  • There are a lot of crf 250l mods available to us lighweight adventure riders. In this video I talk through the full system exhaust upgrade that I have done as one of the CRF 250l mods on my bike.
The system is a full Delkevic system and I explain why I chose this for my CRF 250l and how exhaust mods like these affect the bike.

Dude this exhaust is extremely loud, I don't have the extra baffle for sound quieting yet but without it I don't believe it's road legal

Thanks for the video. I’m a bit late to this party... but I bought a Delkevic intermediate pipe and silencer for my old (1992) Yamaha Serow to replace the rusted out original. I like the kit, looks fine and it’s lighter than the standard silencer. However, it was too loud for my liking so I took the silencer off, put a stainless steel pot-scrubber in the silencer downstream of the baffle and replaced everything. Perfect! Still sounds fine but just a little quieter. Nice channel you’ve got going, interesting and keeps moving on. Thank you. Les in UK

Hey Les, that's some great feedback 👍🏻. It is a fraction too loud in hindsight, so this sounds like an ideal fix. Thanks for the support 👊🏻😎

hey I am having the same issue, much much too loud giving me a rattle in my brain.
you added the pot scrubber into the dB killer/silencer that is inside the actual can?
I dont want to go back to stock exaust as it's super heavy and practically silent but right now I need ear plugs!

@@coryt888 Cory, I took off the silencer, and put the SS potscrubber inside the silencer, so the exhaust pressure blows the scrubber up against the main (only) baffle. It’s an old trick from the 1960s or earlier (and yes, I was riding bikes then). Hope it works for you, too. Les

Great vid as always guys. I’ve put the full FMF Q4 and Powerbomb header on mine and it’s sound great. However, even with an EJK and K&N it burns more fuel but it still sounds awesome and the weight saving of the end can was great and helps offset the additional weight of the inpreda crash bars...

@@lightweightadv not looked at the suspension side of things yet. Been out a couple of times now and haven’t noticed the issues of it bottoming out yet. But I’m sure as I progress and thrash it more then it will become more noticeable. I was lucky enough to spend the day at Dave Thorpe Off-road centre last week and am a lot more confident now so likely to be looking at suspension soon so look forward to another superb vid from you guys.

@@carkdonwah1528 Hi Interesting. I have only had the bike a short while and although it is a 68 plate has only done 400 miles of which 200 were done in last two days. Over the 200 miles I had it stall when coasting to a junction with clutch in on 3 or 4 occasions - not always however. Does this sound familiar? If so it would be nice to know what your actual green EJK settings are?

    • @calktm

@@carkdonwah1528 I fitted the YSS rear shock and a heavier Ktec fork spring, and even ignoring off-road, the bikes tracks sharper and smoother in corners as a road bike. The shock I would say is 90% of the improvement. Seat height goes up a great deal however - I went from feet flat to tip-toes

Pointing out the obvious as sometimes it is not. I would not run this system as it is possible to get stuck under the exhaust and burnt without a heat shield. Been trapped under the bike and happy my shield was in place.I would not needed skin grafts.

Hi fenner g, I am actually not running it at the moment. I still have it but have taken it off as it can get quite loud when doing prolonged periods on the road. My current helmet isn't the quietest either which doesn't help. @@lightweightadv That's the one thing that's stopping me going for an aftermarket can ! I fancy the weight loss but not the noise. Had these exhausts on other bikes and they are great value but not the quietest. Think I'm going to stay with the standard pipe for now, as your answer seems to be a lot of people's opinion as well, and I like to stay stealthy on the byways. One other question, what gearing are you running ? Mine came with 13/42 which was very low geared for prolonged road stints, I've just fitted a DID Xring and 13/40 to see how I get on ?
