I'd provably like the 3.8k crossover. With the pointy dust cap, it provably does the mid treble really nice, and the High treble can sparkle really nice since it doesn't have to do a lot of midrange. I know I said I wouldn't, but I got 2 of the Studio 520c's to try as a stereo pair when they were on sale for 85/each. What made me want to explore it was, I thought they might be nice for people who live in an apartment, since the 530's hit can hit freakishly low. Plus I can try them as surrounds w/x3 S570 in front. I can get an other nobsound switcher and mix and match the HF/LF against the 590's for fun. (Bi-amp) Also I want to try them on the floor, vertical, pointed up like stage monitors.
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 Both of mine are still in the box. I'm thinking of putting away the Studio 5 stuff for a while and set up my Infinity R162's in the front, with JBL Studio 220's or 130's as surround channels.

About to review the Denon and I tell you what the synergy is amazing!!! Blew me away !! Even pairs up better than the Marantz Pm8006 which ow now my 2nd favorite intg amp with Triangles 'Under $2200 U.S. Yeah Denon can handle those low impedence dips down to 2.5 ohms @135hz the 40th love that power my last video review of Galion I showed a small measuring chart of the 40th '
Every smalliah amp I hook up has the midrange sounding thin- I measured these speakers down to 3.5ohms !! I 2nd person in the U.S. to own them I have had almost 2 dozen Amps hooked up to them ' But I should of said a powered sub does help alot even having fuller mids eapically with small amps ' Yeah a small amp will drive and speaker but top will be hot 🔥 Most modern tube Amps sound to Bright with 40th I have the New Galion TS-120 SE I was hoping for good pairing it was OK Thr Marantz PM 8006 is thr nest amp pairing I have had so far that amp can draw up to 60amps which is crazy and it has a meaty 625va toridal transformer once you hear the 40th with a powerful amp that has synergy you'll be like Damm ! Marantz helps 40th imagine like crazy and Marantz built in Japan not China ' I wish Triangle would have made these bi ampable like Antal ! The Dynaudio towers I just reviewed are easy to drive than 40th I love the 40th also just compared them against my Dynes in recent Video

The Triangle 40th have amazed me but with stands that mount the speaker down helps out alot and total cost is 3k U.S. and built in France with Triangles other High end speakers . for the price you can't go wrong with Genese Trio yoyt Marantz will pair up good with Triangle I know theirs been alot of hype around the CSS DIY but i have never tried them but you might want to check with someone who has a pair of the CSS to see if they pair up with your Marantz good or not Synergy is huge But the Genese pricepoint is very good that speaker use to sale for alot more money really depends on what you like ! I have been told the CSS do like alot of power to drive them properly . Hope this helps

Hello Tee Jay, I like your reviews very much, I'm more an enthusiast than an audiophile, but I consider me very picky about purchasing, of course I enjoy a great sound and bettering the system everytime is a great satisfaction and joyful time. I got the Audiolab 6000A directly from UK as in Mexico the options are limited or too expensive. I used that with a pair of triangle Borea 3's and I could not be more happy after having Elacs (debut, unifi 1 and 2) so I decided to go with the next Triangles, base Comete or 40th's (preferrably 40ths) but as I said, they are more expensive because purchasing from Mexico so I'm looking to take the best decision for long term system, I saw in your review that maybe at low volumes the Audiolab 6000A would be sort of underpowered in the bass with the 40ths. If I already have a subwoofer, do you think that combination would be a better option than the regular Cometezs? I would really appreciate your feedback. Thank you.
Both the 40th And Ez Comete like power again at lower volumes but with powered subs you wilp be good to go ! The 40th is about 10 percent better than EZ comete or a level above the 40th are amazing ! But to some people it may not be worth the extra money @ a thousand bucks more but to me it is - And the 40th is built in France the EZ Comete built in china hope thos helped . If you have anymore ? I've had the bro3 for a couple weeks now and have a bit of a dilemma. I'm most impressed with the bro, and would happily hand more money to triangle if they could give me a bro3, with everything improved. I feel like that's what the comete ez and 40th are after. Is that fairly accurate? If the 40th were $1500 I would already have them here, blind purchase no questions asked. I realize I can get the comete ez around that price, but I don't want to purchase them, and later wonder what meat I left on the bone going the extra large financial step to the 40th. My problem is I don't care to spend money for cabinet jewelry and 40th rose gold name plates. I could care less about aesthetics and wondering how much of the extra $900 or so is going to jewelry or sound. I know you covered this, somewhat, but are you left feeling they are a bit overpriced? I have no doubts you love them and don't regret the purchase. I understand what you love about triangle sound as I'm hearing it with the modest $400 bro3 I just got. I'm hooked and ready to move up, I just don't know if I can justify the $3k (with the stands)
40th Comete is on another level than the EZ Comete atleast 10 percent advantage 1st the Cabneit just dont look better its built better with more internal bracing The crossover has been upgraded as well with better componetes and desighn also a in house new desighned midrange driver . Also the tweeter is actually Magnessium dome tweeter thats stronger and lighter than the Titanium done tweeter EZ Comete the Magnessium tweeter is not only smoother sounding its more detailed . The 40th in built in house at Triangle in France I uploaded a video in My description box where the engeeners build the speakers and all of them are tested before they go out for sale. I to expected the 40th to be more about Jewelry but glad i was wrong but remb the higher price you go into speakers the law of dimisnsioning return plays a huge Factor but to me the 40th is a high performace speaker even at very loud volumes they maintain their composer Z reviews just reviewed the 40th and he had the regular EZ comete also he went Crazy over them 😆 but far as bang for the buck bro3s are an excellent choice
Dam i wrote a book also 😆 Yeah Eric i like the 40th alot if i didn't I would have sent them back . Do you live in the U.S. ? Of so many dealers have these speakers that you can test out at their show room i know their almost sold out they only made two thousand of them i think Zero fidelity going to review the tower version maybe wait on his review I want you to be well informed by many people just not me
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 thank you for the detail and taking the time! I always appreciate the more said the better. These are complex things (speakers) with the way they sound. They may only be a handful of components but they sure vary A LOT. I'm convinced you're my man to trust because you really like the JBL studio, and the triangle, and so do I. I like that smooth and full sound. I also don't listen to 'audiophile' recordings so having a speaker with last word in detail doesn't concern me. I need it to sound good with everyman type of recordings too. But I want refinement and quality doing so. I would have no problem with looking at the towers, but I've gone that route in my small 10x14' listening room and it doesn't work as well as bookshelves and my REL t7x stereo pair of subs. I bought the bro3 on Sean's link a few weeks back when he posted a $399 sale price and now I'm hooked. I'm in the USA too.. anyhow I knew you were always a huge fan of triangle and now I see why. The bro3 are really freaking good so I'm ready to invest much deeper into triangle. Sound approach has them $2500 (with those $500 stands included) until the end of July, so I guess it may be time to raid the piggy bank and pony up for these things. Last question. How would you rate the amount of bass on the 40th compared to the bro3? Like I said, I've got a pair of rel subs to handle 80Hz or below without any question, but I am curious if the 40th have more similarities than differences with the bro3 or if the bro3 are a tad bass heavy in comparison. I'm in a dedicated room and have them about 2 feet from the front wall and have luxury of placement options, aside from the smallish dimensions of the room of course.
Lots of good feedback I needed Well far as bass at low volumes When it comes to the 40th they don't Have a lot of bass extenstion like My Polk 703 or My Kef Q350s but the Bass is more accurate and faster in my smaller room both the Kef/Polk overloads the room with to many bass nulls . Whats crazy is once you turn the volume up it wakes the 40th up sort of speak like people said about the Bucharts . The 40th can really rock out at loud volumes with out being Fatiguing with most my amps and with your room size I feel the 10x14 won't give the 40th a lot of room to breathe and soundstage won't sound as Wide As you know I have 2 listening rooms midfield thats treated and living room thats untreated on purpose and in my living room omg did the soundstage open up not just a little bit but alot ! But i had same expierence with bro3s What amp will you be using As you know i have a lot of amps and the 40th do scale up tremendously with better amps The 40th does have a lush midrange what gets me is i never thought a horn desighn could sound so silky !! I will never sale them ! And the midbass punch is excellent !! Far as Sound Approach their an awesome company i have personally talked to them on the phone , And they have a return policy also just in case your not happy with them . true story when i 1st hooked them up and played Daft punks cd all i could think of was 'HIGH PERFORMACE' I use the 40th for music/movies sound Great on both . Wished you lived in Kentucky I would let you try them out
If you set your speakers up with 14ft wideness you'll get better soundstage than setting them up on the 10ft wideness you want that openess the widest wall
In terms of helping with cabneit residences yes ' but far as overall sound that dang 40th is a different animal and it gets loud but bass rolls of fast below 50hz but midrange tonality my goodness man but the 40th does like real power !! Most pep will want a powered sub with 40th Drops to 2.5 ohms small weakamp will sound thin!!

I have the 520c also still in the box 😥
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 Both of mine are still in the box. I'm thinking of putting away the Studio 5 stuff for a while and set up my Infinity R162's in the front, with JBL Studio 220's or 130's as surround channels.
Tee Jay , fantastic review , I been waiting for this , can I ask you what your speaker set up , as in distance apart , how far you sit from them , distance away from the front wall, thanks
I meant to mention this in the review yes i keep the speakers atleast 2ft away from any wall boundary and the speakers sound best being 6-8 ft apart great ?
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120 hi , thanks pal , keep reviewing , cheers
Nice review! Great music as well. Any chance you could CHK out Br02? Many hv done Br03 but not this one, supposed to sound a bit better overall but weaker bass to some. Cheers. Comete based on you description fits my preference really well not to mention it's fantastic looks but just over the budget tsk ...
You know thats a good Idea !!
I got the Mission 2 budget speakers on their way 😃 I will see what i can do Frances about the bro2 !
Good video! I love this speaker, as well. Really musical.
As an FYI, the name Comète is pronounced 'Commette', as in Corvette' (it's a French company... the accent on the E makes it a 'short e').
Wish i would if known b4 the video !!
I got hit hard with copy right on this video surprised you found it .
Going to have to redo the video 😥
Sounds like you would enjoy a singer I like. Madison Ryan-Ward.
Hello Tee-jay..I like your great passion for hi-fi music and the way you do reviews.Like you I have a Triangle Comette 40th paired with a Rega Brio amp(Smsl v1se dac)..I'm interested in your opinion on the new amp which I would take..which is better for them Denon pma1700ne or Audioilab 8300..many thanks in advance..greetings from Croatia!
Thanks for the reply..I think the Denon is very well made..I can't wait for your review 👍
Never mind comment on your dac I 4got you have the smsl ' the built in dac of denon is just OK I almost wished the left it out !! 😆
My new favorite speakers. I disagree a little about the power. Some guys have run these with SET tube Amps and sounds great
Every smalliah amp I hook up has the midrange sounding thin-
I measured these speakers down to 3.5ohms !! I 2nd person in the U.S. to own them I have had almost 2 dozen Amps hooked up to them '
But I should of said a powered sub does help alot even having fuller mids eapically with small amps ' Yeah a small amp will drive and speaker but top will be hot 🔥
Most modern tube Amps sound to
Bright with 40th I have the New Galion TS-120 SE I was hoping for good pairing it was OK Thr Marantz PM 8006 is thr nest amp pairing I have had so far that amp can draw up to 60amps which is crazy and it has a meaty 625va toridal transformer once you hear the 40th with a powerful amp that has synergy you'll be like Damm !
Marantz helps 40th imagine like crazy and Marantz built in Japan not China ' I wish Triangle would have made these bi ampable like Antal !
The Dynaudio towers I just reviewed are easy to drive than 40th I love the 40th also just compared them against my Dynes in recent Video
@@tee-jaythestereo-bargainph2120Gotcha. I driving mine with my completely recapped 1959 Bell Carrilon el34 integrated tube Amp and they're unbelievable and it drives them unbelievably. But this guy has some serious iron in it and puts out a little more than it's specs say. I'm in love
Sounds amazing with my 1959 Amperex Bugle boys D getter 12ax7s along with my Teles. With nos mullard XF2S. But also sounded wonderful with new stock EH 6CA7
Howdy TeeJay!! Excellent review. I own the 25th Anniversary Comètes fed via Marantz PL 6005. Maybe you can advise me. I was looking into CSS DIY or the Comète 40s. However, Triangle is selling the Genèse Trio dit 999 Euros!! ( about 1100 USD!!). What do you think ? Thanx, Bill from Northeastern France !!
The Triangle 40th have amazed me but with stands that mount the speaker down helps out alot and total cost is 3k U.S. and built in France with Triangles other High end speakers . for the price you can't go wrong with Genese Trio yoyt Marantz will pair up good with Triangle
I know theirs been alot of hype around the CSS DIY but i have never tried them but you might want to check with someone who has a pair of the CSS to see if they pair up with your Marantz good or not Synergy is huge But the Genese pricepoint is very good that speaker use to sale for alot more money really depends on what you like !
I have been told the CSS do like alot of power to drive them properly .
Hope this helps
T-J good video my friend keep it up..

@@reptidan i love the sparkos op-amps so much !! I removed the one i had in the Aune X8 and bought 3 more because my Burson composer dac takes 4 of them and Wow the clarity/resoulution is outstanding !! Now i need to order 1 more for my Aune x8 I use the Aune in my living room setup i need to find a?poeer supply for the Aune that isn't over 200-bucks awesome budget dac for sure !
I want to add the the Comete 40th Anniversary have beautiful tonality. Highs are very clear and very detailed , but they lack attack that my PMC TB2i have at the same 76 db volume. I prefer a more forward highs on these speakers, can't get everything in a speaker with these specs and looks.
Which speaker cables are using with yours? thanks...
Yeah my Doge 10 tube integrated i reviewed has that upper forward midrange like my Yamaha AS-1100
Makes for a very good combo espically running KT120 power tubes .
Cables i Normally run Audioquest but i got some new Clarity cables that are pretty awesome espically for pricepoint
And I use either Morrow/bluejean cables from my Burson composer dac / with my dac i run 4x Sparkos SS3602 dual descrete op amps much cleaner and more open than the burson vivid opamps
Hi thanks for the good review.
Had you tried the triangle Genese Trio and maybe compare them with the 40th anniversary
Would love to !bug no never tried them

Hi Tee-Jay, how is the 40th Anniversary playing on Doge 10 in class A mode? Do you get enough power? Do you prefer to listen in class A or AB with the 40th Anniversary?
Thats a great ? , Yes class A power is more than enough to drive the 40th but class AB Bass is a little stronger and a little bit warmer overall I prefer the class AB with the 40th

Just hit me up

@steveee2511 these 40th will need a powered sub they do roll off hard at 50hz but upper bass and lower mids punch are great very open sound ' they do sound great on Jazz '
40th Comete is on another level than the EZ Comete atleast 10 percent advantage
1st the Cabneit just dont look better its built better with more internal bracing
The crossover has been upgraded as well with better componetes and desighn
also a in house new desighned midrange driver .
Also the tweeter is actually Magnessium dome tweeter thats stronger and lighter than the Titanium done tweeter EZ Comete the Magnessium tweeter is not only smoother sounding its more detailed . The 40th in built in house at Triangle in France I uploaded a video in
My description box where the engeeners build the speakers and all of them are tested before they go out for sale.
I to expected the 40th to be more about Jewelry but glad i was wrong but remb the higher price you go into speakers the law of dimisnsioning return plays a huge
Factor but to me the 40th is a high performace speaker even at very loud volumes they maintain their composer
Z reviews just reviewed the 40th and he had the regular EZ comete also he went
Crazy over them 😆 but far as bang for the buck bro3s are an excellent choice
Dam i wrote a book also 😆
Yeah Eric i like the 40th alot if i didn't I would have sent them back .
Lots of good feedback I needed
Well far as bass at low volumes
When it comes to the 40th they don't
Have a lot of bass extenstion like
My Polk 703 or My Kef Q350s but the Bass is more accurate and faster in my smaller room both the Kef/Polk overloads the room with to many bass nulls .
But i had same expierence with bro3s
What amp will you be using As you know i have a lot of amps and the 40th do scale up tremendously with better amps
The 40th does have a lush midrange what gets me is i never thought a horn desighn could sound so silky !!
I will never sale them ! And the midbass punch is excellent !! Far as Sound Approach their an awesome company i have personally talked to them on the phone , And they have a return policy also just in case your not happy with them . true story when i 1st hooked them up and played Daft punks cd all i could think of was 'HIGH PERFORMACE'
I use the 40th for music/movies sound
Great on both . Wished you lived in Kentucky I would let you try them out
If you set your speakers up with 14ft wideness you'll get better soundstage than setting them up on the 10ft wideness you want that openess the widest wall
Does the Comete EZ No Rez mod bring them closer to the Comete 40th in terms of sound?
In terms of helping with cabneit residences yes ' but far as overall sound that dang 40th is a different animal and it gets loud but bass rolls of fast below 50hz but midrange tonality my goodness man but the 40th does like real power !! Most pep will want a powered sub with 40th
Drops to 2.5 ohms small weakamp will sound thin!!
Cheapest amp I have owned that can drive 40th with good enough resolution is the Marantz PM8006 hell of synergy

Still enjoying my 580s but man that 8300s + 40th anniversary is s nice combo!
The 8300a having a total of 8 output transitors (BJT) instead of 4 like most amps the 8300a size really give it an advantage with dynamics and Attack the notes of instruments really Pop with snap !
The 8300a is almost hyper detailed but backs off just enough not to sound aggressive .
I told Zero fidelity the 1st day I got the amp it reminded me of the Luxman sound i didn't mention this in the review but the amp is so clean and balanced sounding then I found out that Jan Erthner not only builds audiolabs he builds Luxman as well when I found that out I was almost impressed myself 😆
