    Thank you! I was about to start pricing replacement glass for my 2001 Silverado. You saved me a good amount of cash! Thanks again.

    You can basically do this for pretty deep scratches with down to 180 grit paper, then 500, so on and so forth til you get to 3000 and then polish with some ceric dioxide mixed 1:1 with water in a spray bottle. If using a die grinder or polisher monitor the temp with a laser thermometer to make sure not to overheat the window with hot spots causing it to crack. Definitely wear respiratory/eye protection if doing all that.
    I have successfully polished windows with compound made for paint but that was to get water spots off, I'd imagine it would be a good follow up for all this.

    I'm going to try it but with water. Wetsanding does a whole lot less damage. At least for me and many others it does. I've already changed the 30 year old dew wipes and looks so shitty (the window). Especially after just painting it satin black! Looking for an easy cheap or free way of doing it. I'll get back and let you know how it turns out for me. Thanks.

      actually sense wet sanding washes away the chips produced by the sand paper it actually cuts faster

    Good tip!
    Any tips for inside the window?
    Lysol was sprayed over a period of time to disinfect during covid,and it has stained the insides i think,but it could also be what you say,in winding the windows up,and down.

      why not just go to a lower grit of sandpaper if spending 10 to 15 minutes is to much time: for you then you can you can do 2 and half minutes with the lower grit and another 2 and half with what your using now as a buffer of sorts

  • @anotherdejavu
    @anotherdejavu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    Thank you. But how do I clean the grit out to prevent it in the first place?

      If you have access to a air compressor, use a blow gun to blow all the dust out

    • @antonioprovidence52
      @antonioprovidence52 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Or get a towel and put your windows all the way down and run the towel between the felt a few times

    • @HAL-dm1eh
      @HAL-dm1eh ปีที่แล้ว

      I have very successfully taken an object like a painter's 5 in 1 and carefully run it between the seal and glass to dislodge and get rid of the dirt trapped in there. I'd think the same can be accomplished with stuff like a bondo applicator, credit card, stuff along those lines.
      If it's old rubber I'd be very gentle to prevent any cracking and if it cracks that easily it needs to be replaced anyway, really. 👍

      I would be careful and use a very high grit. 2,500+ and be careful with the tempered glass. It shouldn’t shatter any more than the side glass, but you never know
