You're probably gonna laugh at me but you're probably right. I wanted and really wanted to start smoking bcz all my neighbours around me smoke and they have a great time (including me) after we finish helping them on their field work But yea, they all smoke and they're all like: 'Ugh this feeling of smoking after a good work." So I tried and tried and tried for few years now (basically buying a pack of cigarette every 2nd or 3rd month) and I smoked 'artificially' because I did not like it and everytime I get either numb or I wanna throw up (feeling nausea). I still sometimes ask someone to give a cigarette just to try but I always feel nauseous. That is preventing me from starting smoking. I probably wasted 100 $ just trying to smoke, never enjoying it. I do train and run, so maybe my lungs don't accept tar and nicotine, can't say.

Gon Freecss It must be hard for you to quit when everyone around is smoking but using vapes also introduce you to usinhlg cigar smoking in the long run. It would be a good idea to tell everyone around you that you've experience difficulty breathing as an alibi. If they really care then they wouldn't tell you to do smoking. I am not a doctor btw, however try to lessen the use of artificial smoking. It'll help you quitting and you'll avoid the withdrawal effects of it.

I just read Allen Carr's book and found it inspiring. I'm in my second day of cold turkey and it's not too bad. He's right, I think, about it being mostly in the mind. He says it's the fear factor for most people.

The worst part about quitting for me was the feeling of loss. Like a part a part of my being was gone and i had nothing to replace it with. I feared this feeling would last for ever. I have good news for you trying to quit, the feeling doesn't last forever. A day will come when you go to bed and notice you haven't thought about smoking the whole day and you don't feel empty inside. When this day arrived for me i just laughed abit to my self and thought, "Huh, guess i'm not a smoker anymore".

I'm 56 and have suffered for years with addiction, anxiety and severe ptsd, I got my panic attacks under control myself years ago and they have come back with a vengeance, I'm constantly trying to take full breaths but can't get the full satisfying breath out, it's absolutely crippling me, i live in Germany. Congrats! I'm really happy for you that your wife decided to help you. I always admire those who beat their addiction. Knowing it's possible to fix your life knowing there's people out there that have done what I thought was impossible gives me hope I will make it through as well. Those who share their experiences don't know how much it helps when you're about to give up, it gives you the strength knowing somone who actully know what it's like to go through this tell you it's possible, it's not the same somone telling you you can do it when they have no idea what it's like, but hearing somone who knows what it's like that helps a lot since you understand it firsthand and made it out gives so much hope. so thanks for sharing.

I started smoking when I was 18 and im 26 now. I was a pack a day guy. It's been a month since i quit. I had been trying to quit for a year because the negative effects had begun to take its toll on me.
I resorted to eating a lot of food especially sweets to cope with withdrawal symptoms for the first two weeks. Then it got better but i still get strong urges to smoke occasionally. Smoking's been a big part of my adult life and i guess a cigarette's been there with me through every lows and highs of my life, even more than people.
I just think quiting is so difficult not only due to the physical and chemical addiction but also because you build an emotional bond with it over time.
Im gonna stay mentally strong and remember to take this one day at a time.
Whoever is reading this, My Friend, If you're trying to quit, stay strong and keep your head up because the positives immensely outweigh the negatives.

Haven't been sick and got away from the rest!! :) I'm so glad I quit for good. In this boat. 30 years of multiple packs a day. Sadly I already screwed myself permanently as I have early stage emphysema. Cant do much without being unable to breath. I had childhood asthma which I outgrew, and as a typical teen thought I was invincible and began smoking and the decades just flew by. I didnt realize how bad my lungs were until it was way too late. I was trying to shovel a driveway last winter and I couldnt shovel more than 1 minute without having to sit down, and even sitting it would take 5-10 minutes to catch mybreath. Little by little through the years my stamina would shrink and I just didnt pay attention until it was so bad that it was hard to not notice.
Always told myself I'd quit when I needed to or that I would notice the effect on my body and deal with it but I simply didn't notice until the damage was long done and mostly irreversible. I'll be yet another statistic in roughly 10-15 years.

But in those 10 years I tried to quit at least a hundred times. So just don't blame yourself if you couldn't do it. Don't fall in that pit of self-shaming. We are human, it happens it's absolutely normal.
🙄 I quit for a week then I started again.
🙄 I quit for 2 weeks then started again.
🙄 2 days, then back to smoke!
🙄 I quit for 2 months. Then again smoking.
🙄 I quit even for 8 months!! and then I smoked again!
Just never give up trying. Even if you are 100 years old... Even if nobody believes in you, that you can do it... Only YOU can do it. You are capable to do that. Don't punish yourself, love yourself, compliment yourself. Even if it's just some hours without cigarettes... YOU did it.

I have been smoking non stop since i was 13 years old. Im 23 now. It got to the point where in the past year i suffered severe shortness of breath, thought i would die several times while laying in bed bc i just couldnt catch a breath. Had to feel my heartbeat and thought im done every second. Had another panic attack bc of my breathing 3 days ago. Haven’t smoked in 3 days now. Taking nicotinelle tablets to help stop my desire. I feel so good after only 3 days. My breathing is already better. I will quit completely this time after my last attempt failed. Im proud of myself, i dont wanna live in feat of dying so young anymore. WE can do this guys, love you! ❤

Same thing with me. Its been like one and a half months since I quit smoking and I do get sometimes the same thought of buying a pack of cigs and convincing myself that I dont need it and I am strong enough to finally quit.

After the first few days you are done with the physical needs. Then it's just a stupid habit. The absence of the logistics of being in supply is one of the things I like the most. No checking before the store closes. Nothing before I go somewhere. Just leave. I'm free.

One of the most important things I learned just before I quit smoking (40 years ago), was that aside from all the paradoxical effects of nicotine withdrawal (morning sleepiness, nighttime insomnia, mood swings, etc.), was this: *your cravings will arise about as often as you smoke, and will remain intense for only about 5 to 7 minutes, which is about as long as it takes to smoke a cigarette.*
So here’s the key to getting rid of the habit, once you’ve determined that you are DONE with it and want to stop forever: *As soon as the craving kicks in, get up and do something physical that requires your whole body to do, AND your focus- sweep a garage, shovel a dirt pile from one side of the yard to the other, then back- until the craving stops. As you do this, the cravings will become farther and farther apart, and less and less intense, until you no longer need cigarettes at all.*
You MUST NOT go drinking- stay out of pubs, and out of the cars and homes of people who smoke, for a month.
*Youll know you’ve quit for real when you smell tobacco smoke, and your first thought is “Echhhh... gross.”*

Thats facts. When i ate fatty foods (especially fried meat) or drank cup of hot coffee my craving arises. So about 10-15 minutes its getting peaking. After 15 minutes i think i dont need to smoke rn. This circle keep going like that. Almost every time im smoking after a good fatty meals i eat. I think after eating fatty hot meals makes nic addiction kicking off

    • @jamestree6697
      @jamestree6697 6 ปีที่แล้ว +131

no srsly don't search for a subtitue. do the opposite. I always took smoking a cig as sort of an a reward.. but what for? I stopped treating myself for having worked 1 hour or bravely waited for the bus for 5 minutes. I instead chewed a gum (I hate gum) and did the opposite of treating me. it's this circle. it helpes at firs but when you're really shortly b4 smoking 1.. than treat yourself. for NOT doing it. the first 2 weeks are the hardest, so you're halfway there. after that, it's ez not to. I even got drunk with my still-smoking friends and still did not want to smoke. yes. it's been harder to resist as usual, but it's still way easier to resist, than to be weak. but remember!! NEVER be weak. quitting smoking mean NEVER AGAIN.
That all sounds a lot like a help-urself-book, but I really made up my mind about this. maybe stay away from occasions, where you'll eventually get temped, for 1 or 2 weeks and after that, you're pretty much done :)
And! I gotta say, even thou I gained a lil weight (smoking stops your feel of hunger), I feel much more fit and relaxed.
You can do it and I'm very proud of you guys.
      And don't stop masturbating.

Day 12 of quitting tobacco smoke as I decided to go over to vaping instead with steadily decreasing the nicotine each refill. I'm down to a 8% per 30ml which is similar to about 10 cigarettes of nicotine per week. I would say this is one of the easiest ways to quit tobacco smoke forever as well as quit nicotine replacement altogether.
