Hello, I've just found this song in recommend while listening to Metallica. This is my first song of Dream Theater and first listening to it. I quite liked it, so i think I'm gonna stay here for some time. Maybe I'll join in their fanbase. Greetings from Poland!
HOLLOWOXDT1 I wouldn't call it underrated. It has "in the presence of enemies" and "dark eternal night". I can argue that it is not Scenes from a Memory but it is an awsome album
kaliakoudis believe me SC in particular gets a lot of slam . i truly think that DT went downhill after BCSL ( personnaly i didn't like that album though it contains TCOT ) . SC is not their best but for me it was a great one and aged pretty well .
HOLLOWOXDT1 DT doesn't have any albums that are truly horrible. The worst album by far is octavarium, but even it has its moments. Honestly i think if they redid their first album with modern recording equipment people would find that it's a pretty good album even. Afterlife, YTSE Jam, Only a Matter of Time, Fortune in Lies, all are great songs with improved production values.
What a masterpiece...DT was very much alive back in 2007. Remember listening to this back when it came out and thinking that all those people who claim that DT is irrelevant after Awake are just fools.
This song is so beatiful. Dream Theater is amazing. I just recently got into them(maybe a week ago or less).I picked up all there albums. I love them ALL. They are not only masters at the instruments they play, but have mastered the art of composing there own brilliant progressive music. This is the most consistent band I've ever seen also. With songs in each album that just blow my mind :) Can't wait for there 2009 album!!!
I got this album recently and, I'll tell you what, it's hella good. I've never had songs give me such a sense of power before but this chorus makes me feel indestructible! Damn fine track.
In The Presene Of Enemies (Pt 1) I Prelude (Instrumental) II Resurrection ♫ I saw a white light, shining there before me And walking to it, I waited for the end A final vision, promising salvation A resurrection, for a fallen men Do you still wait for your God And the symbol of your faith? I can free you from this hell and misery You should never be ashamed my son I can give you power beyond anything Trust me you will be the chosen one I was forgotten, a body scorned and broken My soul rejected, tainted by his blood Beyond redemption, a sinner not worth saving Forever taken, from the one I loved Do I still wait for my God An the symbol of my faith? I can lead you down the path and back to life All I ask is that you worship me I can help you seek revenge and save yourself Give you life for all eternity Servants of the fallen, fight to pave the way For their savior's calling, of this wricked day Through the veil of madness, one of vicious blade One man rises up, standing in the way (Redemption) Redemption (For Humanity) Redemption for humanity
I know. 6 Degrees is another gem. There was a primitive energy with Portnoy. I am not gonna get into any comparisons and "this one is better than that one", but there is an element missing that will never return.
This is the first time I've actually sat and listened to a Dream Theater piece. Made me think of a mix of Kansas and E.L.P. with maybe a little Uriah Heep thrown in. Pretty good, I'm going to have to check out some more of their stuff.
Tarik Riadi Listen to their new album Distance over time it’s mind blowing.I recommend these tracks: At wits end SN2 Untethered angel Bastrol warrior Pale blue dot Amazing tracks all of them.
I love this part so much. I wish they made a song sounding like this. Jordan's keyboard playing sounds something out SNES in the 90s. Final Fantasy games... so good!
I: Prelude [Instrumental] II: Resurrection [Verse 1] I saw a white light shining there before me And walking to it, I waited for the end A final vision promising salvation A resurrection for a fallen man [Pre-Chorus] Do you still wait for your God And the symbol of your faith? [Chorus] I can free you from this Hell and misery You should never be ashamed, my son I can give you power beyond anything Trust me you will be the chosen one [Verse 2] I was forgotten, a body scorned and broken My soul rejected, tainted by his blood Beyond redemption, a sinner not worth saving Forever taken from the one I loved [Pre-Chorus] Do I still wait for my God And a symbol of my faith? [Chorus] I can lead you down the path and back to life All I ask is that you worship me I can help you seek revenge and save yourself Give you life for all eternity [Bridge] Servants of the fallen fight to pave the way For their savior's calling on this wicked day Through a veil of madness, with a vicious blade One man rises up, standing in their way
+Ignacio C If you are talking about the crescendo, that's not that mind blowing. Chad Smith did the same in the beginning of Can't Stop with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and it was 4 years before that song.
Late reply, but its because he's doing notes on the snare, something completely different on the triangle somehow managing to choke it, with Hi Hats And Bass drum all while still keeping time, it's amazing
Although there is no such thing like a bad DT-Album, I have to say, that this is one of their worse. Images&words was good, Train of thought was epic, Awake was great, so was Octavarium, the new ones are OK, but I personally dont like Systematic chaos.
I think it goes in basicly everything :P, the intro/vers riff is 6/4 and 7/4 I think, the very first intro-thingie is 5/8 and 7/8. 9/8 10/8 11/8 12/8... Yeah, basicly everything :P
Ditunggu hasilnya,, terutama drumernya, koq bisa yak influence nya ini.. tapi koq setiaap coveeer koq gak greget kyak maestro??? Aaaaah sok tau gw nih,, kuping gw aja standar.. hahahaha

@@davegrohl2b I've already found this one ;) it's great
That Solo Section is the most soulful stuff petrucci ever created . Systematic Chaos is definetly an underated Album .

I agree. It's my second favorite album by them. Only being beaten by Octavarium.
Yes, I just pretend forsaken is not on there.
the pinch harmonic in the first solo is why I love petrucci. in one note he can add a lot of variations. a true magician
one of their best intros, in my opinion.
John Myung is a master of bass!
GnR4life and the sky is blue...
What a masterpiece...DT was very much alive back in 2007. Remember listening to this back when it came out and thinking that all those people who claim that DT is irrelevant after Awake are just fools.
This song is basically the one that made me a huge fan of Dream theater!
Love your name ;)
Although I got into DT listening to LATM & I&W these two songs are some of my favourites ever. Incredible!
Agreed, this song and the title track from Octavarium both blew me away. :)
Same here, this is amazing
This was the first song I ever heard my cousin recommended it to me and I was blown away
This song is just pure pure pure masterclass!!!!

distance over time amazing album
One of DT's best songs, and best intros. Pure class

One of DT's more underrated tunes. Great way to intro an album. Has a slight SyX vibe.

There are two things we will never see again from DT. An album like Scenes and a song like this. Sad but true.
I know. 6 Degrees is another gem. There was a primitive energy with Portnoy. I am not gonna get into any comparisons and "this one is better than that one", but there is an element missing that will never return.
3:36 = one of the best moments in musical history. I only wish they would have kept that idea, for lack of a better word, going on for a while longer.
Joe Blow i think they have another song with that theme all the song but i just can t remeber what song is, that sounds familiar to me
andre viana probably Never Enough (Octavarium)
Raymors it sounds almost like it but it's not that one, but thanks for the attention :)
andre viana prophets of war maybe?
no, it can t and it isn t but still thanks, maybe i m just messing up
The best intro song.Amazing as ever
i love the transition from 2:00 to 2:10! holy shit great music!

you cannot sleep with enemies nearby!
You can't sleep. There are monsters nearby.
4:23 begins one of the best moments in dream theater's discography
Lyrics of this song (Part I. & II.) appear in the Manhwa "Priest", and it is pretty awesome.
"alright, let's cover this song"
*First 23 seconds already too hard*
you need to be at least a level 67 mage to obtain such a skill
Petrucci says "Slow down"
Dude, the intro up to the end of the slow part, except the crazy fast part is easy. Don't be discouraged, a beginner can learn it.
Wonderful Wonderful Wonderful song by a wonderful band!!!!
2:15 the notes hit there are some of my favourite moments in music EVER. so sweet and beautiful. magnificent. JP never fails to impress
this was 15 years ago, damn i remember ordering this cd when i was deployed.
Ke sini karna behind the scene take vocal cover nya sanca record.... Goksss
3:35 is just epic. The good times when Dream Theater was epic, awesome, mind blowing, etc.!

I love the lyrics and the drums. They sound wicked but still excellent played.
Epic song, epic album, epic band
Obrigado por existir Dream Theater
4:51 to 5:04. Heavy metallic objets compressing the earth. When you feel the weight of music. Lol
The endurance of the bass player is ridiculous.
Stephen Hill it is indeed, but this song doesn't show this lmao
I just found out they're going to play this song on their next tour, can't wait to go see them
1:42 Zelda a link to the past >>> boss song
That part is a tip of the hat to the rock group Yes.
114 enemies didn't like the song
How is there people disliking this song? It's awesome
+Andrew Stephen One of the great mysteries of the universe.
The vocals.
they are the enemies of course
Most likely evangelicals
In the presence of 52 enemies?
This is the best opening for them when they play live ❤️ its so cool and epic 😏
Totally Rush this is it. Amazing intro.
Portnoy at 4:33 blows my mind
+Ignacio C why?
The crescendo? Is it because of how fitting it is with the music? Or the fill at the end?
+Ignacio C If you are talking about the crescendo, that's not that mind blowing. Chad Smith did the same in the beginning of Can't Stop with the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and it was 4 years before that song.
hahaha as a drummer i can say same thing

probably my favourite DT song
2:15....reminds me of walking down a street at night and looking up at that lightpost thats on the album cover. Everytime I hear it. so magical
the very first album i've heard of this band, its in 2012, and still the better from me
4:12 - 5:12 is the best minute of the song imo
Amazing time structure.
Awesome song! Dream Theater IS the best!

It's SO good. And when that second guitar comes in, and the bass, and drums...oh man
an ORGASMIC piece by dream theater!!
... now to clean my mess up.
Bought this album on release day, when Best Buy still had a pretty deep CD section.
1st time hearing this, ohhh and no way is it the last, matter of fact I added 3 plays in one sitting 😊💙
Damn,that was tight.
Just Awesome
Awake is the best DT album. This is top 5 though.
Although there is no such thing like a bad DT-Album, I have to say, that this is one of their worse. Images&words was good, Train of thought was epic, Awake was great, so was Octavarium, the new ones are OK, but I personally dont like Systematic chaos.

You shouldn't listen to Prog Rock if you thought Train of Thought was their worst.
Antonio Archuleta Best I mean.
+7d7e7f7 Awake is my favorite as well :), great Album!
See 2009 - Present for bad albums.

I'm a huge fan of DT but this music somehow reminds me of the Witcher TV series
Has this been used as an intro to aseries? I belve I have listened to it before.
Listen to this song on Psychedelics . The first 2 minutes is just phenomenal and you WILL get lost in it.
In The Presence of Enemies is DT's 2112.
