    I'm forever in love with Soule's work from the early 00s era. This kinda music defines fantasy and worldbuilding within me to this day and will likely stay that way for life.

    Nothing will bring back this. Handdrawn backgrounds, sublime music and atmosphere. Black Isle Studios, Bioware...where are they? If you want to play quality games I have a list for ya: Disco Elysium, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, Divine Divinity (and just about anything else those madmen put out). Hope we'll see a revival but it is unlikely. People don't like to read or think for that matter. What happened to Plancescape Torment's dialogues? When you just CLICK on a person and you get a paragraph of description. So beautiful.

      good idea

    • @lemystere5345
      @lemystere5345 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I agree. The reason behind this is because the motives and interest of the developers were founded upon integrity and a genuine desire to make the best game they possibly could. For example the lead developer and writer of Black Isle's Baldur's Gate had purposefully read every Forgotten Realms written at the time prior to writing the content for those games. You don't see that type of dedication in today's developers; and if you do, it is isolated to just that person rather than the entire team sharing the same fire. Gamers from that generation cared more than today's new generation of casual gamers.

      I always equated Buldur's Gate with the intimate struggles of the Hero's Journey, but Icewind Dale was laid out as the cold, merciless life of mercenary adventurers. Those that venture to the Spine of The World dare not hope for beauty and freindship, only to survive one more day.
