    Got to be honest, love the fact that this is one of the smaller modern-day compact sedans. I want a compact. Honestly sick & tired of so many other automakers making mid-size cars just slightly smaller, labeling them as "compacts," and then selling them by advertising such things as how roomy the rear seats are; or how huge the trunk is. If I wanted a Mid-size sedan, I'd buy one. Been going on a few years now, with numerous brands. Happy to see Mazda not pulling that BS.

      I know, who needs back seats that fit a normal size human comfortably. Cramped, unusable seats is what we want. They're awesome! Lol.
      By the way, the new civic, with very comfortable, useable back seats, is 184 inches long. This mazda 3 with cramped, terrible back seats? 183.5 inches. So you might want to rethink your entire argument.

    I have the 2021 3Turbo 2.5 (not Premium package) and it is a very fun car to drive. The steering and handling in this car is underrated. It excels in hard sweeping turns. The sore point are the Bridgestone Turanza tires. They get very noisy soon and before you know it your once quiet refined 3 Turbo is loud and raucous from excessive road noise.

    • @Jackinacox

      Exactly what mine came with stock and you're right. I replaced mine with Michelin Pilot Sports (can't remember exact model, but the high performance all season version) and things are better all around now...noise, grip around corners and even a bit more comfort. I considered going with wider wheels and tires, but with the way the AWD drive system glues this car to the road I think all that would accomplish is more tire noise and slightly worse fuel economy..all for looking a bit better? Nawh, not worth it.

    • @jbm0866
      @jbm0866 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the hatch version and the rear seats are just at the useable level for anyone 6ft or under (I'm 6'1" and can sit behind myself, just barely) but not really that comfortable for anyone unless the trip is an hour or less. If you have young kids with car seats or regularly carry backseat passengers there are better compact options..but the Corolla hatch isn't one of them. To me it felt even tighter on legroom versus the Mazda 3 hatch. Sedan may be better, but doesn't interest me at all.

    You’re lookin good in it! You should join the 4th gen club! :) Been very very happy with my 6-speed 3 hatch. Manual is also a great transmission to drive and shifter and clutch feel very natural. Though you can tell it’s geared for fuel economy, especially from how far apart first and second gears are. Still fun to drive though. And I also love Mazda’s interior design philosophy of minimal info in the gauge cluster and click wheel infotainment. After a while, it gets built into your muscle memory how many clicks it takes to do common tasks. Wish I had that 360 cam on mine😭
    Oh and also, I’m kinda used to the hatch visibility after a while, and I’ve indeed carried around non-amputated average-sized passengers in my back seat and they haven’t complained lol.

      "And I also love Mazda’s interior design philosophy of minimal info in the gauge cluster and click wheel infotainment.”
      You have to love it, because what’s your other choice? But that’s changing, because other customers aren’t as easy to please as you are. Watch the next redesign. Touch screens and gauge dials that are actually helpful are coming. Mazda has to catch up.
      “I’m kinda used to the hatch visibility after a while”
      Tell me they screwed up the visibility without telling me. That’s an embarrassing statement for Mazda. That statement alone should get them to improve visibility, which is a safety issue. It’s not something you should get “use to”. You either have it or don’t, and the Mazda 3, especially the hatch, don’t.
      “in my back seat and they haven’t complained”

Then they were being nice. It’s terrible, and after actually sitting in the back seat of a new Mazda3, I’d feel awful for asking anyone I liked to sit back there. They should have made the car a 2 seater.

      I've had my 2021 turbo hatch more than a year now and still haven't gotten used to the zero rear visibility. Even with the backseat down and headrests out of the way the rear window (part you can actually see out of) is too small to be trusted. Camera and Blindspot monitoring are must haves, and I'd be screwed if either ever goes out on me🙈 Wonderful car otherwise, and fair trade of form over function imo. Any design change that increased rear visibility significantly would ruin the unique styling.

    I'll be totally honest, I'd rather not have any sort of lane centering system at all...good or bad. That and automatic braking (which has proven to be dangerous in many makes) are just trouble waiting to happen imo. Anyone who knows computer processing or electronics in general know they are prone to freaking out occasionally, especially with age. I'd rather pay attention and actually drive than face a scenario where my car swerves into the next lane and slams on the brakes against my will and without warning. Sure that may be an extreme scenario that isn't likely to happen, (many people do report auto braking issues causing quite the code brown in their underwear if you know what I mean) but without those systems it won't happen at all unless the nut behind the wheel loses their damn mind.😌 (Full disclosure, I have a 2021 Mazda 3 turbo hatch that has all these features..the only ones I willingly use are blind spot monitoring and auto hold at stoplights. I don't like the radar cruise. It's great in theory, but never behaves like regular cruise being manually manipulated by myself. I rarely ever tap the brakes to disengage cruise control unlike these auto systems which use way too much braking and don't think temporarily cutting throttle and coasting is an option..even set on the furthest following distance possible..smh.🙈)

    If you edit out every time you praise the interior you'd half the run time of the video.
    The interior is very nice, materials probably best in class, though I’m not as love with it as you are. I find the swoop (and double level of the dash) a little busy, way too much piano black, the fact the screen isn't touch screen is ridiculous, and 8 inches is simply too small.
    No power adjustments for the passenger seats in a 34,000 dollar car is embarrassing. The dial cluster is nice, but not near as customizable as several other cars in this class. Add to that unusable back seats, a smaller trunk than other compacts, and terrible visibility (hatch even worse), and for every positive for this car, there’s a negative to keep it company.
    Lastly, the trunk doesn't open on its own? You have to lift it? Cars 15,000 cheaper don't require you to lift the trunk. Unbelievable.
    Fun car, nice enough looking, strong engine. But it’s lacking in several areas, especially in practicality, again, with the hatch being even worse. But hey, look at all that leather!

    • @jordanduncan2136
      @jordanduncan2136 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Maybe I’m weird for this, but I highly prefer manual passenger seats. If I need something to fit, I’d much rather just slide the seat out of the way. Plus I have a pretty standard passenger, so once it is set it won’t really ever change much. But I take your point on that, I just personally prefer manual.
      I also don’t mind the infotainment or the lack of a touch screen. I hate that everyone loves touch screen because they’re generally a nuisance when you click something on accident or it glitches, not to mention the fingerprints.
      100% with you on piano black. That stuff can die a miserable death.
      Personally I am ok with the size of this car. Other compacts are growing too much, to the point the mid size market is all but obsolete. My wife and I are the only two who are in the car 90% of the time. 5% we have a dog. The other 5% is a child. This would fit us just fine. I’m also fine with opening the trunk. I don’t find that to be a problem. Our current ‘21 escape opens on its own all the time and I loathe the auto open tech now.
      You have valid points but I like that the Mazda isn’t like every other option in the class. I’d be more inclined to buy this over many of the others because I prefer the driving experience it offers. I think it’s a unique option in the market- though I completely understand why other buyers would have a list of negatives for their situation.
