@@LewisgardenservicesLtd Thanks! I find it less worrisome than using an angle grinder for my general sharpening needs. I’m sure you’ve seen them, they are marketed as lawnmower blade sharpeners but they work for all sorts of tools, I’ve even used them on spades.
Thoroughly agree with all five. I started using a 3.4m tripod ladder in 2020, cost me £530 but was able to do an £800 hedge that I’d backed away from quoting for before. Proper game changer. Add in all my battery gear (still kept the petrol stuff 😉), not looked back. Great video as always.
100% got them all, saves time makes the job so much easier. Just picked up a job, customer fell off a small step ladder with 240V hedge cutter and damaged his knee 😢😢😢 👍👍
Brilliant - the theme seems to be buy quality. The higher the £ doesn’t mean the better, but if you find the right £ with reliable feedback, it’s a cert. Got my Darlac grabbers about a year ago... They really do make life so much easier! can't believe it took me so long.. I agree with everything else in the video, especially the battery equipment.. I'm still fairly new to it but it's the way forward. I still need to invest in a tripod ladder... They look great 👍🏼
Tripod ladders mate are a proper game changer, get the fully adjustable ones. Grabbers are great, think I'll try the Tudor environment ones next time. Life's easier with battery gear too👍 cheers

I've got a good pair of Kebtek kt-940 and they are awesome. Watch out buying the pole because they may not be compatible if you have the same ones as me. I only bought mine before Christmas but apparently they need a new pcb board because the first batch aren't compatible - still waiting for my pole + will probably have to fit a new pcb board

Top list Nathan 👌 I wish i started with a high roof van and didn't bother with a small one plus trailers are a hastle. Spot on about the lightweight battery gear to save your body + saves money on fuel and all around nicer to use. Battery secateurs/loppers are a game changer and really powerful + save time but just watch those fingers when you get tired + use a holster. Keep up the good videos mate 👍

Leaf grabbers are an absolute game changer, I got the spear and jackson ones... I also bought the 10ft henchman pro ladders last year after saltex, best move ever! 2 things id have to add to the list is the oregon mulching blade and the wolf garten gear, absolutely brilliant tools every one should have in the back of the van 🔥

Would make a very similar list - maybe in a different order...but don't like the darlac grabbers, I prefer the tudor environmental style - and they basically never leave the back of the van, use them every day. Any one out there shopping for arborist ladders just don't piss about spend the money on 3 adjustable legs, they are a total game changer - don't knock a 6 foot set either amazing how quick and easy they are to move. A little Forest Master chipper shredder might have made position six on my list and is a great complement to the 161 saw.

Wolf Garten, pole-saw/loppers/hoe. The aforementioned saw/loppers go through large diameter branches with ease... And the hoe is good.. 3m & 4m pole. Felco secatuers have the wire cutting notch, which is very handy... Tobisho SR1 is good as well. Mattock and a drainage spade "muller" tree-roots and hard soil. Kombi system. Tripod ladder. Also, antivibration gloves are a must for me now.... Unfortunately, mine are now £50 a pair!
Completely agree on everything. Only one I would raise you would be the HLA 66……. Try the HLA 86. Seems to cut much better than the 66, plus you have the telescopic reach. Other than that, you’re bang on the money 👍👍👍👍👍
Me and my gardener colleagues still call them granny grabs, but we all use them 😂, totally agree with your no.1 battery is a game changer, personally i would never go back to 2 stroke through choice. Great video mate 👍

TBH all of them, i wish i had bought everything sooner and bought the best quality out there straight away. only regrets I've had is inferior kit breaking or not working as it should. Maybe the bit of kit i wish i had bought sooner was a book/course on how to run a gardening business so i could have charged right and bought the kit i needed Hope you have a good week mate.
Bacho loppers have lasted me years well worth spending more , and the tripod steps ladders have been a game changer for stability and safety, my leaf grabbed are old squeezey mop type I ve had them years too , not made any more , they are tapped together with gorilla tape now , I refuse to let them go 😮
Gator grabbers are really good, strong and long, just a tad heavy. Pol saw, I have both powered and manual, defo a must, liddle or aldi loppers, last about a year or so, but as I use them for rough work, Ie removal not pruning, they are ideal, cheap and cheerful, tripod ladders, are a real game changer, you will never know how much until you get a set. battery gear is ok if you get the right bit of kit. (May be going back to stihl)
Very useful. Used petrol gear is cheap so young ones get them. Batteries are dear. I use all battery as i only do smallish gardens and use my estate car. So no petrol smell.

I’ve got all of them, what a relief I don’t have to go out and buy anything! I’d definitely add that mattock to the list though, that’s an awesome tool; it’s a spade, an axe and a pretty good rake in a pinch all in one. One you didn’t mention but a favourite of mine is the Japanese sickle hoe (careful how you google that!) it’s become my go to for weeding.
Agree with all of those. I don't really do much working at height. So not so much the ladders for me personally. But I've got those Darlec leaf grabbers. ( or big hands on sticks as I call them ) as well as my fair share of battery kit. (EGO) Loppers are generally aldi or lidl specials.. I know there shit when I buy them. But I'm cheap. So I make do.
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd Really like the EGO kit tbh. I've just bought the lawn edger to go on the end of the power head. I've got a fair bit of there kit now. Except a mower. I just don't think battery power is quite there yet for mowers. In terms of run time and cost effectiveness over petrol.

Only time i get pruners out is to cut me strimmer wire. Well thats not entirely true but they get more use for that than owt else. Nice tripod steps mate , Yh 10ft sounds ample. Been looking into those meself.

The only thing I need to do now is get my customers in. I’m advertising on social media, but haven’t heard anything yet, so I was wondering if you could give any advice on how to do that. Most importantly congratulations on taking the leap and starting out, good luck💪🤞 Jan/ Feb always seem to be dead months especially when the weather is bad unless you have ongoing contracts or a large customer base where you know there are jobs to do. I've never had much luck with Facebook although a lot say they do. Keep active tho on the social media sites. I've also found random flier drops a waste of time but for immediate work target properties that look like they need a tidy up for spring, if confident in doing so try knocking an politely introducing yourself and ask if you could leave them a flier rather than just posting through do. Ultimately it'll be hard work and good work that'll get wors of mouth around about you. Try introducing yourself to established landscapers/ gardeners as they usually have work to pass on they don't want or have no time for. Again good luck 👍 cheers

Interesting video could I ask how heavy is the Stihl hedge cutting with battery attached ? . Reason for asking I’ve damaged both my rotator cuffs and find my petrol trimmer quite hard to use definitely looking for something that weighs a lot less . Cheers.
Hi, I'm not sure of the exact weight but I'd say half the weight of my petrol with the ap300 in it. Will try find the specs for it, definitely worth it to prevent issues related to weight and vibration etc. I had bad wrists and both golf/ tennis elbow issues which went away using battery gear as often as possible. The long reach battery you would go for the stihl 66 ?? Are the blade 20”or 24 “ mate Is it worth the £600 ish investment use my km combi most days Just worry about the maintenance part I service and fix my own machines with the battery is it back to the supplier to be fixed ?
I use the 66 a lot and harder than I should but generally get 18 months to 2 years out of them which may not sound great but the health benefits for me are worth it. There isn't much to fix on them just keep blades clean and there is a switch that can stop it working but easy fix ( video out weds on that) not sure blade length sorry. Plenty other battery gear out there to look at too. Kress and Cramer seem to be doing well with good commercial warranty, I'm looking into pellenc ATM. I'd say the investment is worth it but try a demo? Great name by the way😅 cheers for watching 👍
one tool i dont want to buy bcoz its gunna cost me 7-800 quid is the long reach hedge cutter. shtil or husq. but....i know itl be worth it. my makita 18v one is great for thin stuff but thick beech, leylandae seem to be a right struggle. i bought the milwuake chainsaw 18v andf that has saved the day a few times but up a ladder its awkward. i cannot stand the idea of being in a quiet street 8am , petrol engining the whole street. so loud. hence why i want 7-800 quid on a husq or stihl one. all my other gear im very very happy with and it all allows me to do big jobs.
Food for thought?? In no particular order.😂 The leaf grabber,saves the back definitley. Back up equipment in the truck,to blag it,you know guys😂 A manual extending pruning/cutter and blade.Cheap but saves climbing. Decent eyewear (only got your eyes once) A decent hat when your always hitting your head on stufff( bloody clothes lines) Top of the charts, Wine, cos you bloody well,deserve it.😂
Quite fond of that rioja, the wire that used to be wrapped round the bottle was a pain in the tits but I used my Felco’s to snip it off💪👍🏻 looks like they’ve upped their game and got rid😂

Don't worry I spent many years struggling on with old crap kit held together with zip ties and hope, working too hard on cheap jobs and living from credit cards. Do the graft long enough and you make some progress, that's why I looked at pole saws and tripod ladders etc for years thinking I'm not getting those. What a mistake, investment years ago and being a gardening millionaire could have been achieved, now my body is messed up from all that graft with poor equipment 🙄 cheers, aim for the kit that makes the job easier, believe me you'll end up regretting not getting it or packing in and driving for Tesco's

By the way, I also use my leaf grabbers to empty compost out of my composters when its ready. I gave up with using a fork or spade. I use a fork for loosening it then the grabbers come into action.
Good job I was just waving it around in the air...by my face😬😅 I've used it on the floor tho on jobs. Half the people you see out there or on YT in fact I doubt have tickets to run a saw. I have, not sure if not using a top handle unless harnessed up somewhere is an actual thing tho. Very much like your Pa1 and 6 etc, most don't have those either but spray on jobs.

TBH all of them, i wish i had bought everything sooner and bought the best quality out there straight away. only regrets I've had is inferior kit breaking or not working as it should. Maybe the bit of kit i wish i had bought sooner was a book/course on how to run a gardening business so i could have charged right and bought the kit i needed Hope you have a good week mate.

Bacho loppers have lasted me years well worth spending more , and the tripod steps ladders have been a game changer for stability and safety, my leaf grabbed are old squeezey mop type I ve had them years too , not made any more , they are tapped together with gorilla tape now , I refuse to let them go 😮

Gator grabbers are really good, strong and long, just a tad heavy. Pol saw, I have both powered and manual, defo a must, liddle or aldi loppers, last about a year or so, but as I use them for rough work, Ie removal not pruning, they are ideal, cheap and cheerful, tripod ladders, are a real game changer, you will never know how much until you get a set. battery gear is ok if you get the right bit of kit. (May be going back to stihl)

Very useful. Used petrol gear is cheap so young ones get them. Batteries are dear. I use all battery as i only do smallish gardens and use my estate car. So no petrol smell.
As you get older the petrol gear is harder in the body. Is cheaper tho so understand it. Cheers 👍👍

Great channel recently subscibed.I am a DIY er with a few BTL properties I like to look after myself .Love my own garden and have Gone the Einhell battery route and I have to say from a non professional point of view I am so far very happy with the quality ( and not forgetting Wolf tools).Your opinion would be appreciated.

I’ve got all of them, what a relief I don’t have to go out and buy anything! I’d definitely add that mattock to the list though, that’s an awesome tool; it’s a spade, an axe and a pretty good rake in a pinch all in one. One you didn’t mention but a favourite of mine is the Japanese sickle hoe (careful how you google that!) it’s become my go to for weeding.

Agree with all of those. I don't really do much working at height. So not so much the ladders for me personally. But I've got those Darlec leaf grabbers. ( or big hands on sticks as I call them ) as well as my fair share of battery kit. (EGO)
Loppers are generally aldi or lidl specials.. I know there shit when I buy them. But I'm cheap. So I make do.

@@LewisgardenservicesLtd Really like the EGO kit tbh. I've just bought the lawn edger to go on the end of the power head. I've got a fair bit of there kit now. Except a mower. I just don't think battery power is quite there yet for mowers. In terms of run time and cost effectiveness over petrol.

Sorry to hear your van was stolen , I use a pedal box lock on mine , if you haven't already got one , they work really well .

Only time i get pruners out is to cut me strimmer wire. Well thats not entirely true but they get more use for that than owt else.

The only thing I need to do now is get my customers in.
I’m advertising on social media, but haven’t heard anything yet, so I was wondering if you could give any advice on how to do that.

Most importantly congratulations on taking the leap and starting out, good luck💪🤞 Jan/ Feb always seem to be dead months especially when the weather is bad unless you have ongoing contracts or a large customer base where you know there are jobs to do. I've never had much luck with Facebook although a lot say they do. Keep active tho on the social media sites. I've also found random flier drops a waste of time but for immediate work target properties that look like they need a tidy up for spring, if confident in doing so try knocking an politely introducing yourself and ask if you could leave them a flier rather than just posting through do. Ultimately it'll be hard work and good work that'll get wors of mouth around about you. Try introducing yourself to established landscapers/ gardeners as they usually have work to pass on they don't want or have no time for. Again good luck 👍 cheers

Interesting video could I ask how heavy is the Stihl hedge cutting with battery attached ? . Reason for asking I’ve damaged both my rotator cuffs and find my petrol trimmer quite hard to use definitely looking for something that weighs a lot less . Cheers.
Hi, I'm not sure of the exact weight but I'd say half the weight of my petrol with the ap300 in it. Will try find the specs for it, definitely worth it to prevent issues related to weight and vibration etc. I had bad wrists and both golf/ tennis elbow issues which went away using battery gear as often as possible. Just worry about the maintenance part I service and fix my own machines with the battery is it back to the supplier to be fixed ?
I use the 66 a lot and harder than I should but generally get 18 months to 2 years out of them which may not sound great but the health benefits for me are worth it. There isn't much to fix on them just keep blades clean and there is a switch that can stop it working but easy fix ( video out weds on that) not sure blade length sorry. Plenty other battery gear out there to look at too. Kress and Cramer seem to be doing well with good commercial warranty, I'm looking into pellenc ATM. I'd say the investment is worth it but try a demo? Great name by the way😅 cheers for watching 👍

one tool i dont want to buy bcoz its gunna cost me 7-800 quid is the long reach hedge cutter. shtil or husq. but....i know itl be worth it. my makita 18v one is great for thin stuff but thick beech, leylandae seem to be a right struggle. i bought the milwuake chainsaw 18v andf that has saved the day a few times but up a ladder its awkward. i cannot stand the idea of being in a quiet street 8am , petrol engining the whole street. so loud. hence why i want 7-800 quid on a husq or stihl one.
all my other gear im very very happy with and it all allows me to do big jobs.
Having the tools you need for the work you do is the goal👍

Quite fond of that rioja, the wire that used to be wrapped round the bottle was a pain in the tits but I used my Felco’s to snip it off💪👍🏻 looks like they’ve upped their game and got rid😂

Don't worry I spent many years struggling on with old crap kit held together with zip ties and hope, working too hard on cheap jobs and living from credit cards. Do the graft long enough and you make some progress, that's why I looked at pole saws and tripod ladders etc for years thinking I'm not getting those. What a mistake, investment years ago and being a gardening millionaire could have been achieved, now my body is messed up from all that graft with poor equipment 🙄 cheers, aim for the kit that makes the job easier, believe me you'll end up regretting not getting it or packing in and driving for Tesco's
Don't knock the 'Granny'! I got the 1899 model, she does all my lifting and carrying, no fuel, no battery, just a weekly packet of Werthers Original.

By the way, I also use my leaf grabbers to empty compost out of my composters when its ready. I gave up with using a fork or spade. I use a fork for loosening it then the grabbers come into action.

Good job I was just waving it around in the air...by my face😬😅 I've used it on the floor tho on jobs. Half the people you see out there or on YT in fact I doubt have tickets to run a saw. I have, not sure if not using a top handle unless harnessed up somewhere is an actual thing tho. Very much like your Pa1 and 6 etc, most don't have those either but spray on jobs.

Each to their own👍 what's the weapon of choice? Battery was to keep my career going due to too many rsi injuries from continued use of the heavier tools/ vibrations. They have their limits compared to petrol so I run both. Cheers for watching 👍
Two things.
1. A farm jack for removing stumps and rotted off posts.
2. A really good bench grinder. Razor Sharp kit is a lot safer and makes a job a doddle.
