The river at 9:09 is my hometown. It's where I grew up. I wish I were there to invite you guys over my house for a local authentic meal. Great job with that ride. The traffic is a lot crazier on April 30 and May 1st (back to back holidays). Even I wouldn't wanna travel by bike on those days. Congratulations on making it to Cat Tien safe and sound. I think the traffic on the upcoming days would be much more chilled.

🚣 Haha stay steady, you'll need thick ponchos because of monsoon season. Remember that scene where Forrest Gump described the rain in VN seemed to be coming from both above and below? You've now had a wee taste of it. And I was there some years ago too and rode everywhere on the back of a friend's moped. She kept asking me what was so funny because I was breaking into fits of giggles the whole time out of nervousness.

When you arrive in Danang, there is a famous pass. It is called HAI VAN pass between Danang and Hue.
A must for travelers by motorbike. Please make a video about this trip.

It's raining season here in the South so please prepare for it. I'll rain almost everyday. You can get sick very easily even tho it's not so cold so try your best not to get wet. And use the bike horn when ever you feel unsure, here is how it work: honk once to let people know you're coming from the back or to make sure they noticed you ( in case they're not pay attention), honk twice at crossroad to signify that you're going to cross first and they will slow down to make way for you. It's chaos on the street here but you'll get used to it xD. Just remember 2 second rule when driving: leave room to give yourself as least 2 second to react. And don't make any sudden move.

  • @Hunter-go4bv

Let's do it. So cool, enjoy and have a safe trip. They are currently building a highway that goes from southern to northern Vietnam (like highway 1). Most sections will be readied by end of the year.

Fantastic trip! I’ve done 4 rides in VN and hired from Tigit the last time in Feb/Mar 2020…….ending with the great escape to avoid enforced isolation in government accommodation as the shutters came down.
So far the HCM road in central and the Ma Li Peng pass from Dong Van to Meo Vac in Ha Giang have been my favourites. Mind you a lovely cruise with 11 course meal in Halong Bay and kayaking was pretty cool as well.
Just don’t fall off a mountain trail on your bike would be my advice, it hurts. (But bamboo and locals will save you!)

Cat Tien is amazing. I rode from HCMC to Hanoi via there too. The guy in the Eco hotel took my phone off me in the morning and punched in a route on Google maps to our next destination.
The normal way would have taken us on the boring highway.
The way he put into our Google map was the most amazing route I've ever done. Massive mountain views no cars was incredible.
Definitely ask for a better way at reception

Getting in and out of those 2 cities are painful but the rest will hopefully be better. Drive safely though and when in doubt, drive slowly.

On the Labor Day in Thailand, it was also raining. The Weather Bureau mentioned that the cold front from China spread to Thailand, Laos and VN, which then collided with seasonal monsoon wind from the sea, causing widespread rainfalls. It should be the last cold front from China this year. It is weird as normally cold front from China ceased by early April practically every year.
