@@shadodovahkiin3951 Guilty until proven innocent, eh? For the record, Nathalie Lawhead, for example, pushed heavily the narrative that the lead of Fight Knight abused her girlfriend (and that Boen and just about everyone lied in rebuttal) when it was pretty much the other way around and the girlfriend was in severe need of help regarding her mental health. So as it stands, it's much easier for me to take what she says with a huge grain of salt. Avellone's guilt was pushed hard as well and it turned out to be false. Nobody apologised.
Anyway, with Soule we may never know the truth; he could've done something or he might have not. Hell, without a literal FAN who was diligent enough to dig through the accuser's social media Avellone's case might've not gone over that well in the end either.
It's sad how accusations have turned out to be verdicts in themselves with people having 100% conviction that the accuser is correct until the very last moment (or even beyond) and then just backing away not even saying sorry if it turns out to be wrong. Each false accusation just hurts innocent people while also eating away credibility of those who have actually been subject to sexual assaults or harassment.

@@shadodovahkiin3951 Isn't liar someone who you really shouldn't believe especially if they're the ones making the accusation?
I obviously don't know if Nathalie lied in this instance (regarding Soule) - or who is telling the truth for that matter - but going around telling people how someone did something as a fact while it was never proven is quite wrong in my opinion.
Honestly, one doesn't have to believe anyone in this instance since it never went anywhere beyond word against word accusations.

From the 70's to the 90's very little had changed due to the limitations of the hardware, and medium. CD's revolutionised the idea of what you could ship with a game, starting pretty much with Myst in '93 - so it's particularly amazing when you think that chip (imitating) to midi (synthesising) to sample (duplicating pre-recorded content) to multi-sample-the-entire-orchestra-so-I-can-do-anything (true musical arrangements from hundreds of samples of single notes or complex orchestral harmonies) happened in really the last 5 years (over the lifespan of the PS1) and by 2001 you had actual orchestral scores played by real orchestras in games like Hitman 2 and Halo meshed seamlessly with those complex multi-samples.

The song hides a cautionary story. You have the Elven leader Larrel reduced to a spiteful shadow, mourning the loss of his daughter and people at the hands of orcs abetted by dwarves who sold elven weaponry for profit.
That’s what what he would like to believe.
In truth his daughter died fighting by the dwarves’ side as they too fell to the orcish yoke. And the short fellows never betrayed elves either: A Drow had stolen all of their innovation and sold it to the orcs, allowing them to overrun both civilisations with ease.
It would be easy to blame the Drow for all of the meaningless death and destruction. But it is too simple: The Drow had no qualm with neither elf or dwarf - he only wanted money.
The truth is that the two people had doomed themselves through mistrust and prejudice. If they stood united they wouldn’t have kept to themselves in times of need. If they were more trustful they would have realised the source of the menace and would have dealt with it together. If only.
But Larrel didn’t. And through his failure the elven leader remains stranded from the afterlife, trapped in his own grave. A once learned man he treads among the stars yet sees nothing except his own misplaced hatred which had ruined himself, his people and his own flesh.

    • @Nova-oc2ry
      @Nova-oc2ry ปีที่แล้ว +2

Very true and well said, it was indeed mistrust and prejudice that doomed both peoples.
And on the topic of Larrel and his failure to protect the Hand of the Seldarine, i love how it feels like he is "redeemed" in the end of the second game. Helping in ultimately defeating the next big threat to the north, meaning that his great failure did not end up being in vain.

It speaks of mysteries unraveled for a great purpose, our great purpose
This is something worth living for, worth dying for, what brought us here, what made us, what made us survive, what gave us dominion, what will make us ascend and finally outlast time itself
All else merely supplemental to its great cause, its great purpose, our great strength
This should be our true legacy, our real heritage, our utmost pride
But we are not there yet, not yet
Either we get there, or we become extinct, I believe the former will be achieved, I have faith not necessarily when I look at what I see today, but more so when I look into the past and its greatness, and the fruits it brought us today, just how far it made us leap, nature unable to keep pace, the animals powerless to our great strength, the very universe in fear that we might one day master it
Its not dark anymore when one lives with this knowledge, its not dark at all, it all starts brightening, it becomes so bright, it becomes worth, all worth it, all the suffering, all the despair, all the effort, all the sacrifice, it gives reason, a powerful foundation to stand upon, a great light to guide one
