There is a link to it on the Pimax Blog, but as you say it is not out yet on the regular download-site or if you click on the Pimax Play check for upgrades button. Still a Beta though.
Thanks for this video Mark !! I have tried something on my "not enough powerfull" configuration, run it at 72fps and 72 hertz, in that settings no more blurry images while moving ,fast, no micro stuttering, nothing even during aérobatics manoevers, sooo good ! It's easier to have 72 fps than 90 fps. Could be great to have different options and of course available for the original Crystal.
Thanks Mark! Perfect timing as I am waiting for my delivery. Given up pondering about how to use Pilot2atc with headset as I understand a new version is imminent. Regards David
Again, thanks for the video Mark. Upscaling is a strange animal, it can look so good in some titles and be a mess in others. For those who might not know what upscaling is, here's a simple explanation...... If you have a 4k TV, and you play a 720p (HD) or 1080p (Full HD) movie on it, the TV will upscale it to 4k, this is why a 720p movie will not look as good as a native 4k movie due to the upscaling, upscaling can only do so much. 😉
I don't know if it's just me, but I find Tokyo to be quite performance-friendly, even with LODs cranked pretty high, which is surprising given how dense it is. I find Los Angeles to be a tougher performance test, even though not as dense as Tokyo. Thank you for this...looking forward to trying it when my Crystal Light finally arrives!
I find that my 4080 already struggled in MSFS given the image quality I want, so I’m thinking of waiting for a 5090 and then perhaps get the Pimax Crystal Super instead of the light. How much of a difference would you expect the Super to have over the light, especially if you play space sims where you see stars against deep black? Does micro LED local dimming work well in that situation, or should I hold out for the OLED screens? Also, is fixed foviated rendering as useful as dynamic with eye tracking? I noticed you didn’t enable it in any test here, how much performance would it add?
One thing not mentioned by reviewers is the performance hit the image takes with different aircraft. Helicopters are all well and good but they provide a very relaxing environment for the image generation as the scene is almost not moving. For me whether it is DCS or FS20 the test of scenery creation (that is smooth and without tearing and glitching) has to be with the FA18 doing barrel rolls like they do in real life over the Brisbane River. When you can do that in VR and the city landscape and rolling horizon is smooth then it will be as good as 2D and I will take it (the headset) out of the box again.
@@CoreGamingProject it is the built in FPS counter in MSGS plus MSI Afterburner. SS inserts artificial frames to increase frame count. Upscale renders a small image so can do it faster, then upscales the resolution.
My problem is that even though I can live with 30-50fps in MSFS I get like a flickering stutter when I move my head to look around. If I lower the resolution this problem disappear but then it gets a little blurry. Can you look around with smooth image when the fps is as low as 30-35fps? I am running an i5-12600k with a RTX4090 and a Crystal Light.
@@SimHangerFS Thanks so much for reply! The flickering stutter when looking around does not go away when locking the framerate, not even as low as 72(36Hz). Already tried that. My computer can keep the fps quite steady at 40-45fps but still has this flickering stutter when looking around. I assume that it is either a setting in Nvidia-drivers or my CPU that is bottlenecking. That is why I was curious if you can look around with a smooth(as smooth as it gets with low fps) experience when flying with only 30-35fps as you show in this video? Love your channel btw🙂
@@SimHangerFS Just wanted to let you know that I found the sollution. I found out that the stuttering did not occur when my game was in the background. So I tried to turn the machine-accelerated GPU in windows settings off. That fixed the problem. Really happy now, no more flickering. Just the regular compromizes to find the best visuals and performance. Thanks for your help!

Can someone tell me whether you can delete the compass on the top left-hand side of your monitor on Microsoft flight simulator without deleting the other items, such as speed, flaps, etc. ??? I’m aware that you can turn the HUD display off but that turns everything off.
My cpu is 5800X3D and apparently this beta will not work and will not install on AMD cpus. I tried but I can't install this beta. The 90Hz Upscale(Lab) option did not appear after trying to install the beta.
It’s easy to feel like now that they’re giving the ‘light’ but not the original version all this cool stuff like upscaling that they’ve deprioritized the original crystal. Not cool, especially after we spent as much as we did.
A new headset needs to sell, so they can have enough money to make the 'Super' model. And most likely the upscale was in production when Crystal was being sold, but not enough ready/polished to provide it with that headset.
Do you have a defective crystal light? I just got mine two days ago and both lenses are defective one worse than the other. Once the lenses get replaced I think the picture quality will be great. I have severe warping on the right lense and it’s foggy with mura
@@vivid_clarity no, I don't think is defective. It's just a aspheric lenses issue. When you come from pancakes this is a hard adaptation. I'm fighting against a correct IPD and eyes distance to the lens. Also need a top strap. I get some wobble, not perfect as the Quest 3. The image quality is far superior of course but I'm not happy with the lens. Be sure you preheat the lens to avoid fog. Might be a lens calibration problem.. reseating the lens could be the solution. I don't know. I remember having some trouble the first couple of days with my Quest 3.. headache, ipd problems.. then turned out to be amazing.
@@theegodelpozo yeah I do have the top strap I like it a lot, I had the quest 3 for a while and tbh the edges of the aspheric lenses don’t bother me much just the warping which is a defect and my lenses have mura which isn’t really suppose to happen with these lenses, it would be nice if they could implement a IPD calibration tool in the future. I had some issues getting the IPD right but now I know it’s hard to get use to because my lenses are defective and it’s very apparent the “sweet spot” is warped like a fish eye and warps the image when looking around the cockpit, but others on forums have had this issue and it was resolved with replacement lenses. Try getting the studio-form inserts, you’ll be able to add or remove distance from the lenses.

Another fantastic video Mark! The Pimax Upscale is the way to go :-)

I thought DLSS required DirectX 12? In any case, I can't wait to give this try. Looks like a great option.
DLSS with frame generation enabled requires DX12, but I believe that DLSS without FG works on RTX 2000 and 3000 series cards, does it not?
Only if you want to use FG (DLSS3) …not avail for VR.
