- My Nintendo Switch Lite, that I had for over 3 years, finally got drift in the left joystick (aka Joy-Con Drift). The best way to fix drifting is to open up the system and replace the joystick with a brand new one! Let's fix two Switch Lite systems!

THANK YOU my drift has been absolutely abysmal its made playing literally impossible but now i can go back to hyperfixating on botw
Joy con drift is a serious problem for all switch gamers. But if it happens on a switch lite this video can help fix it
I am not a good technician and don't even know if I should I can't repair it by Nintendo cause it's real expensive
hmm accurate observation sir
I was told fixing Joy-Con drift on Switch Lite is impossible but luckily you showed how it can be done, like how you proved Trap Team can be played just by having so many Food Fights.
I was crying over this because it started when my friend played a game on my switch. thank you
Totally going to try this. My switch lite has been drifting and it's so frustrating.. Thank you!
Nice! Just follow the guide in the description and take your time and you should be good 👍
did it work?
how did it go?
I also bought my switch in 2019 then it broke and i got a new one and the new one got drift ty.
I never really come across joycon drifting on my switch lite but on my normal smash bros switch I definitely have it annoys me very Easily
My switch lite got a similar issue to yours, this time the up and down of the left stick is like sticky or something in 2D games it works fine but in 3D games is annoying, my character either wont go forward or back or just stop halfway :(
I wanna repair it by myself but I remember when I broke my PSP while trying to replace the joystick. How much do you think this would repair cost? Or how much would you charge to repair this? Thanks and nice vid btw!
I'm not a professional so I wouldn't want to be in charge of repairing other people's systems. If you have a repair store near you they should be able to assist you.
I bought my switch lite in june 2022 and once i learned about joycon drift i was so scared of using my switch lite but i think if i get joycon drift ill buy a normal switch and transfer my data from my switch lite to my new one if i get joy con drift but i am a casual games i play on my switch for 1-2 hours a day so i dont think i need to worry that much
Hey Mikeinoid, I know that you haven't talked about it since but, do you still have Doom Stone, Rubble Rouser, Spy Rise & Magna Charge?
If you do, I wanna combine Tech & Earth together but, Idk who to combine.
(Spy Stone, Spy Rouser, Doom Charge, or Doom Rise?)
Just do all of them, you don't have to choose one 😂
Hey ! So am very scared to damage the ribbons and I don’t know if I should apply force or not. Honestly, the whole process as been stressful because I want to be very carful, but things are not popping of like in your vid. Any advice?
Just follow the guide I put in the description, it should tell you how much force you should put. As for the ribbon cables, just don't pull them on the ribbon part as they can rip.
Did it work? I am very interested, because I fear my Switch Lite will need a new Joycon in a short time too.
if im too "lazy" to replace the joy con, can i just use a third party gamepad? will the built-in controller automaticly turn off if the switch connect to an external gamepad?
Is this a permanent fix or will you need to replace these every few years, or are there any replacement joysticks that don't have drift?
Not sure yet since it hasn't been too long since I repaired the Switch Lite. If I had to guess, there will a time I will need to replace the joysticks again.
@@MikeinoidI know it's only been 4 weeks but how's it holding?
I can't do this. My joystick is sticking & it was a gift. I'd rather just get a Nintendo Switch. I can't do the operation because it's too hard.
When I got my lite a friend wanted to take a look, first thing he did was spin the 2 sticks as hard and as fast as he could like he was playing Mario party to save his life. Really fucked me off.
Damn that sucks!
Thanks bud. Soothes my anxiety. Just bought a lite yesterday... forgot about this issue.. you said it took around 3 years to develop drift?!
3 years for me, at least. Depends how often you use it.
@@Mikeinoid Traded the lite in for an OLED and got an actual controller. Seeing the sheer amount of issues I just couldn't wait for the return window to expire lol
The drift in Lite using the a card (just like VK showed) would fix the problem? Or the stick must be replaced always?
It's best to just replace the stick
This is THE reason and I mean the only reason I refuse to recommend the lite to anyone ever. Shame too,as otherwise besides the subpar screen it's a great handheld.
My switch lite case has a stand and I use the pro controller. Also I use the touch screen too to avoid using the joy cons
Smart!!
So u can use a controller 2 play switch lite ?
original analogic joycon fit on switch lite too?
I believe so
my stick got drift while playing pokemon s/v too. only difference is, mine is the RIGHT stick. so now, the camera constantly moves down while trying to catch and battle pokemon
Oh no!!! 😭
@@Mikeinoid Hopefully my brother, who is going to school to be an electrical engineer, will help me out. the problem is, he's only in town for a couple more days and I don't know how fast Amazon is gonna ship me one when they prolonged their shipping times
@@jack-o4160 Sounds good!
How did the right analog replacement go? I’ve got to do mine as just switched it on and had the same camera angle issue, it’s making running around my game a pain in the ass.
@@stephaniemiddleton3740 It went good, but he is highly skilled. If your not, like me, id try to look up a video with step to step instructions and follow closely. You may be puyting your console at risk but thats only if you screw up. Shouldnt be all that hard of a replacement since there is no soldering to do (im fairly positive)
Well that is fun
What am I supposed to do about stripped screws 😭 I was doing everything right until the daughterboard and two screws were stripped I can’t get them out
Be careful with them. There's some methods you can do to get them out that you can Google.
oh god that's still an issue for me especially since I haven't played my switch in a while
I have joy con drift in my right stick is it the same for both?
The replacement joystick is the same. The process to replace it will take longer to do.
I replaced the joycon and when I put everything back together my screen went black. I can hear the switch is on but the screen is black. I need help I don't know what I did wrong. Any suggestions please?
You may need to go back and see if the screen was accidentally unplugged.
Nice video, now my switch is as dead😂
💀💀
Yikes! I have my Switch Lite since June 2022 and after watching this now I feel very cautious about it
Welp, either this or get a stand and any switch compatible controller. Basically making the lite a permanent table top console.
I would do this but I'm most likely gonna fuck it up even more but my dad a mechanical and he was able to fix it
Nice!
I wish I spent more to get the normal switch even though I won't ever use the tv part (I literally cannot see far enough) I blew on it but it's still being dumb so I'm gonna try a can of air then.. this daunting task (my switch is 3 years old)
My switch lite started to drift last year and i haven’t played it since its been gathering dust😅
Damn that sucks!!
I did a joystick swap 3 times on my switch and it still has bad drift and directions won't work. I bought cheap replacements and expensive replacements and nothing fixed it. I even did a full system reset and calibration..... still garbage.
Damn that sucks. Might be something wrong with the boards or something
@@Mikeinoid found out how much of an idiot I am. I kept getting distracted and picked up the old joystick...... fixed it. Smh
This thread made my evening, thanks 😂
I just replaced my right joy stick a month ago cuz my cat knocked my switch off my desk and everything came out just fine.... Till now and i got drift :/
Damn 😭
Mikenoid could do a video playing skylanders on Xbox series x
th-cam.com/users/shortsjCedLUjvmO4?feature=share
Thanks I saw that before
Any skylanders for xbox one it has compability with series x
@@mimQ123 Yup!
I replace mines and it keeps drifting up and wont move any other direction
You may have to go back and make sure the joystick was inserted properly.
@Mikeinoid I did but i think the left bord might need to be replace
I don't think I can do this.. I'm too scared to cause even more damage.. :(
You got this!!!
No soldering? 😲
Nope!
@3:46 “check the collaboration” 🤦🏼♂️ I think you mean calibration……
I did say it a little weird 😂 At least the subtitles knows what I was saying 👍
Are you excited for The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom?
Yes I am!!!
FUCK YEAH
Hell yeah!
NO
Quality test? You are too optimistic bro. The type of joysticks in the joycons have existed for decades, it’s a mystery to literally no one that they drift after a while. Nintendo would have known this was going to be a massive issue with 0 testing. They would have known the same way PlayStation and Xbox know about it. They just don’t care, they don’t care that it’s a massive issue. They continue to use this stick design because they are cheap. Any day they could change this and swap it for a different joystick design. They got sued and didn’t change it. They don’t care. The dollar they save per module is to tempting for them.
see i didn’t know that my joystick was drifting n i thought i broke my nintendo
No... I can't do this. I have zero experience with electronic. I will destroy my Switch Lite in the process.Maybe there is a Gaming Shop employee who will do this for a normal price when I ask nicely.
I don't recommend trying it. My Switch is completely F'd now
It’s definitely not for everyone to try to attempt.
