That intro is incredible. Well done!
I used to own 2019 Mazda3 until I got 2021 CX-30 turbo. Lower the seat and thigh support all the way, and move the seat forward until your feet firmly touch the pedal and foot rest. Surprisingly, this solved my back pain issue.

Ian, there is this subtle humility about this video that made me watch it a good 10 times at least. Your narration is complementing Mike's upbeat approach with this laid back style, the way you did this is like Mazda paid you to do it. We're waiting for our first Mazda to arrive in a few weeks, and this made me excited to immerse further into the Mazda ecosystem. Kudos!

I’ve leased a white 2019 GS FWD 2.0 Hatch which was wasn’t for long but performed well . My wife brought it to Costco without me knowing to get an oil change, forget to take out oil pipe out of the engine then started it and completely destroyed the engine ( Costco paid around 20 grand to have a new 2.0 engine installed during the pandemic so I didn’t lease that one for long but I actually let them keep it and upgraded to the 2.5 GT AWD, Polymetal grey , Red leather , HUD , pretty much all options, wanted more power so I traded in for a GT AWD Turbo and was very impressed with the added power , the great cornering ability and solid all weather handing in both Turbo & Non Turbo AWD’s. I think the car is beautiful especially in White , the lines are accentuated by some colours more than others. But a friend of mine who owns an M3 jumped in one night and he was blown away with the quality and interior design immediately then once he felt the performance was surprised. Now obviously it’s no M3 but it’s an extremely well designed car, great all year daily driver that with some added Blizzak’s deals with Canadian winters with ease.
I have the same issue with the middle sliding compartment, the piano black pieces are a scratch magnets and I agree seats look stellar but lower back pain for sure after some longer drives. Overall living in Canada with this car and dealing with snow storms this AWD hatch is great.
    Appreciate the video !
Recommend the car especially the price, solid performance & reliability.

Sharing the same sentiments, 3 plus years of ownership on a GT 3 Turbo AWD 2021 in polymetal gray, red interior in Alberta.
Minor issues I do have of the car is the fuel tank size is smaller compared to the other cars of this segment but livable with nevertheless.
Was concerned of the rattling some people spoke of and started to hear some which fortunately was just the front passenger seat railing needing WD-30.
After 37k km, I can say that the transmission really limits the potential of the car for track & more hardcore driving, but spirited driving in rolling hills, it's perfect.
Biggest gripe I have are the brakes, too small & weak for the power/torque of the car. Similar cars like the Volvo C30 Turbo & a Golf GTI has better brake sets than this car OEM stock.
Overall, great car especially for winter driving. I drive daily to the office and it's never a bore. The cold climate I'm in is perfect for the turbo, that AWD and control is splendid, the interior is comfy, and the maintenance cost is unmatched and rivaled by only of the Nissans & Toyotas.. I'm also seeing that the car is holding its value better than the previous generation.
I intend to keep this car for a long time so mods are in the plans - mostly corksport parts to get bigger brakes and give it a better sound. It's a good enough daily family car & will be my little girl's car when she enters college in 4 years, which I'm confident this car will be very much aging well in terms of looks and safety, as well as reliability.
Really an enjoyable car to own, yes it's not purely a hot hatch, but it blends in that lux & sport very well.

Great job in front of the camera. I drive a Mazda 3 AWD with manual transmission and 186 horsepower. For the German/European market the 2.5 Turbo is unfortunately not available. I can confirm that the interior and the haptics of the materials are very premium and comparable with German OEMs like Audi or Mercedes. The manual transmission give kind of sportiness. Best greetings from Frankfurt/ Germany.

I bought my 2019 3 used and it didn't come with the aero kit. I bought the pieces on a mazda supplier sites like mazda swag and just went with whichever was cheapest with shipping. I only did one at a time and installed them myself over about a year. Probably cost $900 between the front, sides, and spoiler (didn't do the rear bumper as I don't want an extra one laying around). Well worth it and improves the looks a lot. The oem rain guards and window tint really help too. Overall love this car but wish I could have gotten the turbo but it wasn't out yet at the time. I've had this car too. So comfortable to drive, decent fuel economy and it's peppy with the turbo. Looks so good. But the trans is a dog and I had issues with the rear differential. The seats are comfortable - I was on a road trip and didn't need to stop for like 3-4 hours. Your complaint must be your seating position. Bose is amazing, better than a 2014 Porsche Panamera I drove. Only reason I sold it was I wanted something more fun and that rear diff noise, but for comfort and style it's a great car.
Edit: DUDE that exact noise @10:24. So annoying. Go to different dealers as the real ones might help fix it. None of mine cared about the noise and pretended not to hear it. So I read once that from factory, the diff fluid wasn't filled enough. I'd start there. Some had it replaced by dealers. A few of them had the rear diff EXPLODE. There is some sort of design flaw with the rear diff for sure. Get that shit checked bro!

2020 AWD non-turbo and 2023 Turbo owner here. Had no real issues with either car aside from a parasitic battery drain which was fixed under warranty. All the piano black was covered with carbon panels, and the gauge cluster was ppf'd before I took delivery of the car. Although mine is pretty modded so the NVH has gone up, annoyingly I get some unrelated creaks around the driver side window seal right by my head. Otherwise, I really love the quality of the car. Interesting to see you didn't have to perform the exhaust valve seal TSB for a 2021.

Love the turbo way more than the n/a. More smiles per hour and the whooshing turbo noises never get old. The fuel economy sucks compared to the non-turbo (I average 12L/100km) but a small price to pay to be in the more enjoyable car. I can't however compare to a FWD/manual but I wouldn't expect my opinion to change.

Great review! I’m on my second car, 4 year lease of a non-turbo,GT 3…..
Absolutely love all things on these cars….
    Just a few points…
IMO, though, the turbo fuel mileage, increased insurance premium, and purchase price are all strikes against…..
eg., can get sub 5.0l/100km on highway drives, with my cylinder deactivation (not on turbo), and insurance $400/yr less than turbo.
I would say, if money is not an issue, and you must have that extra punch, that you can utilize so rarely, then, the turbo would be your car.
Overall handling is likely identical with non turbo.
Either spec, these are amazing small vehicles!

Hey, really enjoyed your three-year review on the Mazda 3 Turbo Hatchback! It resonates deeply with my own journey through Mazda's lineup. I started with the 2020 Mazda 3 non-turbo hatchback, which was impeccably built and ran without a hitch for two years. Wanting a change, I moved to the CX-30 turbo, but unfortunately, it wasn't up to par, mostly due to its manufacturing outside Japan which seemed to impact its reliability. Long story short, I switched back, landing on the 2023 Mazda 3 Turbo Hatchback Premium.
It's been a year and roughly 11,000 miles since, and I must say, for the most part, it’s everything one wants in an affordable yet sporty car. However, it's not without its quirks. For starters, the piano black surfaces are a magnet for scratches. Pro tip: I ordered a protective film from the mikstore for the center console and door pillars. It’s an easy fix and does wonders.
Regarding rattles and noises, it’s been a bit of a saga coming from the infotainment area and the glove box, the dealership remedied it, but they’re still the occasional rattle and creaks. My car too started exhibiting a droning noise pretty early on, at highway speeds and like your experience, it was quite pervasive until I got Mazda USA involved. After a thorough check, it turned out my rear differential fluid was suspiciously low. They replaced it under warranty , which reduced but didn’t completely eliminate the noise. It’s quieter now, but if you really listen for it, it’s there. (it was much louder before)
I also agree on the transmission-it's smooth yet sometimes feels a bit sluggish in adapting to driving habits, especially when compared to the dual-clutch systems in German cars I've driven before. Also, the stock brakes could definitely be more robust to match the turbo power.
And then there's the recent discovery of a small leak in the passenger top right window during high-pressure car washes, a new headache to sort out with the dealership.
Despite these issues, driving the Mazda 3 Turbo Hatchback is still a joy. The handling is top-notch, especially with a few upgrades like better tires, a cork sport intake, and some aftermarket stabilizers. It’s a fantastic vehicle for anyone post-college looking for quality without breaking the bank.
I also noticed you didn’t touch on the rear suspension. Coming from a car with independent suspension, the rear torsion bar in the Mazda feels a bit harsh over bumps and potholes-something Mazda might want to tweak in future models.
All in all, I paid around $31,000 for this gem, and it’s mostly been a pleasure. Here's hoping Mazda takes our feedback to heart. I'd love to see them introduce something like a Mazda 6 wagon with the 3.3L Inline 6 turbo from the CX-90-it’d be a dream!
Keep these thorough reviews coming-they're incredibly helpful for prospective buyers and enthusiasts alike!

Good to know there's somewhat of a fix for the rear differential.
Yes, I had a segment on rear suspension but decided to cut it. They would probably jack the price up even more if it had multilink rear suspension. 🤣

Hi, have you done reset the transmission learning thing?

    • @sammucho9262
      @sammucho9262 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@eidrag no I haven’t really tried to do the transmission reset. I’ve read on a lot of Mazda forums that some people have done them. My issue is I’m at 10,800 miles now and the transmission is starting to feel slightly rougher on certain shifts, sometimes it doesn’t catch the downshift correctly. I drive my car mainly 75% normal which is easy throttle easy breaking easy cornering and speeds that don’t exceed 70 mph. when it comes to the other 25% I tend to drive my car in a more sporty way higher RPMs that 3000-4500 RPMs faster shifting and very rarely a full throttle acceleration. Also more cornering because it is a fun car and speeds of 80mph on highway. Have you tried doing a transmission reset?

Great review! When this Turbo AWD hatch was released in 2021, it was the first "economy car" I thought I'd consider buying after owning more "premium" cars for since the late 1990s - it's fantastic looking inside and out, a nice torquey motor that works great despite the auto transmission, and has AWD that I want for what is primarily a winter and rainy day car. It's simply a really nice car to be in and drive, and offers a mature, sophisticated experience unexpected from a Mazda 3.
One of my closest friends bought a 2022 (in Soul Red) on my recommendation, with the mid-40s price she paid being the top of her budget; but she LOVES her car, and really sees it a great successor to an Audi A3 hatch she used to own.
I decided to replace my 2016 CTS after 8 years of ownership in late 2023, mainly looking at cars one class down (M340i, C43AMG, S4/5) as I no longer needed the space, and didn't want to spend money foolishly. I also seriously considered the Mazda 3 Sport GT Turbo... but the price!!!! In the end, I bought a Genesis G70 3.3T AWD Sport (Sport Prestige in USA).
Once taking into consideration an "all in" cost including 5 years of B2B warranty, lower "no haggle" pricing on another 3 years of B2B extended warranty (so total 8 years), 5 years of included scheduled maintenance including complimentary loaner cars, 5 years of Connected Services (std on the Genesis vs 2 years with the Mazda), and lower "no haggle" pricing on winter wheels & tires the $20k price difference narrowed to less than $10K... but for a much more "premium" car with a beast of a turbo motor and a RWD-based chassis.
If your budget is a hard CAD$50K, I don't think you can buy a better car than the 3 Sport GT Turbo - I prefer it to any of it's direct competitors. But for $10K more in MSRP, the 2024 Genesis G70 2.5T Advanced AWD offers a larger, more refined, more "premium" car at an "all-in" price (if you want a long warranty, connected services, and winter wheels & tires) only a few thousand dollars more.

I'm 1 year in on a gs luxury sedan. the hatch is a beaut, but im such a stickler for rear vision.
No issues with the seats but compared to my dad's old Jetta I do find myself gasing it up a lot more during road trips. the awd version has a slightly smaller (48L) tank.
The transmission is excellent, shifts exactly when I want it to and it always seems to listen.
only minor gripe is that during crawling speed e.g., in a parking lot it jerks a little bit hunting for gears, but that's a minor rare issue.
the interior is very quiet, but there's also a light tapping sound near the back when there are bumps on the road, which just gets louder because of how quiet it is in the cabin.
overall it's pretty sweet. paying too much on the lease (got suckered into the "appearance package"), but I slam it around on occasion and it's a blast.
Would love to keep it around until I can pay for a convertible with cash.

Another note on the center console lid. Because you have to slide it back to open, you can jab the knees of your rear passengers because of how little room there is. And after 3 years, the lid shakes and is coming loose because moving it back makes it less structurally sound.
Another issue I found is the ride. its generally good but on sharp impact, you feel weird vibrations throughout the body, and this is VERY bad on potholes. We've already had two flat tires and there a vibration from something other than the balancing.

I purchased a 2023 Mazda 3 Turbo Premium Plus awd in July of 2023. I have had many problems in my less than 1 year of ownership. That droning noise mentioned in the video was very loud for me and shook my vehicle at 68-74mph. I took it in and they actually replaced my rear differential. The noise was not fixed, however, it was slightly better. I had my subwoofer replaced and my amplifier due to speakers cutting out. I also had my turbo boost solenoid replaced and my water pump replaced due to odd chirping noises coming from under the hood. There are also many rattles all throughout the interior when driving over seemingly smooth pavement.
Overall, this car checks a lot of boxes, is fun to drive, and has a great amount of power/is very smooth. It’s just been very annoying with how many issues I’ve had and how often it’s in the shop. It’s been into the shop 12 plus times this year for unexpected issues. Not sure where I stand on this car, but it’s not been what I expected to say the least.

I have owned my 2021 Mazda3 hatchback turbo for 3 1/2 years now. Love the car. My centre console has a worn rip in it, that is all what is wrong with it so far. One other issue is the motor oil. The car doesn’t go the full term of mileage between oil change. The low oil light comes on at around 5000 kms. and I need to add oil. Usually around 1/2 a litre. Not sure if that is the norm for this vehicle. Certainly frustrating when this car has been like that beginning right from the very first oil change.

The dealership however wouldn’t do anything about it until I got my oil changed with them. So I just did and next time it runs low I have to take it back to them to show. Kinda silly since it’s a known issue with the 2021s.
