@ the structure of the ride is steel whereas only the track is wood. It is part of regular maintenance for a wooden coaster to have its track replaced frequently. If the new developers, who have stated they want the area to be a mixed-use space with an entertainment area, wanted to do something special, they could pair their plans for a water park with a small amusement section that could feature a completely overhauled Mega Zeph, and maybe a small handful of flat rides. Something similar to what you can find at the Kemah Boardwalk or Galveston Pleasure Pier.
Mega Zepth should have moved to Michigan Adventure of Six Flags regain rides from Old NOLA Property. But unfortunately it demo on entrance station I heard and Jester is Demo too which that ride should have more to Kings Island on Vortex site or back to Six Flags over Texas as Joker Revenge again @@eliasmertens9313
I hope water management is involved in this project, since this area was one of the most severely hit areas by flooding, which lead to the demise of the amusement park.
I’m all for the tear down but did we not learn that maybe that isn’t the area to build. Anyone who builds below sea level near the ocean is a complete idiot.
I was in hoping Six Flags regain these coaster from Jazzland and move like Mega Zepth to Michigan Adventure because this wooden coaster is in better shape than others . I was thinking Jester would move back to Six Flags Over Texas rebrand Joker Revenge again it becomes scrap 😢 thanks Bayou .
It would be cool if Six Flags partnered with the people building on that land next. They could add a roller coaster kinda like how Vegas has one going though some buildings. Or add some simple things back like a carousel, a Ferris wheel, or arcade games in memory of the park. I’d hate to see them lose everything fun. My hometown has gotten rid of everything that made the town fun for the youth. Roller skating rinks, bowling alley, movie theater, arcade, everything fun has been replaced by overpriced shoebox apartments. They keep packing the town full of more people even though there are not enough good paying jobs to support everyone and now there’s barely anything for people to do around here.
@Ukrainetoyrusubanexplorer more likely too much corrosion/metal fatigue as it's been left without maintenance for so long. Alot of manufactures like Vekoma (which is who made the blue coaster seen here) would strengthen the track, supports and footers to be better 'hurricane proof', this is of course providing the owners came back after and maintained it as well.
They can't, the structures are a hazard to people because they're in severely rotted. There are many people that have trespassed and put themselves in danger by going near the decaying rides and climbing on them.
Stop making New Orleans themed theme parks IN NEW ORLEANS!!!! Nobody wants a fake plastic version of New Orleans when they're actually there. Tourists didn't come for the fake version and the locals are sick of New Orleans themed attractions because they see that stuff every day. Not a single person is asking for this. People are so stupid to throw money away on ideas that only look good on paper but will never work in the real world.
@@BenMonares They do, but they don't want a fake themed version of the real city they see every day. A king that lives in a real castle with 150 rooms, is not going to be impressed with the plaster castles at Disney world. It just comes off as a cheap copy to people who know what the real thing is like. It's like building a fake Eiffel Tower next to the real thing and thinking anyone is going to want to see it.
Lofty dreams for a city that is woefully poor. This idea is going to remind us of China. Where they build it but no one comes. Maybe Trump will fix it 👍🏿
You know it's bad when some people are getting nostalgic over something that's been abandoned 😭
It was something so much more than that to so many people, especially when it was operating.
It’s bittersweet to see that something is finally being done, but to also see that the park will be no more.
Rest in pieces
Good luck with your project. Families and singles need to have a place for joy, smiles and memories.
20 years is pathetic. Shame on city hall
Please keep the Mega Zeph. It can be refurbished. The other coasters really aren’t worth saving, but please keep the Mega Zeph.
How could they keep it? Its wood? That wood has been sitting there for almost 2 decades rotting away.

Developers don't care where they build
That old place finally comes down. Thought I'd never see the day.
Maybe theres a few items in there that can be put on display at the new development
About time they are demolishing the abandoned Six Flags destroyed by Katrina after sitting there for almost 20 Years!
It doesn’t make sense that they didn’t reconstruct six flags
RIP Six Flags New Orleans never forgotten
Oh my goodness look at the amount of sound stages for filming
It was 19 year ago. Same year that Six Flags AstroWorld closed down....
Bayou Phoenix will never get built. Calling it now.
Kind of like OWA in Foley, AL
🤣😂😂
@bjtgaming look it up, it's nice fr
The roller coasters can be saved along with a few other rides

I bet the rust has eaten it so badly though and the cost of refurbishment just wouldn't be worth it
Ready for loss of investments without more improvements to avoid another massive flooding
the bayou phoenix project will fail. no one is going to drive out there to this place.

They're literally trying to build something that is something for kids to do
FINALLY!!!
This is sad…
Finally!
I hope that stuff gets saved and place the museum somewhere for future generations to enjoy looking at it
I watched somebody explore it and the roller coasters where so sketchy
eventually. the building is now Demoliched. and the construction began on the new Bayou Phoenix
Check out “Closed For Storm” by Jake Williams
Six flags in an American tragedy story..the rising costs caused six flags corp to struggle to maintain..
Stop control the crime!!
WTF you’re thinking,Karl????
I’m gonna need to sit down in a room with the people who decided to build a theme park in New Orleans so that I can get my head around it
Long… long overdue….
It been 19 years should been tore it down
The smart idea was to turn it into a theme park once again.
Just some other crap that will be abandoned
R.I.P. Mega Zeph
A lagoon in gator environment is kinda crazy. Good luck.
Oh i would love to have an.old bumper car
So it ends…
Could have kept at least 2 coasters, would go well with the rest of the new park
Too damage by katrena

@Faulty720 yes
If anything was salvageable they would have salvaged it right after the storm not 20 years later
Wild
They gotta keep the bumper cars though surely..
The new development will be a shit-hole in no time. I hope not, but it's inevitable.
?
@@archimetropolis That area is a really poor area now, basically a ghetto.
NO! LEAVE IT THERE!!

@ it’s just so heartbreaking since it’s like they’re removing the last bit of history of once was once there…
They should keep the wooden roller coaster and fix it up.. if it's possible 💁♂
Help the people 1st smh help the homeless people people who are struggling in New Orleans smh
