@@darockk you cant for a switch lite. And the joycon costs 90 bucks. So buying a part for 10 bucks is way better than a new controller.
I just followed this tutorial and my son can now move down again! Did panic a little cause the screen didn't turn on at first. After fully reassembling though it turned on and was relieved. Great tutorial!

3:46 Before you reattach the Main Flex Cable to the daughter board put a screw in the hole where the flex cable lies. The flex cable will be in your way when you go to do the final screws to hold the daughterboard down. Great tutorial!
Too bad the genius who made this video forgot that, oh and what screws should go where, and when you should put those screws in and no alternate angles of the assembly. Also, no mention that if you do it the way this genius tells you too, there is a really good chance you will destroy the little wires. Because they don't tell you that you are supposed to disassemble this more. But who cares if you destroy your stuff, they have content. Absolute trash tutorial.
@@evanfoster2168 First off, Its YOUR job to keep track of what screws go where. That's the most basic thing everyone should do when disassembling anything. Secondly, no, you don't need to disassemble it more. If you're struggling to plug them in and need more space, sure, disassemble it more. But unless you're extremely incompetent with electronics, you don't really risk breaking anything doing what he showed.

We just ordered the controller from Amazon ($12.00) and used your guide. Difficulty was a 2 out of 10...hardest part was getting the back off. Great resource and Great job posting!!!! Works like a champ!
Thank you for this excellent, clear, and concise tutorial! I appreciated each time you said how many screws there were per step, and because you said the screwdriver size each time, I was able to prepare with the right tools for the job. I was able to replace my dying left joystick with these great instructions (my old stick had the opposite of drift, it had developed a growing deadzone that made it impossible for the system to recognize the stick's full extension in two directions). I was nervous about opening up my Lite because of precious save data on the system, but with your video's help, I was able to do the replacement with no problems! The hardest part was getting the fragile, tiny, power button ribbon cable reattached during reassembly, but even that wasn't too hard. Thanks!
I had used your tutorial for the right stick replacement last year (a total nightmare process that was made much less stressful thanks to your vid) and decided to just swap out my left stick for a new one purely because of how easy these guides make it. Thanks a bunch!

This is amazing thank you for sharing. As someone broke my daughters right joycon. I was freaking out but put it in the drawer for a few weeks. I recently went in to GameStop they had said I can’t fix it. I knew he was wrong I didn’t want to argue with an incompetent person. So I did my own research that lead me here. You're a life saver! My left stick developed massive dead zones making it almost unusable. Thanks to this tutorial I was able to replace it very easily with no fuss. Now I can play without frustration again!
Finally someone smart enough to 'only' replace the stick.
Many people/guides suggest to also remove the shielding and unplug the battery.
Super inefficient.

@Danielle I think the lite is just cheaper. Alongside this, the big switch can connect to the tv and be used by multiple people at one. That’s really the only difference for me tho.

Got it working the second time putting it back together. Had issues with the power button and D pad the first time. I just made sure to tighten everything really well and also took some extra time to make sure I got as deep of a connection with the power switch’s cable as possible.
A tip for the cable,
Get it plugged in as good as you can, before placing the actual power button module on its slot.

I’ve just had exactly the same bloody problem with those flimsy ribbon cables, took me over an hour to finally get them all in place.

You need to include unplugging the battery. These instructions bricked my switch. And no, I'm not an idiot. I repair electronics for a living. These instructions led me to believe it wasn't necessary.
yesssssss!!! . . .i did it and nothing went wrong, everything working as it should and i didn't even need to calibrate the stick, it is working perfectly and the guide definitely helped me
Bought a kit with 2, followed the instructions to the T and it didnt work.. Replaced the it with the 2nd one in the kit and it worked immediately. Thank you so much!!

Great video with clear instructions. Only tip I would add is to make sure you recalibrate the joystick after replacing it.

I just fixed my left joystick watching this tutorial and it was moderately easy, at times I felt like I was gonna break something and had to redo a few steps because the ribbons didn’t make good connection. But I can’t believe how much money and effort I saved by doing it myself. Thinking of replacing the right joystick because it’s looking a bit worn off before it breaks

BE CAREFUL! What is not shown in these videos is the removal of the speaker. My Speaker for the 2020 switch lite was sottered in. I removed it thinking is was the same as the video IT WAS NOT. Now my left speaker does not work because I don't have a proper connection. I suggest when you remove it. LEAVE IT PLUGGED IN. Joystick fix worked but now I don't have left speaker.
