Sounds awsome Had 650 dr in the 1992 and put trails side car on it and road enduro for 7 years had good run out of it 2 years ago buy another 1 for ride bike But i got to do some think with that seat LOL
Shout out to @bertsbike for helping me install the engine crash bars !!
Ive been between the gsx8r and zx4rr for a few months now.. my practical side says ill have enough fun on the Suzuki and will feel better about my purchase in the long run
If I had it to do over again it would be the Suzuki
@@tsdmoto appreciate you weighing in ;)
Truly a awesome bike all round
Agreed !
ZX4R need remapping
they did it for noise reasons, not emissions reasons, from my understanding.
I've heard that as well but seems like they could have used an exhaust "flapper" like some euro bikes.
What Sw bag is on the back?
Am just confused between Arrow slip on and Yoshimura AT2 with 20k-insert. I know how Yoshi sounds, but can you help me out how Arrow (slip on without DB killer) sounds at idle/low/high revs.
I bought z900 rs for my 1st big bike and I love the style and the bike handling. It not fast as superbike but its enough for me.
Info on this Ivan dude? Contact info.does he have a TH-cam channel?
it sounds a lot like you've kind of convinced yourself not to like the bike. i understand it broke down on you and you had to have it repaired, however it isn't uncommon for vehicles to have an issue, not every single vehicle will be perfect right out of the factory. I've had two ktm 390's a 2021 and a 2022, never had a problem with either one, i wheelie the 2021 a lot! too! if you know what the 390 is (which is a single cylinder thumber!) then you know really low in the rpms"s it won't be the smoothest, it has one cylinder firing lol expect it so chug super low in the rev range, get a fuel controller and that's fixed! ive had no issues with ktm the 390 specifically, so much so that ive purchased two duke 390's and now im buying the adventure 390. i expect to encounter a problem or repair from time to time, what worries me more than anything is the manufactures warranty and desire to rectify that repair.
The lights, the damned lights but too late cos I just got mine 2 days prior ✌🏻🫠🩵 but love the beast within that inline 4 as a beginner in sports mid segment 😊
I HAD a 2021 Pan America that was the worst bike I’ve ever owned. Stranded in the forest. Stator quit at 6k 👎🏻
From what I read, max torque is around 4600 and max HP@6000, just check your tach...oh wait they did not bother with one. I like your balanced review.
Probably you can't find neutral cause your cable clutch aren't adjusted.
Now you're all farkled up? 👍 I like your mindful modding. The DR is what it is, so slightly pushing it toward on or off road is all ok. But it's expensive to try to make a major move. Buy the right platform and the DR can do a lot of things 'good enough' but will never be the best at any one thing, Wire routing - They make stick on zipTie mounts so if you find a safe routing location, these stick on mounts might help,
Bike weighs like a whale at a stop lol
Seems like you're letting the engine rev to high in certain parts of the video and not shifting when you're supposed to. You should be able to ride any bike without needing to rev the engine so high, especially when you have more gears left. Sure you can use the engine to help slow the bike but there's no reason to ever let the RPMs be so high when doing this. I'm sorry but you're mistreating your bike and if there was a Motorcycle Protective service, like child protective service, I would be obligated to turn you in for Motorcycle abuse.
I like to wind her out, what can I say
Very nice 💥 💯
I’ve one of each, no issues w snatchy throttle. Both ‘22s
Excellent choice. The DR650 is a stone-reliable offroad machine with very little to go wrong on you far from a paved road or help of any kind. Wonderful bikes, I have a 2022 model myself.
I've had bikes for years and gave them away when I reached 40. When I was 68/69 in 2022 I happened to see a new green Kawa Z900rs at a dealership. It now has 36,000klms and I cannot get enough of it! Downside is maintenance cost, but nothing better than riding! Poor man's Farrari!
Your carb problem could be the aftermarket vent tube fitting on your gas tank vent line. We found they them to be troublesome on our ATVs. It was a hard problem to figure out, now we tell anyone we see with them to take them off.
You guys know there is a 650 version of this bike, right? They made the 650 for people who don't want the extra power of gas mileage.
Cruise control would be nice to have. But it would need ride by wire for that.
ECU Reflash by Ivan. Problem solved, smoother, richer, quicker warmup, better low and middle range. Cheers.
Great review man! Love the bike!
I am interested to know your experience in the differences and similarities of the KTM 390 and the DR 650. My primary bike is a ‘24 Honda Transalp. I just bought a ‘23 KTM 390, and a ‘22 DR 650. Similar bikes, but very different in use. I’ll ride all three, if one gets left far more than the others, that one might be sold. Even considering keeping all three 🤷♂️
Some very good points about resale, center of gravity, tires, expense to fix after a crash, power, weight. However, many bikes, come with crappy tires, depending on the price of the bike to some extent. I wouldn't spend a lot of money on my first guitar until I knew I was hooked on playing. Same with a bike. The Z900RS represents a lot of money, even used, for a first bike despite its depreciation, and that should qualify it as a poor choice for a first bike. As does the engine size. Besides the tires, you are getting a lot of quality and precision with the RS. Very good brakes, much above average suspension. I wouldn't worry about the tech it comes with, or lack of, when compared with other modern bikes. It can't stop you from crashing, but it gives you a much better chance of riding out a poor choice or degree of input (e.g. too much front brake) than without these rider safety aids. The suitability of the seat height is totally dependent on the rider and will vary. I would say you are LESS LIKELY to develop bad habits with this bike compared with a cheaper bike. Bad habits are going to happen when you can do too much or too little of an input and still get away with it without crashing or coming close. I see that as being more likely with a bike of poorer quality. A bike with an imu is going to be a newer, more expensive bike, which is not a great proposition for a first bike for reasons you described. What will save your bacon the most is practicing, regardless of the bike choice and taking a beginner rider safety course is a great way to start developing good habits and to better understand the theory behind controlling your bike and knowing what kind of positioning around traffic will give you the most time to react. I would recommend to a new rider to get a bike in the 300-500 cc range that they can flatfoot, can afford to insure and is in good mechanical shape (especially chain and tires). There are a ton of great bike options, both new and used, that can fit the bill, depending on your dimensions. I'd rather go used and spend the money saves on some new tires that you have researched and at least an oil change. Take your time to enjoy the ride and PRACTIE. It's a crazy world out there full of zombies who aren't aware you are there.
Hi…good video! I have the same…what is your top case setup?
It's a cheapie, Temsome or something like that. Not bad for the money but be careful if you get one, the edges of the mounting tabs are crazy sharp.
the new Honda being the updated 600rr ?
Seems like you prefer to not use the quick shifter, and clutch in yourself? My friend, you could have saved a bunch of money and just gone with the ZX-4R. I'm putting a deposit down next week on a 2025 ZX-4RR. I really like the new KRT livery with the yellow/gold striping. Ride safe. Enjoy.
Great eye! I use the quick shifter but I have to remember to do it if I haven't ridden the 4RR in a while! I hope you get that KRT livery on your new Kawi!
Love the r9t line but feels like they're a little too small for someone who's 6'3. Great vid btw
Thank you! Was it just the seat to peg distance the was the problem or was it the handlebars too?
@@tsdmoto I guess the seat to foot peg distance.
Got the same in white and love it! 3rd NineT and 5th Boxer engine..would never buy anything else than a boxer.
What's your favorite thing about the boxer platform?
Nice video! I loved it
Ignore the negative comment from the first numpty. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the bike 😊
Thanks, some folks don't appreciate classics
R9T was one of the worst motorcycles I've had the displeasure of riding. This engine belongs in history, not modern roads
LOL Nice
Remember. Your mom did not love you because the way you are. Not the other way around. JK. Peace. ❤
@@koziol.lukasz Don't worry, yours gave me enough love to compensate
@ fair enough :)
Lol. This guy...
I love my 08'. Been all over California, Nevada and Utah. Every inch of Death Valley..Never let me down, not once. Trying to make it to 50k...or more.
2023 RS SE. I just ride around it for now, but my plan is to get the tune after the warranty runs out next year. For those saying there is no stanchness, there is. You're just not sensitive to it, or don't ride it in a way that makes it obvious. It's not like there's a massive shove, it feels like a drive chain with too much slack in it. It only really bothers me mid corner, it unsettles the bike.
Sounds like you feel the same as I did mid corner. Best of luck with your tune and the 23 RS SE is a stunning bike.
I'm currently riding a 2014 BMW R1200RT and a 2023 KLX 300. I'm thinking of selling the BMW and buying a Z900RS. They just look and sound nice. I miss the sound and power of a 4 cylinder engine. I loved my 94 VMax and my Kawasaki Concours. The problem is I like the cruise control on the Beemer, it has spoiled me. Kawasaki has upgraded the Z900 ABS to throttle by wire but not the RS. Maybe next year??? I'm 71 now and have owned 30 bikes over the years, both dirt and street.
I get it, I'm something of a cruise control addict.
Zx4rr is my first bike and done everything to it under the sun, tops at about 150ish on a good day and is really fun. Next is the zx10r
I have a T7 and I'm looking for a lighter bike for BDRs and for riding around NW Arkansas and SW Missouri. I appreciate you explaining what you did and why. Subbed!
Don't discount the stock carburetor, I have mine dialed and the bike absolutely rips with no complaints, at all. if you haven't already, cut a bike hole out of the top of the airbox, you've got a yosh pipe so the airbox mod is a must, there's no getting around it. Get a 45 pilot jet, and one of those extended fuel mixture screws, and adjust it for zero decel pop. I rotated my carb breather thingo and have mine placed above the rocker cover, in that little cranny there, no issues at all. I know on the internet there is alot of yay or nay about drilling the slide and cutting the spring, in my personal experience, my bike didnt run without those mods, the slide wouldnt rise fast enough, or enough to give the bike the air and fuel it wanted, thus it would surge, bike pulls like a freight train now. With a 15/44 sprocket setup, you can't flick through the gears fast enough
Thanks man. Great explanation. I am installing sound insert today.
I'm in the process of going the Ivan's tune route. I just swapped the stock pipes for a Delkevic system, and we're heading into winter, so the bike is garaged anyway and sending out the ECU for a week is no biggie. It's not just the abrupt throttle for me though. I'm also getting a major power surge right off idle in first and (to a lesser extent) second gear, particularly when coming from a stop. The bike kind of "burbles" for lack of a better description, struggles for a second, and then just full power like someone turned on a firehose. I've had the lightswitch throttle on other bikes (an EPA / emissions artifact), but this is a lot more. Kind of dangerous - if I'm not carefully modulating the clutch in 1st, it can easily launch you out of control. I'm not the bike's first owner, and I've found a couple of suspect maintenance jobs from the PO. So I'm thoroughly going through, replacing all the filters, fuel pump, cleaning the injectors, etc, even though I only have 6,000 miles on it. Process of elimination. Once I'm sure that is all done well, I'll get the ECU flashed. Anyone else have a surging issue with the Z? Were you able to track it to anything?
Most new riders drop their bike? NOT…….Foolish statement
is full system a lot louder then these slip ons?
how is the black paint holding up?
Poor review, very user friendly bike. Handles beautifully! I don’t think your review has any real value. Sounds to me like you’re on the wrong bike. Just my opinion
I bought the motorcycle ZX4RR Peformance, and I love it. 80 Ps Europe, Euro5+
