Tried having this running as background music during a DnD session. Ended up having it as the accompaniment for a sea burial after a nasty fight killed a lot of the sailors we were travelling with. One of our friends sung a sailors farewell as my character managed to catch a glimpse of a ghost ship aside ours that the spirits of the dead sailors climbed onto to depart to the next life. This music really helped that moment hit home, so thanks for that.

We'd been lost from Finland, our single ship. We wanted to know what the Swedes and Nords knew. We were lucky on trading along the way, and were strong even as we viewed the great island of Arthur. We knew not how to speak as the Gauls, so we stuck north. As the food ran low, we managed to sight a decent place to beach. Nobody greeted us. Deserted it seemed. A dozen boats in drydock. At least 50 edifices... homes. We had coin and else to trade... but there was nobody. Where were they? As captian, I determined there was no choice, and ordered a search for anything useful. Night fell as we had our single meal of the day. We ate found leathery dried fish we found... and our last bread. Then... eerie sounds. Etheral howles. We circled round the fire, and one cried "the cursed dead come for us!" As they surrounded us, our axes ready, another sight stiffened our backs. Ghosts came, slaughtering the unlivng horde. Who can say how or why? Whatever happened here, years ago? The unliving now honored that title... and a single geist, pointed to a wall on the hill. The next day we followed it on up. There were may slaughtered at a temple of tall rocks in a circle. We found a half dug hole at this battle site, and felt we should dig further. What we found ensured our survival. We crossed the great water to a beautiful place, the medicine or magic of our finds taking us there and back... I keep a gilded hammer, now, in my home. It will go to my lineage. I slew the Naga and many pirates with it. It will protect us from the Bear of Endless Winter. I'm sure of it.
I don't think I've seen or heard of costal towns/villages in medieval fantasy before. Mostly in dense forests or mountains, so this is a nice touch! Edit: So it seems I'm not that much of a fantasy-lover as I thought. I have a lot of catching up to do from what the replies have said. Thanks for the suggestions!

Me and my ex-boyfriend used to make a web - comic together. I would write the scripts and he would make most of the drawings. We broke up not long after publishing the first chapter and we haven't been in touch since. While the dream of making that story might be over, I still remember I always used to put this particular playlist on every time I wrote a script (In fact, a big part of the inspiration from the story came from the style of Ithya's journey), and it brings me such a feeling of wonder, excitement, and journey like no other playlist I know. From time to time I listen to it again, it reminds both of the good times we had together and also fills me with energy to go on writing. Thank you very much Blue Turtle.
I think this is the ONLY playlist so far that actually helped me be 100% focused and have a clear mind. I've never written so many words without scenes and ideas jumbling around my head!
Inspired! Made a port town for my D&D campaign in my time listening. These mixes are always a pleasure to listen to, and I use them when my group has a session recap. (I throw the link to the video in our group chat so credit is given ^^)
I was just listening to this while writing in my D&D groups Roleplay channel while we wait for the next session! I get inspired too and find myself more in tune with my characters listening to Blue Turtle's mixes.
Been some time since I've played dnd. Would be perfect for my character. He is a Circle of the Land Druid, specifically a Coast Druid. Would love to play this theme as I am training or searching for friends.
Your videos have helped me work through major writer's block, figure out important details I could never have imagined I'd think of, and write pages upon pages of my story, which I've been stuck working on for about a year now. So happy to announce you've helped me write my 3rd chapter, and I couldn't be happier! Thank you, Blue Turtle, never stop what you're doing.
Hey man, don't mean to be an ass, but do away with this writer's block nonsense. It does not exist. I have experienced what you call writer's block, and I can tell you there is only one cure I know of: discipline. Write every day, a certain amount of times or up to a certain word count. Do it diligently and without fail, and do not despair if you felt your writing that day was uninspired, you can rewrite it some other time, but for the love of god don't let this "writer's block" stall your work. Inspiration is an uncertain gift, we cannot count to have it every day, so we must plan ahead and push through uninspired moments, and know to make the most out of our inspired moments. Wish you the best of luck, fellow aspiring writer
When listening to this I want to go to other worlds! At least by reading books, watching movies and playing games we can live more than 1 life. So see you in the tavern, with cheese and wine, and stories of our great adventures...
These playlists give me the exact same feel I get when I play BOTW (in a good way!!) and I didn't even think that was possible! This is so beautiful and inspiring
2:39 is the theme music i used for my longest campaign back in my hometown. Every other week for years, I would hit play and give my players the recap while that iconic pan flute riff plays. Still brings a tear to my eye, to be honest.
The vocal accents in For The Weary kept giving me such strange familiar vibes I had to turn off the video and wrack my brain for a few minutes- and I thought of the connection I was trying to make! It reminds me an awful lot of the vocalizations in Hozier's 'In The Woods Somewhere'; something about that particular musical device really scratches an itch in my brain. Love it.
i’ve literally had this running for about five or six hours now so I can work on my pirate novel. A godsend. The song always seems to change at the right time to fit the scene :)

Its only right that I track down the artists of this collection and thank them personally

This is maybe one of my favorites, I've listened to it a few hundred times over the past months. It has that feeling of awe and mystique, like the rumblings of a grand adventure without becoming to bombastic or resolute. In Plain Sight is probably my favorite, it reminds me of some of the vibes in Made in Abyss's soundtrack.
I`ve never expected a perfect playlist in terms of fantasy. I hope that future adventure games consider these tracks in their OST, because every single one of them is outstanding. And by the way, wherever Ithya is going, I wish her a great journey. May she return home full of glory and with interesting stories to tell next to the bonfire.
14:30 I came out to my mum. She actually believes me and apparently suspected, I really didn't trust she would. This was the perfect autoplay, man this video soundtracks all my emotional moments damn
Does the selection match the prompt? Absolutely not. Is this by FAR one of the best writing playlists for fantasy that I have ever, ever found? ABSOLUTELY YES. A+ taste in music my dude please do another one.
Almost two years ago, I wrote 2/3 of a novel. Since then, I’ve completely reworked the plot and was getting back to working on it… Then I clicked on this and suddenly I am rewriting setting and characters (and therefore the plot as well) because I love this vibe so much. Thank you, but also ???? AHHHHH What have you done to me??
Haha relatable, I'm supple towards other's influences in my creative works as well. The journey of a story growing up is always so bittersweet to watch
I appreciate the kind replies. I wrote a really strong outline, got down a pretty good chapter 1, then hit a depression wall. This is going to be quite the process, so I’m grateful for the support :)
@@LuckAndStarfish I'm a writer too, so I tend to undergo a plethora of emotions in terms of how I feel about my writing and the content itself. Listening to this as we wrap up our two year long Ghost of Saltmarsh campaign. Gotta be honest, stirs some feelings prepping for our last session while this plays in the background.
I think I found an "easter egg" middle of the beach, there is a grass covered rock (to the left of a pyramid shaped rock and some huts) I first noticed what looks like a fish tail to the left of the rock (makes contact with the water). Then, on the surface of the rock, if you use your imagination you can make out the outline of a woman sitting, looking down and to the right. Considering this is a fantasy world, it would be a nice touch if that " fish tail" rock moved a bit, every now and then.
I love this! This entire playlist has me hooked, I love writing coastal village stories. The story I'm writing now is a Hunger Games fanfiction with a new and unknown village thats made entirely of bamboo and it surrounds a beach and it has a jungle on this island. And the village itself takes place on an island on the other side of the world and it too is surrounded by the ocean like the capitol. However its filled with refugees from the second war as well as their children and grandchildren. The story itself takes place thirty years after Katniss destroyed President Snow and President Coin. And anyway the island of PTSD refugees have to start holding a hunger games due to the food shortage on the island. Its got Moana themes regarding the islander life style and how there's fish lacking in their reefs and the refugees don't think its safe to travel away from their island because a long time ago Highbottom put underwater bombs surrounding the outter parts of the ocean and these bombs coincidentially surround the island. So this unknown island is basically surrounded by a death trap and they physically cannot leave the island. Hence the growing food shortage and growing population becoming an issue. They even now have a law where a family can only have up to two children per household as a way of trying to prevent the food shortage growing scarce. And these refugees from the war thirty years ago had come together and created another hunger games. How they got to the island was one point in time, fifteen years prior to the war being over, where the bombs were deactivated but due to a technical error code, the bombs were active AGAIN. So now the people on the island were basically screwed and stuck on this island for fifteen more years on end, creating a village out of bamboo with a growing population and a slowly shortage of food because the plants arent producing enough food and the wildlife also isnt producing enough. The fish populous also happens to have migrated and shifted to the other side of the world so the people on the island are unable to provide enough fish for everyone. Again, hence the hunger games to try and lessen population. Also the hunger games isn't just for children. This particular hunger games is actually directed at the people who don't have enough life skills, meaning not only kids are picked and if anything this hunger games is different from the older hunger games. And this hunger games is made to keep the population under control as well as get rid of the "talantless rejects that can't do anything right" basically getting rid of the people who are incompetent and can't hold a job. Since its all about survival and the weakest links get chosen to fight to the death. You'd think they'd put their kids but in reality, the refugees thought instead of just sending kids off to the reaping, they should send the adults who don't have proper knowledge nor experience on survivalist skills. They also thought to send the elders into the hunger games because the elders were more likely to go "sterile" regarding the population. Its a backwards hunger games. Ultimately the winner of this islander hunger games is decided on getting a larger portion of food for that year and it's held in a dome made of bamboo and vines and wood. And unlike before, these hunger games don't have mutts but wild apex predator animals-like tigers-that are captured in the jungle and brought to the dome for the hunger games each year. My protagonist is an OC that just so happens to be the daughter of Katniss and Peeta. Their "third child" that I created even though in cannon Katniss and Peeta only had two kids. I added a third child who leaves home when shes fourteen to adventure across the land where she gets on a boat and ends up stuck on the island where she has to survive and is chosen for the hunger games fifteen years later! And all because she'd gotten fired from her job as a house builder. But it's not entirely her fault since her boss is a womanizer. But due to her being fired from her job, her name was placed in the "rejects bowl" which is the bowl used to randomly pick the twenty four tributes for the hunger games. And unlike before, they don't have districts, they just have one very large village. Its got roman empire themes to it, just like the original hunger games. Sending people to fight to the death for sport and winnings. Yknow? So Its a whole fanfic I'm writing and I honestly loved this playlist you've made since it fits the theme regarding the islander village lifestyle in my fanfic. Here's emoji's to show my appreciation! 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡

I just discovered this playlist today, and I have to say, it has made my long awaited DnD campaign fucking awesome. We havent played in several months, and this music hits just right. Weve been stuck sailing the ocean for weeks, weve been attacked by a rolling black and green sentient fog that dropped a slew of undead on our boat. After a hard fought battle, we lost lots of good sailors, and nearly lost one of our strongest party members. After sending off the sailors with an ocean burial, one man on a personal mission chased the fog in his dinghy, after a brief farewell. I dont know if you have any idea how perfect this music is. Thank you Blue Turtle. You have my love, and my support.
I've used this every day for the past week to help me work on my grad degree homework. I absolutely love this! just to remind everyone doing schoolwork listening in, you are more than a career or a degree, take time for yourselves to really live life and do things that make you happy!

Never heard of Buckkeep, right on the coast of Buck Duchy ? You should grab the next ship, I'm sure it's heading there.

Damn dude, sounds rough! Make some time for you! Hope it went well.

Ghostwriter here. This playlist is changing my life. It's helped me write some pretty heavy content. Thank you for sharing.
*raises fist above head* You can do it!!
Keep writing!
Your life must not be worth living if some youtube playlist can change it. Go outside, stop being so pathetic
This helps me so much while writing my novel about the ocean and the selkies ! I love it ♥ Very inspiring.
Keep going, friend, it'll be worth it!
This is so beautiful and inspiring
hell yeah it kinda gives me that Hateno village vibes, on a mountain village near the sea

Love it.
Wow! I am so impressed with the beautifully constructed music. So much more interesting than 90% of other ambiance videos.
i’ve literally had this running for about five or six hours now so I can work on my pirate novel. A godsend. The song always seems to change at the right time to fit the scene :)

I just realized that the tower in the background looks a lot like the tower outside the tavern in the Rainy Day Piano video...

There also seems to be the stink spirit/water spirit from Spirited Away in some of the videos, it in this one at 00:00:29.
Listening to this while reading Warbreaker. As a fantasy book that takes place in a more colorfull and tropical, seaside city it fits well.

Absolutely love your work! Thanks for this beautiful music collection, can't wait for the graphic novel to come along well!
No matter how much time passes between hearings, this will always be at the top of my list. It’s so good. Gives me goosebumps.
This is just like I envisioned the village my rogue grew up in and for some reason that makes me emotional :')
A year after finding this and it's still one of my absolute favorites.

this makes me want to write again :))
One of my absolute favorite playlists. Especially the first song and then 41:44 to the end
I think this is one of my favorite Blue Turtle playlists. Terrific choices of music.
I think I found an "easter egg"
middle of the beach, there is a grass covered rock (to the left of a pyramid shaped rock and some huts)
I first noticed what looks like a fish tail to the left of the rock (makes contact with the water).
Then, on the surface of the rock, if you use your imagination you can make out the outline of a woman sitting, looking down and to the right. Considering this is a fantasy world, it would be a nice touch if that " fish tail" rock moved a bit, every now and then.
This helped me clean my room. Thanks Blue Turtle

Reminds me of my visit to Marzamemi, Sicily. A similar tiny port town with a sleepy vibe
I'm really enjoying this project of yours, it's a really cool way to do storytelling!!
