Man, I can't get enough of the styling of this Kawi. It's so spot on, the paint scheme and style, even down to the font, brings back so many memories of 70s bikes. I loved them, but I also like modern bikes that look like a cross between scorpions and Gundam, like my. GSXS1000GT
Well, I'm new to bikes. Learned on a CB500 and a Z650. I wanted to try a 4-cylinder engine and after not even one hour of test-drive the Z900RS I bought it. Got her home in heavy rain and loved the handling on wet roads. She's got Michelin Road 6GT (great for bad weather or late autumn) and got a throttle reset. It seems the problem with the throttle comes over time (~500 miles) and is easy to be "reset" with disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. As an old but bloody beginner I can tell you: my first 5000 miles where pure fun with the Z900RS. If i would have gotten one for a test drive, I'd probably have bought her little sister: Z650RS, I love the design, or a Suzuki Katana. Both were not available to test.
50 years old. I started on a Ninja 400 which I've had about a year. Have always loved the ZRX but this has taken its place as my dream bike because of the lighter weight and modern features. Will probably ride the Ninja another year or so just to continue perfecting skills as I know I haven't really scratched the surface of what it can do, but I really do want to upgrade to something more suitable for longer trips. This was a very informative video and validates my decision to stick with the Ninja just a little while longer. It's not easy though because my local shop has one in the showroom lol.
I bought the 2018 Z900rs Cafe in lime green in January of 2019. It was not my first bike but it was my firts new bike. I have 22,500 miles on it. Its still all stock except for radiator guard and rear fender delete. Ive ridden it in 10 different states taking trips with my wife on her z650. I love this bike. She rips and its not to bad in the corners. I have no plans to getvrid of it.
About the throttle issue: I fixed this issue by pure luck… Something very interesting happened to me today. I bought a 2020 DR650 last week that came with a Shorai LFX19A4-BS12 battery. I also have a 2018 Z900RS with an Antigravity ATZ-10-RS battery. The Z900RS WAS for sale. I decided I wanted to keep the Antigravity battery so I swapped it for the Shorai.. I took the Z900RS for a spin today and what do you know, no more snatchy throttle nor clunky transmission feel/sound at all. Long story short, Z900RS feels like a whole new different bike and it ain’t for sale anymore. Thanks for reading my Ted Talk 😂 but seriously tho, it’s fixed!!!
I'm lucky to live in some really wide-open places, haven't thought twice about buying the z900rs cafe after 9k miles. Seating height and riding position, especially on the Cafe version, fits me like a glove for 250+ mile rides. Low vibration helps a lot with endurance. As mentioned, it's ready to blast off over 6k rpm, I've been riding in the higher rev range lately (6-9k rpm) and it seems to like it there. Tolerating traffic is difficult with it.
if i buy the Z900RS it will be my fourth bike. 8.5 years on two’s at almost 100,000 miles total in the wind. i have owned three vtwin cruisers. a yamaha vstar 1100 classic. a harley electra glide ultra and a victory highball. and i am DONE. DONE it tell you, with american vtwin junk. im over it. i dont know if i will be able to do road trips with the Z900RS but i am going to try! get me some shad saddlebags. maybe a universal wind screen and we shall see. but i am done with noisy rattling broken down american junk that makes me worry if im finna break down all the time.
I currently own a CB650R, but I want something more powerful and more retro-looking. So the Z900RS will probably be my next bike I can't wait to testride it soon 🤩 I like your style!
I think it needs said that there are few different levels of "beginner" older folks over 25 that are well coordinated and have experience on dirt bikes or scooters, and know how to drive a stick shift car well, and are generally not clumsy, should be perfectly fine with a bike like z900rs, now people that are under 23 with zero experience with fast cars and manual transmission cars, never riden a dirt bike or mini bike, are not CONFIDENT enough and might be naturally clumsy to some degree, those kind of beginner should probably start out on a scooter and learn basic traffic techniques and fundamentals then progress towards a small displacement daul sport or something like a rebel, but there are even levels in between those 2 extremes where they might want look at a z650rs instead of the 900, but certainly every beginner shouldn't be lumped together
I left Harley after years of faithful dedication. This was my change over. Didn’t get into it thinking about resale and if you want to talk about expensive to fix, go to Harley. I agree it’s not for beginners when it comes to the power and performance but the rest I guess is a matter of opinion.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment. I've only owned a HD once, it left me stranded, cost me 600 for a new fuel pump, and I was done. I've been tempted a few times by the 2017 Lowrider S, but perhaps it's the nagging negative memory that keeps me away.
I have been riding since 1979, my first bike was a 1975 Z1. I have a 2019 z900rs Cafe now, and the tires are stock. I can not see how they "suck". Do they wobble? do they go flat? wear out prematurely? I don't think a beginner is going to be pushing tires to the limit. I know there are better tires out there, but I really don't understand all the hatred towards the stock Dunlops
I think the Zed9rs would be too much bike for someone who is inexperienced or has never riden before. This bike isn't the fastest out there but, it's definatley fast enough to get ahead of a rider very quickly.
Great reasonable advice. Worked my way up from an FZR600, then a GSXR750, took a decade break and climbed back into riding on a Rebel. I’m looking at the Zed this spring. Like your jacket too. What brand are you wearing?
I hope you enjoy the Zed when you get it! This jacket is the old Dainese Super Speed Textile Jacket. If you can find one in good shape and fit, then get it! It's a great jacket.
Poor review, very user friendly bike. Handles beautifully! I don’t think your review has any real value. Sounds to me like you’re on the wrong bike. Just my opinion
there's only about 10 of these things for sale private party west of the Mississippi, none are 3-4 thousand dollars. The cheapest 2 are $6700 and $6500. both have about 10K miles
@@oggyoggy1299 yea I had to take it to a garage to get an impact gun to crack it as mine was not powerful enough and my breaker bar was flexing! Absolutely no need for it on a splined shaft with a crush / tab washer !
I started on a Z650RS two years ago. The 900 will be my upgrade in another few years. Love them!
I'm 68 years old now i just bought the 2024 Kawasaki Z900RS it's the perfect motorcycle for me just the right a m

Everyone drops their bike sooner or later. Get some frame sliders
I never have to date but I'm sure it will happen one day !

The exhaust system and styling is what I love the most..

They are pretty bad imho if it's cold, or damp, and they don't offer much feel.
Mount some road 6's and you will realize how bad the Dunlops suck.
So basically if your someone that drops things alot don't get a motorbike...on the other hand if this is your dream get one and have fun...

I apologize if I wasn't very clear, I was stating you'd loose 3 to 4k if you bought one new and sold it used.
My plan to 2030 is Cf moto 450NK - Z650 RS - Z900 RS.
Z900RS is sex on wheels, gotta have it someday
z900rs 77yrs old 5000 miles. its a brute and i would not have it any other way.
I'm thinking about a z650rs as my first bike...
Put a 16tooth front sprocket…makes it perfect
Seems like a cheap enough thing to try :)
I did that a month ago.
It’s how it should have come from the factory.
The nut on the front sprocket is on RIDICULOUSLY tight.

sorry but this guy is full of it. the z900rs is a perfect bike. the factory tires are fine as well. buy it and enjoy.
i wouldn't trust a guy that grabs the clutch with 4 fingers :D
Most new riders drop their bike? NOT…….Foolish statement
Why is it whining so loud all the time? Doesn't sound healthy.
If you can ride a bicycle you can ride any motorcycle
🤣
Kawi H2 here I come!
Busa me up then! 😂
I mean, the Busa does have a nice long wheelbase
