5 Trampoline Cruise Variations inspired by Action Sports!

Hey everyone! The title says it all- I used to coach and train at Woodward and would often see really cool grabs and poses that were absent from gymnasts or trampolining, but I always loved trying them! My terminology might be a bit off, so if you know the names of some of these poses better than I do, please let me know! I would greatly appreciate the education 🙃 As always, the music is Anmon-...

      There shouldn't be any back pain, so unless you have a pre-existing injury that's being aggravated then it's a technique thing. Check out this section of my stomach drop tutorial, hopefully it's one of these issues! th-cam.com/video/UyoejqoY9qg/w-d-xo.html

      Ayy thank you! I'm not sure, tbh. I'll try the next time I'm warmed up at the gym! I don't actively train press handstands these days, but I've been doing quite a bit of planche work and pike compression from forearm manna, so... hopefully 🤓👊🏻

    Great breakdown and ideas, thanks. I just asked you on another video comment section for a tutorial on falling into a bridge but see that you have already covered that pretty well here at around 40 seconds. Whilst what you demonstrate there is probably just rigt for me at the moment if you have any ideas for moving towards symmetry I would be glad.

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks for the comments, David! For falling into bridges, I would recommend standing in front of a wall, reaching back for it, and walking your hands downward towards a bridge on the floor gradually and slowly. Do this frequently, as well as trying to stand up out of a bridge forwards slowly, to build control and muscular engagement. I hope that helps!

    • @davidfreel1451

      @@ScottMcDonaldAcrobat Thanks Scott, I've played around with all of that and can get to the floor and back with control but the word 'frequently' ....rings a bell. Any ground work you cover will be really appreciated, so many dilattentes chosen for their incompetence and credulity really clutter this place with shallow inducements to buy rubber bands and be clumsy, it's great to hear considered advice from an artist :) Oh, I'm a musician, I recorded a little playing meditation/improvisation on my channel it's the last thing I uploaded , you might like moving to it, you can warm up and warm down with me. It takes less than three minutes. The single bar of music that is the seed I wrote in hospital recovering from the seizure that nearly destroyed my mental health. It worked, patience always does.

    I watched this for inspiration, you can be relied on for that ! I do have a request, I am a fifty year old adult man, I can do QDR rotational move but have always been terrified of falling into a bridge. If you have any ideas on a routine to give me confidence in falling into a bridge I'd be terribly glad as I want to learn a front and back walkover, never did them as a child and don't know anyone I'd trust to show me the pathway and support me without being clumsy (I'm 6ft tall). At gymnastics centres there is no active support for adults, just the pretense that equipment is safe and none of it is right sized for me.

      To my great surprise, I find this WAY easier than a normal one. Also less sketchy, as falling backwards out of a normal one (which I have my fingers pointed backwards for) forces my wrists into a really painful acute angle, whereas falling here just… falls a few inches with no wrist torture, haha

    Could you do a stomach turntable tutorial? Can’t figure out the proper timing and stop at 270..

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat 14 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@alexandersatdarov3872 certainly! If you send me a video on Instagram I could probably diagnose what’s going on, hut if you’re getting stuck at 270 it could just be a matter of opening early- getting the full rotation usually requires holding on longer than feels natural at first. Alternatively, you might be keeping your hands in a regular stomach drop position instead of loading them asymmetrically so you can pull extra hard into the rotation, not tucking as tightly as possible, or kicking the bed with your feet. I hope that helps in the meantime!

    Could you possibly do a tutorial on a cody if you havent already i tried one the other day and i didnt get enough rotation and almost broke my jaw with my knee lol i just cant get enough rotation with it

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Absolutely! In the meantime, a couple things that might help- the first drill I show in this tutorial, where you go from stomach to back, is the same snap initiation as you would use for a cody. If you can get that takeoff to feel consistent, it'll make life much safer. The second thing I would recommend is learning to drive a cruise all the way over to your back. Going to your stomach is a great start, but if you can flip it even further you'll learn how it feels to put the rotation in that you would need to do a cody to your stomach or feet. Lastly, if you weren't trying it from a back 3/4 (backflip to stomach), I would highly recommend starting there. It'll give you much more power than starting from a front drop, just like a roundoff backflip is much physically easier than a standing one.

    How do i add spinns to my flips? i accidentally did my first front half somewhat right, but since then every attempt landet on my head (in a foam pit). I can somewhat easily do a double front into foam, and on a good day a double back into foam

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat
      @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Twisting is mostly a matter of turning your hip, shoulder, and head at the same rate in the same direction at the same time, made much easier and more efficient by keeping your abs and butt engaged (what gymnasts etc refer to as "staying tight") so your entire body moves as one unit rather than in a disjointed way. For a front half, you can break it down in a pretty simple way- do a front tuck, kick out, and in the moment right before landing, close your hip and shoulder so you turn 45 degrees in the direction you want to twist. When that gets comfortable, add another 45 degrees so you're landing facing sideways, then another 45 to take you into an almost-half-twist, and finally another 45 degrees to take you all the way to a front half. From there, you can begin twisting slightly earlier and in a more open position so you can watch the trampoline, but that's how I would typically teach it. As for back twisting, cruises are a wonderful way to drill for the timing and general feeling of it. More to come on the subject, but it's hard to condense it into a TH-cam comment, haha. Hope this helps!

  • @roberthughes1700

    • @ScottMcDonaldAcrobat

      And so different in difficulty level, at least for me- the 540 cat always feels like it has to feel "wrong" to get the right amount of rotation, if that makes sense, whereas the Rudi ballout is just a full porpoise then I stare at the tramp and do nothing 😂🤷🏻‍♂
