Hi it's been 10 months since you posted this video and I would like your updated comments as to how the cybertruck is is doing after nearly a year of automatic car washes thank you in advance
operated a CarWash 15 years ago, most cars even back then needed a CW mode, electric parking brakes were the problem and the drivers did not know how to operate them, so cars braked and got stuck. Doors with IR sensors opened, gas caps had to be locked, all "modern" cards of the last 20 years have lots of issues in a carwash. And the is BMW series 5 on which the side mirror flip forward, stupid design and rips off in a carwash
I just took it through the Costco car wash and the only issue was at the end, I fumbled the Drive Out lol. Forgot you had to STEP ON BRAKES then you can switch to Drive. Got stuck a bit and I think the SUV behind me bumped me a few times but I checked the bumpers and no signs of anything. CyberTruck is a damn tank ha. Hope this helps someone first car wash. Its kinda panicky if you're not used to it. Otherwise, I just wiped it down and its fine. I do see some "swirls" on the steel but hey its a truck! Car wash is the only way 90% of time because the top is impossible to clean without ladders!
I run my MYLR through automatic car wash 2-3 times a week. No damage at all. So for those who hand wash at home, don’t waste your time, unless you have nothing to do.
I dunno, few million preorders that GMC could have had. Turned down my Sierra EV order as it is releasing as a 2024, and still has old CCS port, requires 7k equipment + 7k install for the V2H backup setup, and lacks the level of automation of the CT in many regards. The CT doesn't seem like such a bad deal, especially if backup your house with it (especially if already have powerwalls/solar). That and its kinda nice to have body panels that don't dent.
Thanks for this. I'd been taking my S with Ceramic coasting through a similar new carwash in Texas 2 times a week and the car always came out unscathed and looking great. I'll try Quik Quack now with my Beast. Hope it works on fingerprints
Yes, the windshield is tinted, I am guessing it's 20% as well. You can see at like 2:49 if you look close to the plastic piece in the middle of the windshield. Also, there is no way it would be the dark 'legally' from the factory.
Hi Khurram, Can you please tell me if you always used carwash for your FD CT and NonFD CT? If yes, does it scratch your stainless steel? And any ammonia in the washing process they use? Because ammonia damage the protective layer of stainless steel. This layer protects it from rust as well. Thank you
Hello Waqar. I have been washing at the automatic car wash since last year I got my CT FS, and also taking this one as well. I go to Quickquack car wash where they use ceramic car wash. I haven’t had issues with mine at all for rust or anything else. It did not pickup scratches from the car wash itself. I am about to get my truck wrapped as there are so many out there now. Hope my answer helps you. Thank you for watching.
@@MyGadgetsWorld thank you for letting me know. I use automatic car wash for my vehicles. Just like you mentioned in your video, I also don’t get time to wash them myself. BTW I’m in Toronto, Canada and I am getting my FS CT next week InshAllah. Let me know if you ever come to Toronto, we can meet and you can stay at my place.
Model Y instruction manual advises not to take through bristle car wash (only "touchless" automatic wash or handwash is advised) but I have been using bristle car wash to great success. Bristles wash cleaner than touchless and faster than handwash. Does Cybertruck instruction manual also advise against bristles? Thanks
Coleton tested ceramic products and they all make the truck look orange. See Out of Spec Detailing video. There's not much in that wash I'm sure, but you should probably opt-out of ceramic in the future. Apparently, Windex cleans the truck well, especially fingerprints. Great video, really well done and first we've seen a CT in a car wash.
This is an excellent video! Just like your video when you parked the truck in your garage for the first time, I'm impressed to see your real world use scenarios being documented.
beware that ceramic coating are leaving a residue effect. The best way to keep the stainless steel looking shinny and free of streaks, blemishes is to wipe it down with liquid form Barkeepers Friend and then spray and wipe down with Windex. Do this only on the steel parts not the plastic black parts
Did they really apply the windshield tint over what appears to be orange window chalk??? lol.. It's even directly right in front of the driver. Lovely.
This is what I wanted someone to do. Go to a car wash. We have Quick Quack here in California and are members. You did not get “Ceramic Duck”. You got “Lucky Duck”, which is probably a good thing because the ceramic duck has oils in it and probably would have smeared and looked bad. You can tell what you got because of the blinking light as your truck is going in. I think I will keep my Quick Quack and downgrade from the Ceramic Duck to the Lucky Duck. Maybe you will go back and get the Ceramic Duck to see what happens, but it looked really good coming out of the other end.
But the light on the right was flashing Lucky Duck. In California it flashes what you are getting and on the ceramic duck you get a graphic of a duck on your windshield as you drive thru. Please confirm. Again, thank you for doing this.
Thanks for the video. The water ingress was very minimal considering the copious amounts pouring on it. Any cargo would have extra waterproofing as required regardless of the truck. I pray for your prompt recovery, but do get a good amount of rest.
Wow, a truck that needs many things to happen just to make it safe to take into a deluge of water. So innovative! Now I need to worry about a lot more than just "are my windows up?"
It's just one button or voice command. I'm not sure if you're driving a Dodge Diplomat these days but newer cars have things like 'auto sensing wipers' that need to be cut off before going into a car wash.
Keep in mind it was very little water that got into the back of the truck despite the fact that it was a high-powered car wash so when it's raining without any pressure I don't think you should be much of an issue
So with an added wiper for the passenger side and a ceramic wash this ridiculous wash seemed better than one would expect with one roll through. The jackass behind seemed to be lost in the muck. But the Cyber Truck seemed to end up well and not ruined which was entirely possible with so much mud aboard and not using a garden hose to knock the huge mud clumpes off first. I would never do this as a test, just saying.
They used to say, ‘ Keep your eyes on the road.’ Now it’s, ‘ Keep your eyes on the infoscreen. ‘ EV’s are ridiculous but this is nothing but a nerdmobile.
I have a monthly plan at my local drive through car wash where I can go once a day and it is $25 a month. Oh and all I have to do is make sure all the windows are rolled up.
Do Not Wash your Cybertruck in an automated car wash. Tesla never thought that far ahead. It's a meme car meant for content creators. Washing it will cause a short circuit and chemicals used on car washes will cause the steel to rust quicker over time. The water will get trapped in some places causing more issues later on. Also remove the wheel cover on the side which has a flaw and damages the wheel. There is a recall on it.

Never had a vehicle that needed "car wash mode" for a simple carwash. Make sure windows are rolled up and good to go.
Without it the charge poor door can flip open because it has a sensor that makes it do that if it is pressed on.
Yet you understand not bringing a hair dryer to the bathtub. Think about it.

It’s not that serious. Most cars could use one to lock wipers and doors, and fold mirrors and set to neutral. Not necessary but appreciated.
Corvette and camero both have issues with leaking in car washes. I love reading comments like this lol

Does the car-wash mode checklist include closing the tonneau cover?
No. Good question though what if it was open 😱

Cybertruck is outselling all other EV trucks combined. So I don’t think GMC is so happy about it.
Cybertruck owner here, do you still have yours at the base stainless steel with no wrap? How is it holding up over time?
i wonder if they have snow mode, rain mode, water on road mode, salt on road mode, must have to change modes as the driving conditions change

Uhhhh the button is to close your mirrors to prevent them from damage and it makes sure it closes all your windows and tonneau cover. Get a clue!
You still have to put the car In neutral, and larger vehicles often have to fold in the mirrors, the only extra thing is pressing “Car wash Mode”
The leak isn't ideal when on a long road trip driving in the rain, it will wet most of the luggage inside
