With all the surfaces being flat, seems like you could quickly dry it with a window squeegee.
and no risk of scratching the clear coat cause it doesn't have one
Now crazy Kyle can drive a clean truck back through the snow again.
Spray it with WD40. 🤣😂
@@Notfiveo0 Well now, did he say if they ever put wax on it?
as a former truck driver and a Cybertruck fan, I really wanna see what the chrome guys could do to it .. I have brought in some really REALLY bad company trucks before when I first started I would have my tractor detailed...Ya, I want a Mirror polished CyberBEAST with some old school KC highlighters on top sitting on Thornbirds .. Now I wanna see what one with a set of black bull bars (not horns) looks like on it
Per Sandy Munro’s team. That piece near the caliper is suspected to aid in small overlap crash safety.
The thing you pointed out at 13:40, according to the recent underbody review by Munro and Associates, is possibly a small overlap crash countermeasure meant to cause the wheel to crumple in a crash and prevent crash intrusion into the cabin.
I'll just say that cleaning your car after getting it quite dirty is very satisfying and therapeutic. It's great to see a nice fresh new vehicle. Then you go get it dirty again, rinse and repeat.
At the very least between major washes, it's good to wipe clean the safety-related parts like the licence plates, lights, and cameras.
he single handedly wash that truck. impressive
Geez Louise!
Lmao
As long as he keeps his good arm away from the power frunk
@@h8GW Yep cause the other one can't get stuck there.
🤔And he could use someone to lend him a hand once in awhile!
Love that you keep on stanless, because my plan is to keep it original until i'm tired of the fridge look 😄
DIY Detail TH-cam channel is doing a Cybertruck detailing series, and they have a specific ceramic coating for metal. The prep was interesting as they had to do multiple passes with their panel prep spray in order to get it fully clean before coating.
They specifically described to never use abrasives on it (like Barkeeper's Friend) because it will create an uneven finish on the stainless. The factory brushed finish was done with orbital sanders and that finish will be hard to duplicate until someone figures out what abrasives and process are used by the factory.
I'd say that the streaks on the frunk are silicone based, I work with sealing and bonding different pieces together and I've seen this happen when an area is contaminated with silicone. Most deodorants and such have silicone in them, but it can also be from some process in the factory. The only way to get it out is to wipe it down with IPA and a paper towel, wipe in one direction only and switch to a new towel each wipe, then you can test with a water film again and see if its gone. Repeat if necessary
Been using Simple Green since I first saw you use it in one of your first videos. Love it
When I was in the Army we used Simple Green.
Based on your early recommendations for using Windex on stainless steal finger prints etc., I used it to get bugs off the front of my CT after a 330 mile (one way) trip from SOCAL to Monterey, CA and back. I just sprayed it heavily all over the front. Then used a soft cloth to easy wipe it off. Also, cleaned the big front windshield with it. Seems to be easy solution for me.
My Ryobi electric leaf blower does an excellent job of removing water after a wash.
😂😂
Kyle I’ve been an avid fan of your channel for 8 months, love the content. Colten did an amazing job getting your CyberTruck all nice and spoiffy‼️ Colten really explains all the different products and methods he employed to get that baby back to spec.
Curious about your ccomment that the cyber can’t off-road like the Rivian. Would love to see you do a Cyber Rivian challenge ‼️
Took delivery of my CT in Jacksonville about 24 hours after yours. They pretty much admitted that they had virtually no training on prepping the trucks much less a seven stage process. Hopefully they will be able to address it for our trucks and going forward.
So..., PPF b4 taking delivery? Tesla can invoke digital color as well as subcontractors, right? Any flat yellows to help recall my old '56 'Vette? Not just for bugs, but to reflect heat away? Any parts that can be left bare to retain some of that Starship feel?
they definitely do not, ceramic spray wax and deliver...
Been looking forward to this for awhile!
Strangely satisfying watching someone wash their car
Great Video... Please have more car care videos with Colton
Well done!
Love the dynamic between the two of you. Great questions asked by the camera man and generally a cool video production!
Awesome video
Thanks for this video im trying to track the best way to handle this truck till I take delivery. I was looking at your amazon list but I didn't see the turbo nozzle listed? which one specifically is used in this video?
Why am I watching this? 😂😂😂😂😂
Coleton, Thanks for your informative and helpful content on how to keep Teslas looking nice. I have a 2023 S Plaid in black with cream interior. Your tips help me keep my Plaid looking good.
Kyle, Thanks for all the great content. I plan to copy your wheel and tire choice: 20 x 10.5 Martian wheels, square set up with 295 Michelin 4S. But everything was on sale and now seems to be sold out. Question: do they plan on restocking?
very satisfying asmr up in here
Nice truck ❤
Question, 🙋🏽♂️ are you still using the bar keeps friend soft scrub or are you using the liquid form?
Colten, what kind of rolling detail stool is that, does it also have lockable casters?
Awwwww that felt good! Now it's time for a Colorado mud bath. Perhaps a few laps around the local dirt track after a good rain or a heavy snow.
So..., PPF b4 taking delivery? Tesla can invoke digital color as well as subcontractors, right? Any flat yellows to help recall my old '56 'Vette? PPF not just for bugs, but to reflect heat away? Any parts that might be left bare to retain some of that Starship feel?
What waterless cleaner do you recommend?
So I looked up the rotating cone tip that you used here, and I am a little confused. The reviews are saying that the cone tips are 0 degree jets that rotate into a cone. Is this something that you only used because cybertruck has no paint? Or are these safe to use on painted vehicles as well? I also don't see it listed in the amazon list.
I'd love to see a video on different stainless sealers and protective layers a la "Everbrite ProtectaClear". Those guys come to mind because they're selling a kit specifically for CT. There's gotta be some sort of option out there for folks who want to maintain the raw look with minimal upkeep.
Have you tried dawn dish soap for cleaning the truck. I know professional window cleaners that use it as their primary window cleaner. It might work for the stainless as well.
9:30 What dilution ratio did you use for the carpro reset?
I'm curious how TarX and IronX plays with the stainless steel.
Kyle, what truck you like more. The Hummer ev launch or Tesla Cybertruck?
A wrap on these trucks seems to be a must.
Got a link to the telescoping mop you used?
24:50 talking about how hot the hood gets, how long until there is a video of frying an egg on it?
that could be a feature! interestingly someone posted the data to compare the cybertruck stainless with painted teslas. the results were 106f for stainless, 144f for solid black, 140f for midnight silver, 107f for white.
That weird piece in with the front wheel was looked at by Sandy Monroe on one of there break down videos either the underbody or suspension
"get the mitt out again Colten"😂
The small hand mitt?
The ought extra piece is NOT a mud scrapper (at 3:40 in) but most likely part of the safety system once you had a frontal crash to crack the front wheel rim so that that wheel is NOT penetrating into the passenger cabin, thus keeping passengers safe.
Cool !
Ooo... all without a glove on your hand..! (i've been using simple green for years now, but it sure extracts the oils from the skin!)
Hopefully when you wrap it, you tint the front side windows too. I would also suggest a color (possibly matte colored) ppf vs a vinyl wrap.
ProtectaClear after BKF seems like a good option.
What happens in Salt air environment! Rust out in a Year?
On March 13, I had the warning on my Cybertruck of the "tonneau cover used too many times. Wait before using again." Then on March 14 it stopped working altogether. Once I got back to Florida, Tesla service had to realign the tonneau cover twice in order to fixe it. It hasn't stopped working since they fixed it. I think it was just misaligned from the factory. Waiting to see if it fails again.
Was the SS not supposed to require less cleaning and maintenance?
Think of rust like a mold. My kitchen sick never had any rust, until one day I left something rusty in it. Had I not sanded it out, it would eventually rust a hole. Bare stainless steel is only rust resistant until it comes into contact with something already rusting, like iron particles. The cybertruck (bare) is more vulnerable to contact rust.
you need an overhead spray arm like they have at car washes
Cleaned mine with the foam cannon and a microfiber dry, pretty easy but the wrap goes on next week 😅
Can you drive with only one hand .is it difficult to drive
I would try finishing with jojoba oil. Environmenally safe. Could make a big difference in stain resistance. Food grade silicone. even carnuba or syntheic waxes, or ceramic finish could be good. Detilers will have it sorted out pretty fast and there will be some $100 special product.
I just saw the movie 6 times in 3 days and I will continue watching the movie on theaters, I really love it!!!❤❤❤
They were talking about the thing at 13:51 on Munro, probably for crashes to help sheer things off quickly. th-cam.com/video/qb-uVS9Fz90/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OoYPA6f0zCMueAZA&t=474
I wonder how long the tires will last
49:26 thats why its called stainLESS steel and not stain proof steel. It stains less than normal steel.
What about opening the bed after wash?
Reminds me of the HON 700 Series🤔
Kyle, watch out, a better presenter is nearly here, well done Coulton
There’s a post on facebook using this video thumbnail saying the truck shut down after wash lol
Two spotted recently. One white, one red.
My buying simple green by the buckets now!
Can you use gasoline instead of soap?
1. The DeLorean owners manual specifies good ole gasoline as a choice of solvent.
2. Gasoline is very very strong so i think all that minor stains can be dissolved.
Once you are done with cleaning what if you coat it with a thin layer of vegetable oil just like a cast iron pan would haha. It may help from developing a patina or stains
Ha ha ha! Spend around $100,000 for an electric Cybertruck and wash it with gasoline! Sounds hypocritical to me.
I couldn’t help notice that you had the beast still plugged in while putting foam on it.
Try nano-ceramic coating for metal (not the same as ceramic coating for plastic / paint)
MUNRO spotted that “mud scraper” in their first look under the CT video and surmised it’s there to help the truck pass the NHTSA frontal offset crash test. Its job is to prevent the front wheel from entering the passenger compartment like a battering ram, either by breaking the rim and deflating the tire, or by breaking it off the spindle and directing the wheel outward in the event of a crash.
17:03 those wheel well liners aren't made of carpet. They're a polyester fiber composite.
@18:19
Charging and washing the cyber beast is wild
If this were high grade stainless there wouldn’t be a discussion about stains etc. The only change over time would be micro scratches cutting against the original brushed metal in varied directions. Like a 70 year old stainless mixing bowel thats metal doesn’t look a year old. It’s apparent the cyber truck is a low grade stainless steel.
@40:04 cyber truck rusting?
What are "D.A. marks" that you guys mentioned?
DA stands for Dual Action. He is talking about a random orbit DA sander. I guess the factory is using DA sanders to get the finish on the truck. They leave concentric swirls.
I think the CT is far more resistant to road salt than people think. I also think it looks beautiful when it's dirty.
You could take a look at DIY Detail metal coating to protect the stainless steel, they just release a video about it 😉
Ordered. And will be testing!
Yea this guy studied this not exactly when Elon first announced the truck but he's passionate with this
how many memory photos of family can fit on this
hey I just got one- probably first woman east of MS. Calling mine #cybrina "
Looking for quick wash method without using pressure washer. I didn't see a foam cannon recommendation. Can you recommend? Awesome videos! Thanks🧨🧨🧨
Colon you is so handsome!
bug catcher front, needed more angle IMO
Another scrubadubdub asmr video from Coleton woohoo!
can you really charge the car while washing? Genuine question.
I've had my Tesla since 2013 and frequently charge it in heavy rain. It was a weird feeling at first to know you're dealing with 400V etc. - but never had any issue and no-one has ever been shocked. I would say it is OK to wash it while it's charging
@@MartinGalway dripping water is fine, but water pressure still ok? i didnt see it but colton might've sprayed on the charging port.
Curious about the Everbrite stainless coatings. It would be interesting to see a video on that
That is what I have for my Cybertruck.
@@CarlosThomas in your experience how does it look and how is it holding up so far?
Still sitting in a box. I have washed it once. The next time I wash it, I will then follow there instructions and barkeeper it, etc., then apply it. Then let it sit for 4 days. Just need to find the right aim to do it.
3:12 thanks for confirming that the "7 stage sanding" stuff was nonsense all along Kyle! There's just NO way they're doing this, at the SC's or the factory.
Imagine, Tommy's Express car wash does this in under a minute.
Sheila Shine friends. You're welcome.
WD-40 is the best thing to clean Stainless steel
Not on the CT unfortunately
What is the PSI on your water jet? I'm thinking of buying one
NVM I think I found out by looking in your Amazon store listings. 1600 😊
That’s Tobacco Spit!
The drivers side wheels.
I remember back in 2019 thinking it'd be cool to own a Cybertruck because you could just take it to a regular carwash and not have to worry about the brushes marring the finish. Now it turns out they will be harder to maintain than a normal painted car. The assumption back then was that a Cybertruck would never rust or scratch from anything of course.
Actually the other CT owners in town and I decided to use car washes. Never did that with my MY or M3. On balance my CT may be clean more frequently than the others😊
27:00 It’s easier to get rust dust off your cybertruck than a painted vehicle.
Of course you can take it through a carwash, what are you saying?
@@retro1120 It will rust and scratch, apparently from what I've seen on news feeds etc
@@fcv1967 apparently you've only read the click bait headlines not the thorough discussions.
The original "shake and bake" is what the lead car does to disrupt the air to the following car to prevent them from drafting and launching themselves around to pass on the final lap. Shake off the follow car and bake toward the finish line keeping the lead.
did you lease ? or buy? wondering how they will hold value? might be best to lease..?
Amazing how cool they are with washing that thing while it's charging lol
@@ArbitraryFilmings sure. But I don't trust stuff like that lol.
But how much water got in the bed?!?
Tesla instructs owners to remove bugs an bird poop off the stainless immediately. I wonder when Tesla will begin clear wrapping them at the factory?
@22:42 was that a fart??? lolll
Watching this video after possibly taking a on a detail of a cyber truck haha. Please check out my tip holder invention it mounts with a little stretch to your sg35!
This is one long commercial. The Black Model is shiny.
