    For most people all these guys squats look the same but with karl there is zero bounce at the bottom and also deep extension in his lumbar which indicates he has incredible leg strength even compared to these other guys.pp

      Yeah I thought Karl had the best form, was deep, slow and smooth, no surprise to see him squat like that considering how strong his scrummaging is, Laulala struggles midpoint and losses his form, starts to engage his lower back through the drive phase.
      Moody and Bower showed some decent form but Karl definitely a level above.

      @alasdairmacleod3411 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Come on, the weight they are squatting is laughable. They are tremendous rugby players, absolutely no doubt, but this isn't strong at all.

    • @zinlinzin123
      @zinlinzin123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Alasdair MacLeod Not that strong by professional weightlifting standards but these guys also need to have really good cardio and can only do so many weightlifting sessions before it starts detracting from more important things like their game skills

    • @alasdairmacleod3411
      @alasdairmacleod3411 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zinlinzin123 there are 60kg women that can squat this weight, for male professional athletes of this size a 210kg squat is absolutely not impressive. What's even less impressive is the fact the many of the squats in this video also show poor technique, with the lifters having lordosis in their backs.
      This is absolutely not a comment on their phenomenal rugby skills, but purely a comment on the weight being "heavy" and disappointment in the technique displayed by these world class athletes.

    • @zinlinzin123
      @zinlinzin123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Alasdair MacLeod It’s apples and Oranges comparing them to professional powerlifters who do nothing but lift weights. I believe the standard for the South African teams front rowers was having a 2x body weight squat, again that might not seem strong in absolute strength, but it’s very rare to have someone able to squat say 300kg while also having cardio sufficient to play international Rugby.

    Squats can really give you explosive strength. My boy is an out half and squats 230kg and got a 10.9 100m. It's a myth that heavy weights make you slow.

    • @tearohadiamond8530
      @tearohadiamond8530 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the type of training you incorporate into your workouts and squat training.

    • @theoutlier9053
      @theoutlier9053 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tearohadiamond8530 not really. Lifting weights is explosive and if done correctly will work your fast twitch fibres hard. The only thing that will affect your speed is if you increase your bodyweight. That's why sprinters and sprint cyclists lift heavy weights

    • @tearohadiamond8530
      @tearohadiamond8530 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@theoutlier9053 yes squats are fine but it depends on the form your using and the way your using the squat, squats can increase power, strength or endurance depending on the method. It can also tighten your muscles if you don't maintain flexibility, depending on the method of the squat being used and other training techniques combined with it , you won't necessarily be quick.
      Some guys can squat 400kgs but it doesn't mean they will be fast at sprinting, then you get guys who squat less than half that and are sprinting the 100m well under 11sec.

    I don't rate Joe Moody as a scrumager at all. He was clearly cheating again the Boks in world cup, scruming with hand on the ground more than twice. Time will tell though. The rest of All Blacks squad is livewire though I won't even front. I don't thing Boks can manage to slow the game down for 80 minutes. I'm not even looking forward for All Blacks game. I want us to beat Australia twice and severely biggest haters infact I want Argentina to get at least one over them.
