatement. The man owns every scene and elevates the entire series.
The thing I’ve always liked about Homelander’s character is that he likely would’ve turned out much differently had he been given a proper childhood and grew up under the care of loving parents instead of in a lab run by Vought scientists. There are little moments that shine through where you actually feel sorry for him a little bit. He could’ve been caring like Starlight or more Superman-like. That’s partly the reason he wants to be loved by people and so desperately seeks attention and approval. While it doesn’t excuse his actions and behavior, it really provides some insight as to why he is the way he is. He is as they made him. At the end of the day, Vought screwed him the same way they screwed everyone else. The best villains are the ones that you understand and can relate to rather than being just comically evil for no reason. Such a great, well written character and amazing performance by Antony Starr.
They made him the way they wanted to make him. If he had grown loving and kind, he would've never done the bad things they made him do or care about popularity and numbers. Homelander was made to replace Soldier Boy and be more easily controlled.
I love that Homelander isn't just "Superman but evil", or just evil round the clock. He's a despicable person, but moments like this do actually make you feel bad for the guy. His life has been horrible, he's had no real family or friends, and nobody really likes him or values him outside of his abilities or getting some kind of benefit from him. He's absolutely miserable. It doesn't excuse the awful things he does, but kind of like Joaqin Phoenix's Joker, it shows some insight as to how someone's traumatic experiences can push someone to do heinous things.
That's why he's a great character. Not for what he is, but from how written. His character is deep and not just one dimensional evil for the sake of evil.

Antony Starr is a criminally underrated actor. He deserves all the awards in the world. I don't know why he hasn't appeared in more mainstream Hollywood movies as a lead actor. Why?????
Because Hollywood usually doesn’t take chances with great actors with no name (I know Antony has credits but he’s relatively unknown) even if his performance was perfect. They’d except a lackluster performance in favor of a more household name.
While I think he is already too much of a monster to be “redeemed” or anything close, moments like this really manage to evoke sympathy for someone so despicable. Deep down, he wants genuine connections to others (a shame that being raised in horrible conditions turned him into a psychopath).
He definitely gives off Green Goblin vibes. When he said “Say It” I instantly thought of Harvey Dent when he’s talking to Gordon in the Hospital(The Dark Knight).
I think this shows one of the best versions of narcissism and ego in this show. He says"you're the top of the food chain"to himself seeing himself in the mirror. "When we were kids, alone in the room, i got us through it right?" This is his ego showing by having himself say it to him when he sees himself in the mirror. This is all in his mind and if another character were to walk in they would just see homelander talkin to himself to the mirror. He cares about no one but himself, he loves only himself, therefore he sees himself only and gives motivational talks to himself.
That was actually surprisingly wholesome! Lander 2 (or Homie) came up with straight factz and encouraged him the right way, like a friend, a mentor, a therapist. He didn't just crushed his ego like i thought he would but (during most of it) kindly seeked deep into the issue and made him open up. And Homelander, by seeing the real vulnerable person you feel sorry for the guy, simpathetic and empathetic - cause these are real universal problems that everyone face - making you think that with a proper raising he could have been saved. Especially because his main issues are exactly from this lack of proximity, education and love. The whole fact that he needed to create his Psychologist Tyler Durden shows this. Was a briliant move to show his vulnerability in a distorted way, showing the lengths he had to go to keep sane and not crush under the circunstances.
@John Grigg u need to pay attention to homelander scenes more carefully coz throughout Yh we can see him be evil but when he’s thinking about his past u can clearly see that his past messed him up he wasn’t born like this. Bcoz if he was raised properly he’d be more like Ryan then he is now, that’s literally the point of Ryan’s character to show what homelander would’ve been like if he was raised properly.
@UCtyeLACXdoDLjnCddOKwX-A except when Ryan had a loving mother there wasn’t a single hint of that at all until homelander came and started manipulating him like the doctors did to him and then now we’re properly seeing it coz he doesn’t have a loving mother anymore further showing that with a proper living environment both homelander and Ryan would turn out superman-esque
One thing I love is how Soldier Boy is giving his big "Everyone is so soft/Things were better in my day" speech while a Geiger counter is going off, as if to say SB's way of thinking is very toxic for everyone around him

While I think he is already too much of a monster to be “redeemed” or anything close, moments like this really manage to evoke sympathy for someone so despicable. Deep down, he wants genuine connections to others (a shame that being raised in horrible conditions turned him into a psychopath).
HE DESERVES AN EMMY!!! FOR HIS IMPECCABLE PERFORMANCE!!
the thing about homelander is, he isnt the "what if superman was evil" he's "what if superman was controlled by an evil corporation at a young age"
They should submit this scene for Emmy as this guy just portrayed every human emotion while talking to himself in 4 minutes.
I honestly think Homelander is one of the most entertaining characters in TV history
This scene alone is worthy of an Emmy.
Antony Starr is an amazing actor. ❤ I hope he wins every award he's nominated for.
Antony Starr is amazing! Want to see more top Homelander scenes? 🌟 th-cam.com/video/99cCnye85L8/w-d-xo.html
Instead of a clone, they're doing a split personality
but the mirror thing is from the comics too isnt it?
MK Ultra
The fact that the Homelander looking at the mirror does not mirror the actions of the Homelander looking back is excellent editing!
This is literally COMIC BOOK HOMELANDER talking to his lesser version Amazon self
2:46 man I thought I'm gonna get rickrolled 😂
Some people are born for some roles.. For Anthony This is it... Like RDJ for Iron man, Henry for supmam
No
@@iabusemydaughterdaily6287 onnu poyeda chekkka
I dont know about henry being born for superman......
Change Henry and Superman for Jackman and Wolverine or DeVitto and Penguin
@@lepork519 I disagree with penguin, I think Robin taylor plays a better penguin tbh, but i agree with you about jackman
I love how he calls himself tiger just like Madeline used to
This is called acting pure gold
This is the closest of homelander bullying himself.
He definitely took some inspiration from William defoes mirror scene in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man
Tahaha yeah. He’s clearly learnt and up to par with him
I can watch him act forever.. such a phenomenal talent he is
Having a stable childhood is so important
"I want them to love me...." brought a tear to my eye
@John Grigg nahhhh I defo think he’s a monster now but if he had a proper upbringing I don’t think he would be one
@John Grigg then doesn’t that mean Ryan is inherently evil coz he’s had V since he was a zygote?
One thing I love is how Soldier Boy is giving his big "Everyone is so soft/Things were better in my day" speech while a Geiger counter is going off, as if to say SB's way of thinking is very toxic for everyone around him
He’s right, you soft
I never see someone said "Yahtzee" so terrifyingly since the imposter grandma from The Visit (2015)
But what does Yahtzee mean?
This is why homelander is one of the best villains ever in a superhero setting just so much depth behind his character I even put him above thanos in greatness of villain characters
I actually like Thanos, like our planet is too crowded so it would have helped I think if half of us just disappeared. Also I love Homelander.
I just realized that "Come on, Tiger" is the first Spider Man reference we've gotten in the series.
This isn't Homelander giving Homelander a pep talk, this is Homelander giving John Gillman a pep talk.
Anyone else get a Sméagol/Gollum vibe from this? Especially’When we were kids the bad room? I always got us through it.’
I never fully hated homelander. When i started watching the show, i kinda realised that hes scared inside. I love analysing everything 😁
This gives such strong Norman Osborne vibes. And it's terrifying and beautiful.
Probably my favourite scene in the whole show, Anthony is just amazing
this much power in a man like this. truly terrifying
In reality this is John speaking to Homelander.
Homelander is scared of talking to Anthony Star
Two alter egos arguing before starting their day
The Boys better get some Emmys or we riot.
I felt these ways for years. Feels like an eternity of never ending misery...it hurts
His acting is perfect, top 3 in television right now
Homelander is not a villain. This society made him act this way. We are not bad guys by default, life goes this way that we must act like that.
