    I've had one of these cars for about 7 months, really enjoy the drive. I agree with his honest assessment of the car, don't be put off by it being Chinese. Consider this for your next car.

    I have the pre facelift and drove one of these when my car was being serviced. They are a big improvement in terms of refinement over the original model but still retain the fun factor. I was impressed. I plan to keep my current car for a while yet as it’s been 100 percent reliable but will definitely consider another MG3

    I have the same car. Negatives, low gears are a little whiney, bit jumpy when cold, no climate control, no Android auto, no outside temp control other than on trip. Positives, very comfortable, not slow, albeit not fast, reasonably economical, refined engine, very spacious for a small car, price, 7 year warranty. Overall, very satisfied

    • @FuelPower
      @FuelPower  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes unfortunately all cars have their shortcomings but when you consider the price you pay for something like this, some of the negatives can be overlooked. That said as an Android phone user...the lack of Android Auto would bug me but the Climate Control wouldn't bother me personally too much as it has AC in this spec. It seems that the positives you've listed outweigh the negatives and i'm glad you like your MG3. Overall, all things considered, I think they're good value for money!

    Really enjoyed my own test drive of the MG 3 when I considered replacing my MG ZR. I may pick up one at some point.

    • @FuelPower
      @FuelPower  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are good fun cars. The handling is very direct on them and these latest ones are loaded with technology. I can see the appeal behind them. I think the ZR would be better for your autosoloing though!

    Just had an MG3 exclusive nav on hire.
    Here are the pros and cons of this car.
    Pros....
    Looks okay
    Fairly roomy
    Decent sized boot
    Well equipped
    Decent economy
    Reasonable acceleration from standstill
    Acceptability quiet on the move.
    Decent warranty
    Cons....
    Woefully slow in gear acceleration
    Narrow door mirrors
    Sat Nav a bit hit and miss
    Low beam useless at nighttime.
    Ineffective rear parking sensors.
    Had been looking at this model as a possible replacement for my wife's 2017 Hyundai i20, I could put up with the other issues but just couldn't live with the poor low beam as driving round strange Hertfordshire country roads at night was a bit of an ordeal to say the least.

    I'm looking to buy one but was wondering about the average MPG. My car currently gets 54 MPG.

    • @FuelPower
      @FuelPower  ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to answer this from personal experience as I only had the car for about 2hrs to review it however from friends who have 2nd gen MG3s, they report in the region of 46-48mpg as an average over motorways and A roads.

    Picanto and i10 are not rivals of this car. Same size as the iwp and the Rio

    • @FuelPower
      @FuelPower  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fair comment and I actually agree with the Picanto and i10 not directly being rivals on size. The thing with the MG3 is that it does slot in closer to the price of the Picanto and i10 moreso than the Rio. A lot of potential buyers look at cost and specs and what they get for their money over outright size. A 7 year warranty, 5 seats and the practicality of the 3 for around the price of a Picanto is not really something that can be ignored. It's not the easiest car to find direct and definitive rivals due to these things. The closest and easily identifiable rival of this would be the Dacia Sandero on price and size.

  • @jgrant1162
    @jgrant1162 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    And so it begins....., the demise of the European car industry. China is taking a leaf out of the Japanese motorbike industry, start small and cheap, establish a good reputation, and dealerships, then start going upmarket. Some manufacturers like Citreon are coming out of the small town car market, I really think this is a serious mistake. Before long it will be producing family size cars that European car manufacturers will not be able to compete with on price.

    • @RiksVids
      @RiksVids 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      MG already had a Focus size (class) car, but discontinued it a few years ago to concentrate on SUV's which they now have several of in the UK, including Hybrid and EV versions. They also have an all electric estate car called the MG5
