Here’s a secret. It’s always been the same. Licorice has always been the primary casing added to Burley, and White Burley in particular. Burley loses almost all sugar in the air curing process so certain casings have always been added to round out the flavor and make it palatable. Cocoa powder is often added as well

It's maybe the same thing with how when the Dunhill labels were changed to Peterson lables, people said they could detect a difference in the Peterson blends. But what it actually was, was that the Peterson tins were just a bit fresher, while all the Dunhill tins had already half a year or more of age on them.
Russ Oulette even confirmed that it are in fact the exact same blends only with a different lable.
And he also said, that some people might be able to taste the lable😂

Just like HH Burley Flake, this one is a different animal than typical American burleys. I like C&D burleys, but those who don’t might want to give this a try.

How would you say it compares to HH Burley Flake I have a tin of that and had a few bowls and really liked it so I had my eyes on this.

Similar in that they’re both smooth blends where so many American burleys have rough edges. If you like the HH I bet you’ll like the Solani.

@@ParsimoniousPiper yeah Cornell and Diehls burley is very raw tasting for example, very cigarette like and not a ton of dynamic but it's amazing what can be coaxed out of burley.

Actually it’s an exact match to Edgeworth and that is a classic American style. Burley pipe tobaccos are as American as apple pie. This came out to fill the gap when Edgeworth left the market. Licorice has always been added to Burley or trust me it would be unsmokeable. I can’t taste any difference. These guys change tin descriptions all the time.

@@matthewgabbard6415 interesting. I read it was similar. I finally got a tin of this ABF and really like it. Very consistent flavor wise and no bitterness. I've tried the Edgeworth RR Sutliff match also which was spotty flavor wise. It's sort of a legend I've never tried but I would smoke ABF all day if it wasn't so pricey and hard to find.

I like mixing the Solani Burley with a good Virginia flake when I smoke.About 50/50 is my lane.

I think all of these blends will continue to become shadows of their former selves… I’m not being pessimistic as much as stating an observation. Consolidation is a real phenomenon that seems pervasive. I’m interested in the differences in this blend now but it was never a favorite of mine. Thanks again fellas 💨💨

Thank you, Matt! I think we can again with your observation.
