    for the price that the printer costs to acquire, whether it is private or for a company, you don't get many smart features and autobedleveling should at least be standard and especially on printers in that price range, other printers you can buy in the same price range have more offer and yes one of them even has a corexy system and request slicer and access to the printer via either PC or mobile.

      @@mururoa7024 it’s just a senor that adjusts the z axis to adjust for small discrepancies in the bed. lots of printers run without needing abl. I know what it does… is it nice, yes but it’s not mandatory, it still prints just fine. Should a $2200 printer have it? Yes, most certainly. It’s like a $30 add on for a $300 printer.

      Hi Bryan! I ended up purchasing a QIDI MAX 3 based on build envelope, heated chamber, material selection, auto-leveling, price point, and overall reviews. It's seems that there is no "perfect" printer (yet) that checks every box, but this one checked the most. I'll be keeping an eye out for any information or videos you might be sharing, as I now subscribe to your channel. Feel free to check out my channel for Sunset Engineers, my design firm that is still in the infancy stage, but growing everyday. More importantly, I am truly enjoying myself, along with my Team and clients, which means a high quality of life for all. ☺

    A great review Bryan! I noticed the sticky-out USB stick straight away which bolsters your comment about this issue, maybe a 90° adapter could solve this issue for owners of this printer, but that is imaterial for me as my money would not get spent on this machine, it would be spent on a true fast machine like the Bamboo Lab X1 Carbon once I have weighed up the pros and cons between the Prusa XL and the X1, its a pity as this printer could have been so much better for very little money.

I imagine this is not cheap and with that you only get ptfe lined hotend too? Just so they can sell the i-fast pro I guess! I think it would maybe be a bit more interesting if it was an idex like the snapmaker j1.

    Given how much this printer costs, all the stuff you mentioned, especially chepo afterthought camera with no way of controlling the printer remotely is a big no-no for me. And since Qidi went out of their way so that Octoprint won't work with their printers, I'd have to say, hard pass. Bambu Labs X1C is just about half the price and it makes i-Fast look like fossil.

    At roughly 3:42 - 3:46 in the video, it appears that the PTFE tubes are in direct contact with the brass nozzles. True? If so, that is a recipe for Teflon pyrolysis and offgassing, so no one should use that printer.

    • @BV3D
      @BV3D  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kevin, those PTFE-lined "spare parts" brass nozzles are for the standard temperature extruder assembly. Do you have a good link for information about PTFE outgassing? My usual rule of thumb to not exceed about 235˚C with a PTFE lined hot end. On the high-temperature extruder assembly that goes to 300˚C, they're using all-metal hot ends.

    • @kevinpezzi6777
      @kevinpezzi6777 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BV3D This source (www.fluoridealert.org/wp-content/pesticides/teflon.decomposition.prod.htm ) quotes published research indicating that “pyrolysis of Teflon starts at 200 degrees-C and proceeds slowly up to 420 degrees-C …” That corroborates what I’ve read from several other scientific sources. Somewhere in my massive stack of scientific papers is one quantitating the pyrolysis, which is indeed low at typical PLA printing temperatures (if you’d like, I will look for that paper and give you a link to it).
      However, a low risk isn’t synonymous with no risk, especially with Teflon-type chemicals, notorious for their biological persistence: once in your body, they remain for many years, triggering numerous adverse health effects. My concern is amplified because 3-D printer users commonly have frequent exposure to fumes generated during printing, most of which have little or no detectable odor, lulling many users into a false sense of security.
      However, additional published research shows that other seemingly benign PFAS sources, such as Teflon dental flosses, result in elevated levels in humans.
      BTW, I apologize for the slow response but I’ve been sidetracked lately by a problem with a recent purchase: while attempting auto-leveling, my Creality Ender 3 S1 Plus crashes its nozzle into the build plate and tries to ram through it, visibly pushing the build plate down, then moves laterally, severely gouging the PEI surface. It does this every time I run auto-leveling in spite of preceding that with very careful assisted leveling using the usual piece of paper method. I have a lot of experience printing with my other 3-D printers (from Anycubic and Prusa), all of which have auto-leveling, but they did that so easily I never learned to troubleshoot problems when things go horribly wrong. I contacted Creality last week, spent several hours providing documentation (photos, video, text, proof of purchase, etc.) and still no help.

    TWO-THOUSAND FOUR-HUNDRED NINETY-NINE DOLLARS and it doesn't have auto bed-leveling? And dual-extruder prints are mediocre? And it doesn't print any faster than a $200 printer? And it's glitchy AF? And the camera is nearly useless? And you didn't try printing ABS or other high-temp filaments despite a heated enclosure being one of the most prominent features of the printer?
    Just curious: how much worse would a printer have to be, at this price point, for you to be unhappy with it?

  • @Roskellan
    @Roskellan ปีที่แล้ว

    I fitted a chamber heater to my Qidi X-Pus, I also filled the gap in the top cover, I now have a borosilicate glass plate for when I print nylon (held by bull dog clips similar to the packaging ones supplied) and bought an extra low temp and high temp extruder because I change filament types so often (I also change nozzle sizes Mk10 M7 - 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 brass, brass ruby, S/.S hardened Steel), . I stuck a temp and humidity sensor to the inside of the polycarbonate top cover. I feed nylon (CF) and TPU from a heated filament box on top of the printer to protect against humidity. Qidi make some good printers and I'm very happy with mine. If you want to connect to it via Octoprint you have to connect to the control board with an USB lead. The USB port provided won't work. The QIDI Print Slicer works well and parts are readily available from Qidi Tech via AliExpress. These printers are very well built and the manual bed leveling isn't a problem and easy enough to do, providing you remember to bring the bed up to temperature before you do it (expansion of the thick bed will mess you up otherwise). The low temp extruder avoids jams by running its TPFE tubing deep into the nozzle, in the first instance I changed this to blue capricorn tubing, when I change out the nozzle. Since then I have had S/S inserts manufactured to replace the bit of TPFE tube actually within the nozzle up to the top of the nozzle, using the same technique allows me to use Ruby Brass nozzles in the High temp Extruder. The hardened Steel ones provided have their PTFE tubes stop at the top of the nozzle, that is the hole in the nozzle is 2mm for its entirety through the nozzle. Wifi to the Printer works well and is very convenient. The enclosure is big enough for some extras, heated chamber, recirculating carbon filter - in my case, not to mention a 1kg roll of filament if you want to (and you might want to printing nylon if you don't have a heated boxed filament dispenser. All of which refers to the Qidi X-Plus but it very much appears that there is a high degree to the similarity to parts used in their different models.

The Chinese DO NOT have a perfectionist mentality as the Japanese or South Koreans do... it may be because the Communist system removes incentive to do a stellar job, as the free-market system does.

      It isn't intended for most people. It's a dual filament high temp workhorse. Specialised support material filaments tend to be very expensive and the bambu system wastes heaps of filament. The oversize linear rails should last way longer than the carbon rods in a bambu. A heated chamber is a huge advantage if you need it. Can you print ABS and ASA in a bambu? Sure. If they are large prints, you will have to leave the bed running for ages before you start your print and hope it doesn't warp. The ifast and newer Qidi printers you can just set the chamber temp.
