    Hello there.. thanks for the effort you have put in to make this video so informative and Ellaborate the finess in detail of each model explained here.. iam looking at a battery operated equipment to cut about 20mm thick of grass that I shall use to feed my cattle.. I come from India and the only option of battery operated hedge trimmer I have here in India is HSA 50.. could you pls suggest if this model is suitable for cutting grass to feed the cattle.. the cuts should be fine because the the grass shoots from the buds that are cut and regrows itself, but the cut has to be clean only then the grass would re grow.. or else the grads would die away.. awaiting your expert advice.. thank u so much in advance..

    I bought my first bit of battery equipment last year, it was the Milwaukee M12 hatchet. It has been a fantastic! This year, I bought a Milwaukee M18 brushcutter, it works great, but run time is poor. The 8 Ah batteries that came with it, only last about 20 mins each. Will probably have to get a couple 12 Ah , but they ain't cheap!

    Me and Mike much prefer using the battery equipment. Same here mate with the casing. Had to wrap insulation tape round mine. I've ordered a new cover. Yes, crap gets in so we clean out regularly. On the whole the battery equipment is much cheaper to run and better on the body. No tool is perfect. I definitely recommend having both to choose from. I’m stuck in a work contract until spring/summer 2024 so I’m enjoying buying tools now and building knowledge as and when I can until I can start gardening/pressure washing/gutter cleaning full time. • @Ziggie2u
    @Ziggie2u ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Have you considered buying the Stihl HLA 135 hedge trimmer? More money at £460 but it has a metal cover for over the gears and there’s no chance for debris to get into the motor casing as it’s built differently.
    I also hate the ergonomics of the on/off switch .

    I've just removed a broken Bowden cable from the head adjuster on my HLA 65 and ordered a new one. The hedgecutter motor won't work without it installed now. I didn't damage the wires. Do you think it's a safety thing and needs the new cable and pin to work?

    • @corac4
      @corac4 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LewisgardenservicesLtd It was the micro switch. I mangled it when I took the old Bowden cable out. I completely loosened the hinge for the cutting head to take the cover off. There is a space in the hinge metal to allow that metal switch lever to spring out and turn the electrics off when the machine is folded. It got caught when I tightened up the hinge because the hedgecutter was in the operating position. Amateur 😁. I watched your 'how to fix' video beforehand. Thanks for the help, it's much appreciated. Love this machine, though I would pay a bit more for a heavier duty version, they class this as professional, I'd say it was semi professional. But I still say that it's one of the best things that Stihl has made.

    Good to get an objective review, yeah I've gone through two so far. First one my fault as forgot to grease it for awhile (doh!) lasted 2 yrs. 2nd one 20months old was overheating on a large macrocarpa conifer hedge and then just as I stopped for the day, and walking back I saw one missed piece then hit something hard and it stopped with 3 flashing lights(trimmer prob) so I may have buggered the motor? Motor not quite strong enough for the robust stuff over time imo. Going to the shop today. yeah that housing is rubbish. the plastic is crap plastic and goes brittle and then the bolts go through. Also at the bottom of the blades is a hole that opens and closes outside the housing when the trimmer is going which helps shuttles debri straight into the trimmer which isn't ideal.

    Genuine Question - Batteries are all well and good but how do you "expense" the electricity used to charge them ? Do you put in an allowance in your tax return ?

I've also got a combi thing going on which has a long reach hedge cutter attachment. Which, as you say. Is good for shaping rather than reduction. I've also got the power brush attachment. Which is great. But a tad heavy. I'd like to get a mower. But I just don't think battery is there yet for commercial mowing. Plus. nice honest review it seems they only have one pole trimmer in the stihl range that run at 4000 cuts p minute the most expensive one im looking at makita but concerned how much more gap they have in the teeth compared to stihl i think makita are a bit more domestic but price is cheaper and 4000 cuts p minute also lighter and they have a normal hedge cutter with catcher

    brought the 66 a few months back now and its been used and abused would recomend these to anyone we have been battery powered for many years now with one husqvarna lc353ivx (would not recomend) We run a simple ryobi OLT1832 strimmer that has been bullet proof and a smaller mower swiftgarden 37cm 120v that has finally bit the dust(only due to the fact the customer care is rubbish and you cant get parts) after over 5yrs of upwards of 10 lawns a week and we used for long heavy cutbacks that the husqvarna couldnt handle. oh and a cheap little 18v einhell hedge trimmer great little but of kit. now looking for a self propelled 37cm to 42cm battery mower to replace the 120v but not impressed with whats about

      Hi mate went for the Stihl 443vc in the end not recieved it yet but as we had the batteries and chargers for the HLA 66 thought maybe worth a try not to sure about the 36v and it being enough for tough long wet grass but will have to see, did go to a local garden machinery place but they olny seemed interested in pushing the 18v milwaukee they had just got in and had a load of the gear on display maybe im wrong but as I had concerns with the 36v I couldnt get my head round a 18v system being powerfull enough, Battery stuff is still so new in the UK its hard to find it and be able to try it out@@LewisgardenservicesLtd
