It wont be long that most if not all FPV will be illegal or so restricted & fees attached for permits that no one will be able to enjoy it anymore. Once again the few stupid ones have messed up yet another wonderful thing for the rest of us I also seen a video were a 20 yr old male invaded the privacy of a yard two house down from his own (she was sun bathing) and the girl called the cops on him. This one was told to me by the officer who took the call where I live-3 young kids put a laser pointer on there quads and flying around at night shining it into windows of people homes! WTF!!! Its stupid crap like that that piss's me off bad!! & I know the people who make the laws are going to screw that up too. Sad to say but I think our days of FPV fun are numbered- AND Just to be CLEAR I'm NOT saying or calling anyone in this video or who posted comments here are the guilty or the stupid!

    @BigLittlePilot 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Why I applaud your effort and this is very amazing, I can't help but wonder, as a commercial pilot. Do you need to get permission to 'launch' a weather balloon? If everyone starts doing this on random places (cause this is cool and it's getting more common) with airways pretty much over any house, could get dangerous :P Not that a balloon with a few grams of metal would bring down a full sized jet, there is still a threat. If by chance the balloon is sucked in an engine, or covers an essential piece of equipment like angle of attack sensor, pitot tube, RAM air inlet holes, things could turn ugly.

For the fpv flier its hard for them to spot the perpetrator in the same way... I mean you can be on your mobile phone piloting the bloody thing !!! so they would need to simply look at this video and talk to YT...Just before anyone gets any funny ideas you would stick out like a sore thumb having your Tx signal if they needed to up the ante..if we all fly responsibly that wont be needed its the other idiots I fear for. ***** Actually you do, but it's small compared with the fish eye effect. If you know what to look for, pause the video at the correct point and you will see the curvature.
      Hint the fish eye effect is more close to the edges of the lense, so you will have a point where the fish eye effect is minimal, and where the effect should be showing a slight curvature in opposite direction, but it doesn't. And at that point you see the earth's curvature, though not perfectly.

      Plz... Space is not 20 miles... The Karman Line defines the boundary between earth's athmosphere and space. This Kalman line is 100km (60 miles) above sea level. So that guy just made 1/3 of his way to space (which is actually really impressive, but it's not space ^^). Also it is theoreticaly impossible to reach space with a baloon filled with helium or hydrogen (otherwise SpaceX would have done it long ago to send their satellite into orbit ^^)
      The thumnail is missleading. The video was taken with a very wide angle camera. Because of this, the image is very very distorted. With another camera the earth would have been a lot more flat :)

    • @florianvanderharten7281
      @florianvanderharten7281 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It helps that the camera is fish-eyed, making the surface look very big. Even though you can see very far you don't move very far off. It seems like the world is small and the glider can move very far purely because your perspective shifts, while the glider itself stays quite slow. The same in a plane, you appear to be moving slowly if you look down, but when you look at the speedometer you go around 800-1050 kph, it's just the visual effect. There is no such thing as a dumb question.

    • @Hellsong89
      @Hellsong89 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Well it has to do with pilot flying the plane. Fish eye lens gives wider area to see that is really good when piloting with camera and like SpydreX said there isint that many that are light enough for this intention. Of course you could swap the gopro lens, but even then these flat earthers wont get it that this planet is fucking huge compared to us and it would take little more than weather balloon and glider to get into space..

    With the technical glitches sorted out (eg. whatever ground based problem there was) - it seems like you could potentially use some rocket boosters to get the plane even higher. Have you done another run with the same balloon/flight combo?

    • @TeamIcarusRC
      @TeamIcarusRC 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It was legal when he did it, its illegal now. So that's a no. And they weren't exactly so much technical glitches, as more of physical problems; the first problem was a physically snapped cable, and the second was that the balloon ripped out two of the lobes of his video transmitter antenna when it was released from the plane. Not sure how many lobes there were in the first place, but a typical one consists of 3 or 4.

    • @TeamIcarusRC

    • @MarcMERLIN
      @MarcMERLIN 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +Ken Morton Lipos are pretty soft and get sliced in pieces easily. The part where they catch fire is not good, but if they go through a jet engine, I'm not sure that would be a huge problem.
      The only problematic piece would be the RC motor itself, which is a pretty dense piece of metal, but thankfully it's not that big.
      As for a foam plane damaging a full size plane, I think you're overweighting the risks. It's not impossible but I'm pretty darn sure it's much less likely than people think.
      A metal and carbon fiber quadcopter however, that's a different ball game. It would definitely damage a plane and a jet engine, guaranteed.

      Martijn Denecker my kidding set aside, both yan-Deriction and you are doing it wrong if you're just talking about "drones".
      a 2kg foam plane with plastic propellor vs a 2kg metal or carbon frame quadcopter with the carbon blades that actually slice your finger, are so not the same thing in case of impact.

      Jeweby Chewy coming from a globe tard that doesn't know what a fisheye lens is. What a bunch of idiots saying this is proof of curvature. Even if the earth were a globe, you are the one that looks stupid when you say that obviously distorted images are 'proof' the earth is not flat. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that you probably also believe everything you see from NASA.

      I'm not a flat earther I think it's a little silly but overall not impossible based on their arguments but he is right this video wouldn't be sufficient evidence against it. It's close because this guy is independent and did this himself but the lense does make it not adequete proof for them which kind of makes sense. But still the arguments they use are hard to imagine. "Earth isn't a planet and that's why it's not spherical like everything else we can see with private telescopes" is something one guy said to me lol.

      @@gamerachievements5087 Bruh, can you grasp the fact that the size of the curve would not fit in any wide angle view a camera or the eyes can see? Thats why you can only see it from far and even then it looks like a flat disc because you dont have eyes half the size of the planet to see the sides below and above it at the same time which would look like a globe, the only shape in all the galaxies that can move in any direction generating gravity pull and atmosphere.When flatearthers put a real photo of a square planet or a triangle looking one pigs gonna fly.. till then lets stick with facts which get boats,planes and cars to the destination daily...

    when I told the flat earther that the earth is actually round, they didnt believe at me.
    I use Nasa as reference.
    but they still didnt believe in NASA. they said, that Nasa is a big conspiracy . Lol..
    then I show this video to them, Now they are thinking that david windestal also a part of Nasa :v
    poor people.

      Lol tell me something new... I have said years that they should sell their tinfoil hats for scrap metal, or put together go fund me campaign to buy a ticket for ISS or the fucking moon, do what David did here or just buy a fucking telescope, but no...
      There was some studies done on conspiracytards and what was discovered they are in constant "feel good" hormone trip, cause they think that they know something that no one else knows. Its literally a addiction for them and reason why they wont listen anything that wont reinforce their already deluded beliefs, guess same goes for religious nuts jobs, cause its not like they are willing to listen and comprehend ether...
