The Pimax Crystal battery will stay fully charged by using a separate USB cable to the port on the headset using a QC3 charger, love your channel and you have helped me out many times, look forward to Pimax Super😊
Thanks for the tip. Yeah I cannot wait for the super and the 5000 series gou which we will need to run the crystal super lol. But it should look so sharp I think the limitation will be the game now
Thanks for the comparison sir! (Really appreciate your MS2020 setup videos; thanks for such detailed help in the past!!!! Praying that 2024 will be a nice performance improvement, but still looking forward to your setup recommendations when it arrives.) I already ordered the Light version about a week ago, looking forward the the improvement vs my oldie but goodie G2. Question: Upscaling; I might need it with my 3080Ti + 7800X3D setup, (waiting on 50 series for my next GPU U/G.) It supposedly takes the same Res as the G2 and scales it up to the Light Res with some smoothing? You think I will actually see a noticeable quality improvement in the Light vs G2 when using this upscaling mode? I'm getting conflicting, vague answers to that question in my basic simple searches online. Thank you sir!
Thanks for the comment. I have tried the upscaling and yes it does work I personally feel that dlss is better but you're going to have to test using dlss or using the upscaling method and taa mode to see what is best for you. I had a 3080ti and needed to set my resolution around 3200 using taa. But that was before they had upscaling built in to the software so it's something you're going to have to test as far as the difference between the G2 and the Crystal it's going to be night and day for you the crystal is much clearer over the entire lens then the G2 ever was
I tried a demo of the Crystal a while back, but my eyes were too far from the lenses to get a decent FOV. Any ideas how the visible FOV of the two headsets compares (obviously depends on head shape)?
If the lenses were acrylic I would say that could be a possibility but they're glass so there shouldn't be any issue there. Glass is glass whether you're putting it on your windshield for your car a mirror inside of your bathroom
@@2020fsers - On Reddit, Pimax talked about a release during the next few weeks - about 1.5 years ago if I remember right. :D Thus the customer seems to be paying for technology which will never make it to their homes. Maybe you could ask them another question? - Which brand of varnish they guzzled when deciding to remove eye tracking from the Crystal Light? 🤨
@@2020fsers Asking Pimax about this is futile. The WiGig module has been one of Pimax's products which is perpetually "just around the corner" since 2022. You should check out the history of the 12K.
Did pimax allowed fan control finally? I heard several review for crytals mentioning them getting hot, which I hated on my old reverb g2 and absolutelly love on quest2/3 that they have proper and silent cooling. Compared to that I can find temperature complains on pimax forums.
On the crystal light there are no fans . So there would be no fan control. The heat issue I am told they are working on that's 1 reason I didn't do a powered up review of the crystal light as of yet.
@@2020fsers Uff ... damn , that is a giant NONO in my book.... why would they NOT put a 15 bucks fan to a 800 bucks headset is beyound me. I remember my old reverb g2 that was literally pain to use due to first 20min of usage was just about fogging and then later about sweating in it during summer days. There is a fearking giant reason why META is equiping fans to all their headsets, and not just for CPU/GPU cooling, those fans are actually pushing air to the face mask as well.
Between these two headsets, I would not recommend the original Crystal to anyone. The newer Crystal Light is the clear choice. Pimax was very overambitious with the original Crystal and filled it with features that never worked which is why it's so heavy. The newer Crystal Light deletes all the sections that Pimax never could get to work. This not only eliminates a large amount of deadweight, but also eliminates sources of major bugs and headaches that Pimax never addressed in the original Crystal. The battery in the original Crystal is useless but required. The standalone mode it was intended for never got anywhere. And the 60G wireless module is still vaporware with poor outlook to ever actually release. If it ever does release, it has significant limitations... such as requiring _a second battery to work._ The Crystal Light and all future headsets will not be compatible with the 60G wireless module so this is pretty much an abandoned technology. There are also issues like the nonfunctional built-in wireless module inside every original Crystal (it was originally intended to have WiFi 6e wireless in addition to the 60GHz optional module, also abandoned) nevertheless causing interference with the lighthouse faceplate which causes pretty severe problems with loss of tracking of the controllers. Since the wireless module is deleted in Crystal Light, the lighthouse faceplate works correctly on that model. The list goes on about all the problems with the original Crystal which are eliminated in the Crystal Light by simply deleting the troubled sections. The comparison of specifications doesn't cover that, but this stuff is significant in actual use. Speaking of specifications, Pimax's claims about FOV on both headsets is a straight up lie. In reality, they both use the same optical stack and so have the same FOV of 103H x 103V, _much_ less than advertised.
If they hadn't removed the eye tracking, it would be a viable alternative. In each and every company there's a special guy responsible for spoiling a good product with adding or removing one single detail.

DLSS - Scaling up lower resolution content for making it's lower resolution obvious.

For me the light is slightly and I mean slightly higher fov . But that is subjective for my head shape.
Please review shiftall MeganeX too
I already reached out to them 3 days ago .
So, how safe is it to use the anti fog product in the long run? Does it not potentially damage the lenses in the long run?

Glass lenses shouldn't be your concern, but foam should be.
@@2020fsers thanks! The tip for the Settings in the Pimax were really useful. It really helps to diminish the fog, great!

Most important question not answered: Will the 60G Airlink EVER be available? Got announced eons ago, never made it to the shelves.
Not sure about the release .I did ask pimax so let's see if we get an answer . I will let you know when I do.
