    Completely awesome tutorial, Scott. Thanks for showing me all the wrong ways to do this. I think I've tried most of them, but wasn't sure why they weren't working. Great analytical video and the way you think of the various moves joining together is really great. Top notch explanation, instant sub.

    can you make gumbi tutorial. man. I love your methods!!

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll definitely put it on the list! I feel I don't do gumbis often enough these days to make a great tutorial, but it would be a good one to revisit :)

    • @sprazer
      @sprazer 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ScottMcDonaldAcrobat it took me 7 months to get gumbi : (
      I just got it like a month and still practicing it. Everytime I do the gumbi , it feels so weird. I can't actually spot and it's still a hit and miss. I wanna be able to do it comfortably like a cartwheel. Maybe you can give me a new perspective on the gumbis!!

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sprazer one way of trying it that won't help much for swinging out of it but will help with the chest position and feeling of sweeping your legs behind and over you would be to simply try a cartwheel with as deep of an arch as you can, almost trying to bridge and brush your feet on the floor. I initially learned mine like that and then adapted it to a swing through axis.

    • @sprazer
      @sprazer 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScottMcDonaldAcrobat Can you please make a video!!!! Gumbi is one of the most complicated moves if I am not wrong!!?

  • @samruddhimirgane9586
    @samruddhimirgane9586 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a decent cartweel and an front walkover but I'm terribly failing at the sweeping thing..my leg just refuses to over-rotate. I guess it some sort of block

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps your hips are more on top of your shoulders than in front of them when you try sweeping, that could make it tricky to over-rotate. Hard to know exactly what's going on without seeing it, though.

    iv seen ppl show reversao's lifting and landing on the right leg first its much easier than your reversao. i guess theres different ways to do it, or what?

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure what you mean. Mine lifts the left first and lands on it because of the direction I'm going; if you lifted the right first and landed on it while going the other direction that would make sense but not so much if you're going towards the left.
      A reversao is a meia lua de compass that turns into a front walkover, so the kicking leg and landing leg are a pretty set thing unless you're doing a variation.
      Got a video of what you're talking about? I'm curious to see.

    • @timtaylor9590
      @timtaylor9590 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @timtaylor9590
      @timtaylor9590 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ScottMcDonaldAcrobat basically its much easier to come up when you have the same side leg and arm on the ground. the exit of the helicoptero is staggered arm and leg.

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@timtaylor9590 Ahh. that is typically called a tinsica; it's a normal cartwheel that ends as a front walkover. Completely different trick. I've never heard anyone else call that reversão but hey, there are very inconsistent naming conventions throughout the capoeira world. Within tricking and most capoeira groups, though, a reversão would be the one I described.
