    I got one and am very impressed with it. Right out of the box the action is very low, yet not a single fret buzzes. No truss rod adjustment needed, intonation right on, stays in tune and the range of sound available with the various pick up combinations attainable using the 5 position switch is awesome. I highly recommend this guitar for anyone from beginner to pro.

    I just purchased this guitar for my 14 year old daughter who is into Deftones, Nirvana and Cage the Elephant to name a few. I wanted to get her the GRGR131, flat black but since all black guitars are still sitting on the cargo ships coasting our SoCal shores it would not get here till way after Christmas. So I'm pleased with GRX70 Emerald Sunburst. She will love it. I also got her a Boss Katana 50 amp. It comes with lots of built in Effects so she will be floored when she opens up her gifts.

    Guy is genuine. I like how this isn't like every other video saying " its a great beginner guitar " , just because its more affordable. You can be an intermediate player and get alot out of these GIOs. Especialy if you come from using only Fender and Gibson style guitars. These just have faster necks and are designed around fast leads, which over time will improve your dexterity

    GRX70QA in a nutshell :
    G = GIO (refers to Ibanez model series)
    RX = Neck type
    70 = Pickups (H+S+H)
    QA = Quilted Art (the finish on the top of the body)
    There is also other models but they are expensive than RX, the RG models. Example is the GRG140 Ibanez.
    RX = This neck is similar to standard Strats. The neck is built whole, and consists of 2 layers, 1fingerboard, 1 neck body. The headstock of this model is carved out and flattened, it means this type of neck will need to have string trees installed on it.
    RG = This neck is similar to standard Les Paul. The neck has 3 layers in total, 1 fingerboard, 1 neck body, 1 headstock. The headstock of this neck model is tilted backwards which is similar to any Les Paul guitar and does not require any string trees.
    P.S. Ibanez guitars are really good when it comes to durability, craftmanship and quality. I don't know why those Vintage collectors hate Ibanez so much.

    This was my first guitar ever, and I love it til death, it's still my fav guitar, tho the whammy isn't really worth it, if you don't change the tuners. I pretty much only play with the bridge pick-up. Also gotta say what makes his sound awesome here, aren't especially the pick-ups, but 95% the amp. I have relatively cheap Marshall, still sounds awesome, but just not like this.
    Edit: ya, I actually put Seymour Duncan hot rodded JBs in. And the difference is insane. Not the slightest bit of hum anymore, besides the single coil, since it's still the original one from Ibanez. Anyway still were good pickups for starting out.

    I JUST got one of these used MINT in the black burst quilted maple. I paid $140 for it used. It's MINT. I like the satin neck.
    Fit and finish is great. It stays in tune pretty well. I am pretty impressed. I am a "Re-Beginner" out on Guitar Journey V2.0.
    As far as Not metal sound. It sounds pretty good for Santana's Moonflower (Which I am working thru)
    Yes... If a total beginner asked me what guitar to buy I would say this one.
    I took the back covers and was impressed how nice the wiring was done.
    I also have a totally pro set up and modded (Gotoh locking tuners, custom bone nut, frets dressed and leveled, PuP height set, etc...etc..) PRS SE Custom 24.
    In all honesty the PRS feels better. Mainly because the grain on the fretboard is WAY tighter and feel better than the pine which feels a little bit "not smooth".
    BUT the Ibanez SOUNDS better. I am going to do the Gotoh's on the GIO and maybe a nut change. I can see where they saved $$$. No binding for one.
    In the near future the PRS is getting Iron Gear PuP's which should help. I guess the PuP's are a much-maligned part on some of the PRS SE's

    I bought one of these exactly 2 years ago and never regretted it.
    I went with the black one though, I think it looks pretty cool.
    I bought it for the price and the versitility and what a great decision that was. When I got it I immediately took the D/G string tree off for a little better tuning stability. Worked pretty well.
    There where a few minor quality control issues like the serial number sticker peeling off a little, the nut needed to be filed a little and the knobs were too far down making it hard to turn them. Other than that, the great quality control is pretty good.
    I'm a metal head so that's what I mostly play and it sounds really good considering how cheap the guitar is. However the bridge pickup tends to get a little muddy when playing chords like a G, D, C, E minor etc. Though to be fair I do use quite a bit of gain/overdrive. At times it does sound a little trebly when playing the G and B on lower parts of the fretboard. Mostly noticeable on the neck and bridge pickup with gain/distortion. It's almost like a twang. Not a big issue but does annoy me sometimes.
    The factory tuners are unbelievably good for what they are. I could play the whole of Metallica's Orion and still be in tune 😮👍. But about a month or 2 ago I ended up buying a set of 16:1 Gotoh locking tuners and a Kluson string tree because I wanted to use the whammy bar without immediately tuning after a little tap of the bar. It also makes changing strings a breeze. No more slippage 👍. Not necessarily the stock tuners fault just a flaw with the wrap around style design. But since I upgraded I can now go completely slack and it comes back mint. The tuning stability is insane for a non locking trem guitar. Very happy camper 👍.
    My next indever is to upgrade the electronics to dimarzio stuff. Super Distortion, Area 67, Titan/Liquifire etc. The stock electronics are great as is, but I'm looking for something with a phatter clearer sound and can handle a lot of gain and distortion.
    For the money these guitars are awesome, and with a few modifications they can be even better. If you're on a tight budget and want a great versitile guitar. Look no further than the Ibanez RX70QA!

    I have a few guitars at home, the Gibson SG is probably my favourite, but more guitars are always better. I wanted something for travel that I won't feel too precious about, and saw the GRX70QA online the other day, going cheap. Visited the store and tested it out - so loud, snotty, and very responsive! I had to buy it then and there. Mine did need a little bit of neck adjustment, but even that was fun, educational, and straight forward. It feels very good in my hands. I had a acoustic electric and a mid 90s electric, dont remember the model but it was a cheapy at the time. Now is a different story. I cant put it down. It's so easy to play and the neck, it was like made for me. Stays in tune sounds great and for 250 to 300 bucks in the states it's a excellant beginner guitar that you can gig with... thanks Ibanez for a model I would of paid a 1.000 dollars for easy back in the 80s.. peace

    I bought one of these about a year ago but I was gifted a tele not long after I bought it. Needless to say I didn't pick the guitar back up until recently and I must say, after a little neck adjustment, fret end work and strings I am playing this thing more and more. I'm not really a metal guy but I am a rock and roll guy and with the selector switch on the 2nd notch up and my crate amp I can get a really good tone. Akin to the tone of black dog or purple haze. So I think this guitar is well worth the $179 I paid for it and it is a lot more versatile than people might think

    Thank you so much for making this video. I am looking into buying my first guitar and I've done the homework for a while. When I found out Ibanez guitars,, I had to stop and check them out. I've always been a fan of the heavier rock kind of music going into metal,: Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Dream Theater to name a few. When I saw this video, I was blown away from how it sounds and how adaptable it is to any kind of music genre. Ultimately, I don't want to spend an arm and a leg for a guitar, (though I do like the Schecter Reaper 6 FR). I think the Ibanez Gio is a great-sounding guitar and the best part is I don't have to spend a ton of money for a really good sound. Thank you for making a great video.

    I’ve owned an Ibanez GRX70QA for about two years now. I originally bought it for a superstrat to play 80’s metal on. It’s capable of aggressive heavy bridge pickup tones, round Slash-like neck pickup lead tone, and twangy Strat tones in positions 2-4. The only downside is the Strat tremolo. After I got a setup done, I could divebomb like a madman on speed, and it would stay in tune, then since 2020, not even a restring will restore tuning stability. Once we’re vaccinated for COVID-19, I might visit my tech to try making it stay in tune again
