    Marcus drives from Bordeaux, France to Lisbon, Portugal in the cheapest Tesla Model 3. Can he drive 1200 KM in one day? Will he switch back to a petrol car?

    Thanks Marcus, I enjoyed the trip. What a gorgeous day you picked in December.👍
    If I'd have known just how many tolls you had to pay I'd have started counting how much it cost! Seems like it could have mounted up to almost as much as the charging! I know it would be the same for a fossil vehicle but for this Brit who cant travel abroad it seems a heck of a lot to add to your journey expenses.
    Thanks for taking us along.👍🙏

      Thank you Jude. Yes, tolls in France and Portugal are very expensive.

    Fantastic trip! Couple of months ago I drove Rotterdam to Berlin on my Model 3 LR. About 800km, and was extremely tired after that. 1200km if incredible mate!

      It is quite easy across Spain and Portugal as there is not much traffic 🤣👍. The car was mainly in autopilot and I was listening to a good audible book.

    Thanks marcus. don't know if you can answer this question, but can you bring an american EV car to portugal and use their charging grid or would the difference in voltage make it not compatible. thanks so much great page

      I don't know but I guess one of the problems may be the charging plugs as they are different. I think adapters may be available.

    How much was the cost of this trip in road tolls?

    • @marcusevjourney566
      @marcusevjourney566  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think I captured almost all the tolls in the video. Watch the video and do the maths 😂👍 I have no idea how much I spent in tolls, except it would have been the same in an EV or petrol car.

    Do the tesla chargers also work on non tesla cars?

    • @marcusevjourney566
      @marcusevjourney566  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They don't work on non-Tesla cars in Portugal. I think non-Tesla cars work on some of the Tesla chargers in Spain and France but it is necessary to check the Tesla app to see which ones work.

      @@marcusevjourney566 would be nice if they did, at least the ones near the highway.

    Id3 with 77kW can do the trip with the same time?

    • @marcusevjourney566

      I made a few mistakes on the trip, for example a 6 min diversion to the Guarda Supercharger, not starting at 100% and not arriving at chargers with 10% or less. On long trips a bigger battery does not make you go faster, unless the charging speed is quicker. The Model 3 is more efficient than the ID.3 and apparently in the new ID.3 the charging speeds are the same 170kW. I think the Model 3 would be quicker, but the difference would be small. Efficiency on long trips is King.

      @@marcusevjourney566comfort and quietness is king. You would stop for decent sized breaks anyway which can be used for charging. That’s where a Tesla fails. Hard suspension and relatively noisy.

      @@Orange_ManbabyI know that the first Model 3 was noisy, but this newer is not, it has double glazing at the front. The newer highlands even have double glazing at the back 😊. I find this car extremely comfortable, more so than my ID.3 which did have a firmer more sporty suspension. On this whole trip, I had no back pains and felt fresh.

    Thank you for sharing this with us. Wonderful that the only thing that can be heard is the wind and the tires against the road, and then I heard the driver too, 👍
    I was impressed by how nice the French roads were. Are all roads so nice or does it only apply to the toll roads?

      Thank you Jorgeni. French motorways are very good but expensive 😂. I have a new camera that I am testing and hopefully you will only hear my voice, perhaps that is a bad thing 😂👍
