I'm ordering one of those Random Orbital Polishers for sure. Just spent the last 2 hours doing this process by hand on my Cybertruck. It's EXTREMELY effective. I only had 'rust' on my hood, all other panels were fine. But damn this process of BKF/Windex is awesome. Looks incredible! Thanks!!!
Future owners will be searching for this video for sure.
It's EXTREMELY effective. Immediately went and got a bottle of the BKF and went to work. Looks incredible.
Yes, please leave it 50/50 so we can see how fast the clean side fades and if the banding near the panel edges come back.
This video is essential. Thank you for your research and sharing us CT owners!
This looks amazing. Can you do the ceramic coating just to half the truck with the tape so we can see the difference after a day/week/month?
That’s exactly what I use to clean my SS kitchen appliances after nearly a decade of neglect.
I’ve found that a regular wipe down with windex is all I need to keep them clean. But barkeepers friend cleaned off years of smudges, fingerprints and grime. Lots of water, gentle rubbing with the sponge side of a blue scrubber with just a bit of cleanser, thorough rinsing with wet rag, and then final cleaning with windex. Perfection!
Great job guys and thank you for all of this information.
Thanks, Colton .. I used your "cleaning" method, to rejuvenate my SS garage cabinet countertop. I used my Mirka polisher, with a Rupes yellow pad. Worked like a charm. The Rupes pad cleaned up, with just soap and water. The 3 microfiber towels I used, went into the garbage.
Very handy tutorial
Really helpful and informative video here, thank you Coleton!
The Barkeepers is amazing. I did the entire truck in an hour. No different than waxing a truck with paint. I did the Windex step, but that left a mess, so after the Windex I washed the truck off with Optimum No Rinse Wash and Wax. The truck looks awesome. I'm curious to see how long it lasts.
I'd love to see a truck polished to a mirror finish!!
Great video!
Any chance you guys can film and edit in HDR, that would make things pop. Usually not bothered but for detailing I believe it would benefit the channel
Thank you!!
What a difference! Cant wait to detail my CT. Is the tape you use on the black trim just painters tape?
Great video. I can attest to this for my CT. The Bar Keepers Friend cleaner is legit. I try to do this once a month. Takes a long time, but worth it.
Enjoyed your details video was curious about what you were using on cyber truck. Looks like you’re having trouble finding some. I’m going to suggest an industrial option. This is in industrial applications as well as we use it on taker Trucks. you first have to clean the stainless of all debris iron deposits, etc., but it will keep the fingerprints off as well as bugs and iron Deposits EVERBRITE
COATINGS there’s two different types in a kit. A little bit goes along way I recommend thin coating’s . CrobialCoat with Microban I recommend this one. But the other one is called. ProtectaClear and then there’s the original. Everbrite Coating for Architectural Metal unfortunately without knowing exactly the type of stainless steel I’m not sure what is going to work best for your application, but I pretty much guarantee one of these will do what you want they’ve been around for a long time in the industrial industry and the protection last a long time longer than ceramic it’s kind of the ceramic coating for stain. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Great video. Question: are you sure your way of cleaning won’t damage the tri motor beast logos? Also, is there a way to “ceramic coat” it or wax or something like that to keep the clean side hose washable? Maybe Rain-X? Can you try that? (I just got my Beast!)
Can you apply a ceramic coat to seal the stainless steel to make washing/cleaning easier next time around?
Looks so much better clean. Though, it looks like that problem area on the edges of the front and rear doors is still discolored?
Do you have to clean the Yellow pads every so often as you go, or grab a new one? How many did you use to clean the whole truck?
Would love to hear the answer to this question
I know you criticize for only testing on a "fridge" but I just tried your barkeepers friend plus windex approach on my fridge and it looks freaking amazing
OMG, that's a lot of work and it will probably need it every week! There are a lot of CTs in the parking lot at the dealer near me, and they already look tarnished. I should get mine in a few weeks, and I was wondering if I should wrap it. I like the rust wrap even more now!
It took me about 2 hours to do it by hand. Ordering a Random Orbital Polisher for sure.
Hey, I was going to do this today, and you mentioned a coating you put on afterwards? I know you going to post a video, but can you share a link to the coating product?
Wow wow wow!! Thank you so much for showing this. You might have saved me the costs of wrapping my CT!!
Great video to save if the CT ever comes to Australia, and if I can afford it.
Is BKF safe to use on matte paint car? If not, any recommendations on removing iron spots on matte paint?
Since those oxidation spots are stubborn and somewhat dark, I'm curious if there's a way to give in to it and just oxidize the entire body for a consistent and smooth effect sorta like gun blue.
This will definitely need to be done again right before you guys get it wrapped.
I suggest a slight orange tinted matte ppf. 😂
Do you clean the foam pad after each panel? It seems like there's a ton of that black stuff that comes off on to it
How does ammonia-free windex compare to standard windex?
Is it possible to remove rock chip pitting? How about scratches?
I got up at the crack of dawn to do this to my 📐. Madmover is no longer orange and is shining very bright now. Thanks for doing the testing and sharing your knowledge.
How about the stainless steel sealer kit that bearded tesla showed? Are you going to try that? It's supposed to seal it so it won't tarnish.
Can't wait to try this on my Cybertruck, thanks for the tips great video
I saw some users say while it looked lighter, it took away the reflection and made it look cloudier and more matte finish. I think maybe some people won’t like it. Plus tesla is saying not to use windows as prolonged use damages the finish.
@@AR-rn8ok tesla doesnt want you to use windex because they want you to buy their useless $130 cleaning kit
@@AR-rn8okThe CT does have a matte finish though...its not a glossy finish...it could be hard to tell in video but in this video the barkeeper and Windex worked very well.. plus the CT has no clear coat on the stainless steel so you really could polish to whatever finish you personally prefer.
I just hope when I get one I won’t have all these problems just to clean it after a rain!
So how long is the patina removal lasting?
While watching your very first Cybertruck detailing video a while ago - I catched myself thinking why did not You use Kitchen Stainless steel cleaner ? ! You should also try Mister Muscle kitchen FAT removal spray - like for ovens and exhausts.- this one also works great on stainless kithen surfaces.
How many microfiber aplicators are you using when you clean the truck? I cleaned my front end and felt the foam aplicator had enough tarnish that it was done.
1, flip halfway though
Tesla cleaned my CT using Rupes D-A Course and a soft pad. They even gave me a bottle. The manual recommends CitriSurf 77. Have you tried either?
Rupes DA Coarse is of course a compound. I believe it could do similar work, but I worry with the specific abrasives in compounds that it could make the panel a mirror or splotchy. I’d much rather use BKF that is developed for stainless.
What manual are you referring to?

Can you try distilled water in a spray bottle, with the polisher?
I don't have a CT yet but now empowered with this knowledge I'll make sure my stainless Napoleon BBQ looks stellar!
I recommend you talk to me before your Everbrite video if you had problems. I had issues at first but i figured out how to make it work very well. I would hate to see a negative video about it if your are just missing some simple tricks.
There may be some ceramics that work better, and I look forward to those results.
it's your love touch that made it better
Take a look at the Everbrite metal coating kit for CyberTruck. I saw a vid a few days ago and it seems like it is the way to protect your Cybertruck finish. Fingerprint marks like all but eliminated.
Video coming Sunday on it. Spoiler alert, it’s a disaster.
@@OutofSpecDetailing Oh wow. Thanks for the reply. I look forward to it.
I love the stainless steel look.
Its a industrial freezer on wheels so im sure any kitchen working can give ya tips
Have you tried Bar Keepers Friend? It works miracles! I cleaned my 10-y.o. stainless steel pots and pans with it in no time - they look like new now!
Bar keepers friend is what he used in the video. Albeit the liquid version of it.
Polisher versus hand is really foam versus microfiber
I've already ordered all this stuff and will be doing the same. I grabbed 32oz of Everbrite to protect, we'll see how that works.
Video coming on Everbrite on Sunday. Spoiler alert, it was a disaster.
I put Everbrite on mine. It works well but there are a few things you need to know to get it right.
First off you need to put multiple coats each super thin. If you do it thick it will not come out nice.
Also I found that the suede applicators work, but that can have issues. To fix it I found that if you get, one of my favorite things from Amazon, AA cleanroom cloth wipes double knit 100% polyester with ultra fine filaments, laser sealed edge class 100 wipes. Wrap the suede applicator with a clean room wipe. Use that to apply the Everbrite in a super thin coat. Let it dry and keep applying until all the rainbow sections are gone. It will be super nice.
There is another issue you should know. The Everbrite scratches and some chemicals will eat at it. If that happens just get your applicator with the wipe on it and just touch up that one spot. It will fix it in one quick wipe. If it's really bad you can use acetone to clean off one spot and redo it you don't need to strip the whole panel.
Overall I really like Everbrite, but it does take a small about of care.
Oh side not the AA clean room wipes are excellent for cleaning optics gear like camera lenses. Use the wipe last to finish cleaning a camera lens and it will look new.
@@trottingwolf was it the original or the protectaclear? Really good info, thanks!
I wonder how often this would be needed. Maybe weekly?
Nobody has time to do that process by hand once a week nor would anyone want to do it. I have a CT reservation but all of this potential work to keep it clean is disheartening to say the least 😏
It will get dirty no matter what you do. That's just how it goes. It's very shiney, but the warm glow is just as nice. Simple wipe down with stainless steel cleaner is just fine.
I could never do this on the regular. I'd let you do it for me 😁 then get it wrapped.
They look better wrapped anyway
I never thought id see Windex get used on a vehicle for cleaning lol....but i have to wonder if it works so well, ehy not just use Windex as needed?
Oh hai. Welcome to owning stainless steel appliances for thirty years...
This car is wild but, honestly, seems like way too much work for such an expensive car.
I’d wrap that thing in a heartbeat. The rock chips are disappointing.
Either way, you e done probably the most comprehensive feasting on this thing wrt detail tips to date. Nice work.
Looks great. That banding effect between door panels gone. Poof 💨
Put a link to all your products above the comment section.
All in the description..
A crate of SOS pads !
Didn't you come up with the same conclusion a month ago?
When I was younger I befriended by a local Japanese man - he really helped me out with issues I was having with bullies - anyway, I always remember something he taught me that I think about when washing my car: wax on, wax off. It really does work.
Best way to remove any stains! SELL.
Ppf is the real answer… it’s basically a requirement of the truck
Try Scrubs.
If Windex works so well and is so cheap, why would you look for anything else? Even if the waterless wash works slightly better for at least 3x the money, probably more.
Haven’t watched the whole video. Didn’t you ask delorean owners as they’ve kept their shells in great condition I’m sure by collective information
The "Best Paint" is FINGER PRINTS !
The good news is you'll only have to do it 5 times a month.
Has anyone just tried Oxiclean and hot water?
Get's dirty in 2 mins - need to know what coating
You can wash them out and refill them with your own stuff.
Stainless steel isn’t stain proof, it stains less than ordinary steel.
a quick solution. Send it back to Tesla ;) since they can’t even put the metal panels on🤣😂💀
This is wayyyyy too much work. There has got to be a better solution.
Sounds like another full time job added to your life.
No time left for family or friends 🤨🥵
Sure way to remove all stains in an instant: Sell that thing while it's still fetching a decent price.
who are the people who buy these? its disgusting !
Easiest way is to not waste your money on a Cybertruck.
Hahahaha. Oh god that finish is just so terrible. What a hunk of garbage
Ok… and you own what car?
If you don’t like it then don’t buy it. Obviously not for you because you can’t clean a car. Every car that wants to look great takes immense amounts of work to stay clean. No car is exempt from needing to be cleaned contrary to your beliefs
@@ssing7113 I own a Cayenne turbo, a Jaguar, and a classic Cherokee at the moment and I hand wash and detail all of them myself. I’ve actually never taken a car through a carwash in my 40 years of driving and the first business I started was auto detailing in 1983 when I was in high school so I’d say I know a bit about the topic.
@@ssing7113I’ve never had to clean any of my vehicles with a polisher just for regular maintenance. And no it doesn’t take immense amounts of work to get a regular vehicle to look great. Just admit this CT is a bunch of trash
What a joke.
I am not gonna watch this video. If you need 30 mins to explain to me how to clean this truck, that's all I need to know not to get one.
The banding on the edges is the result of heat from laser welding the 1.8mm door skin to the door shell.
Suggestion: try using a non-scratch Blue ScotchBrite pad/BKF with a water hose on standby instead of a fabric based applicator pad. Simply rinse off the BKF residue and move on the next panel.
100k and you needed to search for the right stuff just to get it clean. 😂😂😂😂. Love watching everyone trying to justify the existence of this expensive can of turd.
You mad cause you can’t afford it ?
