That's true for all potatoes. Their micronutrients come almost exclusively from the soil they spend their lives in. When you peel them, you have empty calories. But who reaches for potato chips when they want nutritious food? That's daft.
@@ImmortalReaverSeriously? Rats. Been treating them as a main course all these years. Guess I’ll have to substitute something nutritious, like doughnuts.
@ Rat meat is far more nutritious than potato chips, or even peeled potatoes (depending on what toxins they've been living in). There is a place in Southeast Asia (maybe Thailand - not sure) where rats are barbecued on a stick and sold as a very expensive delicacy. (I assume they are farm-raised.) The final product actually looked disturbingly good to me! The nutrients in meat come from the metabolic processes of the animal. The nutrients in tubers like potatoes come from the soil they're grown in.
@NomenClature-o8s, maybe, but they’re awesome! As adult at 3-1/2 feet tall, I ate an entire regular size canister of Pringles by myself in one sitting. Although Pringles may be highly processed, they’re not bleached.
Made Vision, how come Procter & Gamble doesn’t take the ones from a “bad batch” and put a store’s or an off-brand’s label on them or the company could donate those “bad batches” to food pantries?
Exactly!! It seems each time I buy one, it has less and less seasoning!! I used to give in and try them again only to be disappointed... I'm not giving in anymore!
As we get older our taste buds don't work as well, they get worn down and your sense of taste dulls. Perhaps you are simply remembering what they tasted like when you were younger and your taste buds worked better? I used to love pringles as a kid but as an adult they do seem fairly bland to me. I wouldn't put it past them to use less seasoning to cut costs though.
I love the fact I just came across this and have a Party Stack of BBQ Pringles I was indulging myself in as I was watching how these are made. Always a pure joy haha.
i hope you didnt find that in the mini fridge if you were staying in a hotel. that will cost you about 10x markup value ontop of the 30-35g of pringles you got for the same price as a whole tube, before they added the mini fridge tax. The EU Pringle CEO can afford this trolling and far more. just wait till see if they comply with their suggested food changes to help save the enviroment from cow farts (PeOpLeShEePlE)
The Pringles in Australia have suffered so badly from shrinkflation that I no longer buy them. They are now 134 grams as opposed to the US and Europe where they are 155 grams. Probably a good thing as they are so over processed and there are many healthier options for chips.
In Greece at least, the can is the same size, but the chips are much smaller, so they have too much room to move around, and ALWAYS break and become IMPOSSIBLE to take out of the can anymore. Fredrick would be LIVID, as this goes against the whole REASON he made them.
Same in South Africa ☹️ I used to love them as a kid but barely had them coz it was more expensive than regular chips, so I promised myself that as an adult I'd buy Pringles to my heart's desire...but to my disappointment, they taste nothing like they did when I was kid and they're so much smaller and always broken 😔
Wow, what a complicated process! In the beginning, it wasn't available across America & we, in the West, had to wait for supply to reach us, and boy-oh-boy we were sure excited! And not disappointed either!
really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at how Pringles are made; it's fascinating to see the whole process! however, I've gotta say, the amount of processing and additives in them kinda makes me question if they should even be considered a "snack" anymore. just feels like they've strayed too far from what chips used to be. what do you all think?
This video is incredibly detailed and fascinating! I loved how it broke down every step of the process, from washing the potatoes (2:34) to the unique frying method that gives Pringles their iconic shape (8:03). The explanation of the blind taste test under red lighting (10:50) was such an interesting touch to highlight quality control. Amazing work!
something about how they're made has changed; most of the chips are thicker and less seasoned and the sour cream and onion flavoring has turned into something different
Wow I knew these were unhealthy, but after seeing this my favorite Pringle is none, as I would never put another one into my mouth. The starches, and flavoring and hot oil. Goodness.
Um... and what exactly did you expect from a snack that is potato based (so there is startch to begin with), made from a paste (I don't think you expected potatoes to be cut into perfect shapes or taste like that), has different flavors and is fried? Like... no shade no tea, but how are you surprised?
This video was really interesting, I appreciate the effort you put into showing the Pringles manufacturing process! However, I can't help but wonder about the health implications of all those additives they use. I mean, are we really just okay with munching on something that’s more chemistry than potato? Would love to hear what others think!
Seeing all of the Machinery used and the entire process of making Pringles, It's amazing that they don't cost more than they do.....Especially when you consider that potato chips are basically potatoes that are thinly sliced and then boiled in oil.
Great to watch this. My only concerned was watching a few times of people handling them without gloves. Hopefully they aren’t the chips going in the containers.
It's amazing to discover how Pringles are made! From processing each potato slice to the advanced production process, the video provides a detailed and captivating insight into creativity in the food industry. Thank you for sharing this fascinating journey
They've shrunk. I wasn't able to fit a complete one in my mouth when they first came out. Now one fits without even trying. A just-opened can looks half empty down one side. The price hasn't shrunk, though. In fact, the price goes up as the food shrinks.
It’s incredible to think about how such a simple snack goes through so many steps to become the perfect Pringles chip. The precision and attention to detail in each stage, from blending to seasoning, is truly fascinating. Have you ever wondered how they get that iconic shape? Which flavor is your go-to when you grab a can of Pringles?
Ye. Just politics mate. You cannot legally brand pringles as potato chips. But you can legally add laxatives to the recipe(read ingredient list). Crazy world 😂
Procter & Gamble's initial argument was that, no, Pringles were not potato chips because they didn't "contain enough potato to have the quality of 'potatoness.'" (Is that even a word?) They also argued Pringles didn't resemble the shape of a potato chip and were more along the lines of a "savory snack." In 2008, a lower British court agreed and ruled that Pringles were in fact not potato chips, mainly because they contained only 42 percent potato and had "a shape not found in nature." But just a year later, the Court of Appeal re-examined and reversed that decision, calling Procter & Gamble's argument that the ingredients of a product don't define the product "hogwash." With that decision, the behemoth corporation had to pay $160 million in taxes, while - begrudgingly - calling their newfangled potato chips, well, potato chips. And that is the story of Pringles and its brief dance with the world of taxes, junk food and British judges.
This video is a snack lover’s dream! The combination of science, technology, and deliciousness is incredible. Can’t wait to grab a can of Pringles now!
That’s some next-level snack synergy! 😄 Watching how your favorite chips are made while munching on them feels like a true Pringles fan experience. BBQ is such a solid choice, too-sweet, smoky, and oh-so-satisfying. Do you ever experiment with dipping them in anything, or are they perfection straight out of the can? 🥔✨
