Some of my friends felt like I wasn't clear enough about whether or not I prefer the Trios or the Signature Thetas. So I'm going to use this as an opportunity to be very clear about where I stand: I prefer the sound of the Trio's over the objectively superior Signature Thetas, and if it were my money, that's where I'd spend it. Why? Because as good as the Signature Thetas sound, the Trios are easier to work with, sound better with a wider variety of music, and do a better job of getting out of the way of themselves. The Signature Thetas take on more of a high-end sound. They're objectively great, but they draw attention to themselves. Don't get me wrong though -- pair them up to a good tube amp or a high-end SS amp... and you'll be enjoying some great sound. But at the end of the day, I'd go with the Trio.

I know this is an old review but I'm still playing catch-up. I bought the bro3 a few weeks ago when you posted that $399 sale price and now I'm a triangle super fan, like Tee-Jay 😆 I'm confident I want to elevate my game up the triangle range but unsure which direction to take. 1. Genese 2. Comete ez 3. Comete 40Th anniversary I love the bro, but want better cabinet, better components to fix some shortcomings. I am a tone freak, that's probably why I love triangle. Still I wish they were a little more open and forward and clearer up top. Should I stay away from genese and go 40th if I want the best version of the bro sound that I can get?
Thanks Sean, another great review! After watching this, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and go for the Genese Quartet. Hopefully, it keeps the same qualities with a little more oomf
A great choice! As I understand it, its the same general sound - only ya get more of it! I recall asking the owner of Triangle what his personal favorites are. While I won't give away his answers, I don't mind saying that the Quartet is a speaker that he is very, very fond of.
Nice review, keep up the good work! I'm from France, so I could get them for a lot cheaper: you can find them in stores for 800euros a pair. It's only my opinion, but with such a price tag, they could out compete the S400.
Great review! I know you weren't completely happy with it but I still found it informative and useful, especially because I'm considering upgrading my Bro3s to these or the S400s. I love the signature of the Bros but I do feel like I want something a bit more refined. The thing I notice the most about the Bros that I don't like is that I hear the cabinet a lot. But I love their signature, just would like a more polished sound. What would you say has a signature closest to the Bros, the s400s or the Genesee?
Thanks Matthew. The Genese will be more identical, although still notably different (more refined, neutral in the mids, more revealing, with stronger bass output).
Excellent review, Sean. Those are beautiful. I’ve got a feeling these are gonna sell a lot of units after this vid, especially at that price. Speaking of awful couriers, Fed Ex tried to leave my Pendragons at the end of my driveway, and you know how much those weigh. I luckily caught the lazy and sneaky SOB, and had to argue with him to let me use his cart to bring them into my living room, which is right inside my front door. I realized a huge gash in the box was probably why he was trying to make a quick getaway. I asked him to wait for me to check, and they were luckily fine.
Viewy McViewFace I should’ve have been clearer in the fact that I borrowed his cart to get em into my living room, and that I’ve got a ramp leading up to my front door anyway. It took no more than a few minutes. Door to door, not door to end of driveway. I mean a few feet from the street is where he was gonna leave em.
@@NickP333 Yesterday, a driver left a package out in the rain. While it was raining. Despite there being a sh*t ton of dry space by my front door. Another great review. Thanks for putting the time in, your reviews really are a step above most. I'm looking for bookshelf speakers for my home office, but it's only about 10x12 feet. Would these be too dominant for such a small space? Thanks again!
Very thorough review and well done. So glad I got the signature theta which I couldn't a-b to the genese trio. I got my thetas on an extreme super covid 19 sale here in France during the early days of the lockdown. I think the dealer was trying to liquidate their stock and thought that covid had the potential to go on and on forever and put them under. The result was I got my thetas for essentially the US price of the genese trios!! Great deal indeed. I concur that they take a tremendous amount of time to break in but now that they have they are remarkabky wonderful speakers and work fabulously with my tube Mono block amps and pair of rel t7is.. Very high end sound on a budget in my special case. Please would you consider doing reviews of the ultimate triangle monitors the Magellan duettos as well as their direct French competitors the focal kanta 1s? I really appreciate the quality of the French build and watched a triangle factory tour utube video that impressed me. As a final aside , triangle breaks in all their Magellan line of speakers at the factory in a dedicated isolation room so that are plug and play. I guess that they want to avoid complaints from less than patient customers saying goddam it I paid a fortune for these speakers and they sound broken out of the box!

Do you have any experience with j m reynaud speakers ? The bliss jubilee specifically. If so how would you compare them to the Triangles ? Keep up the amazing job!!!
Another One, as DJ Khaled would say! I love you Sean, good to see you back, and seeming hating the fact that you are...🤣🤣, Seriously though, IYO do think it better that a speaker be forgiving or revolving, and do you prefer "accuracy" or warmth. Thanks for all you do. PEACE
I prefer something that rides the lines between all o those attributes. Too much of any one trait is never a good thing to my ears, which is why I was particularly drawn to the Trio.
Look up the Savage Geese You Tube channel. Your opening shot was fantastic like SG photography.By the way, the new Wharfedale Evo 4.2 would be a great competitor to the Triangle. Tharbamar did a review of that today compared to a B&O at twice the price and the Wharfedale sounded better. Thanks, Sean.
Sir, would you think that your evaluation and particularly your gear pairing suggestions would hold true with other speakers in the Genese series? Like say the Quartet floor standing?
I'm going to audition the Triangle Lyrr, only because it is a french made hifi speaker than looks like its costs $20000 but you can find it for under $4000 a pair.
This is a really good review, Sean. As an aside, congrats for getting the pronunciation of the last syllable correct during the Final Thoughts section; it’s “ezz”, not “AYzz” ... the accent on the e is accent grave. Yes, I speak French, LOL. I’ve been considering the Gaia EZ for my system, but I’m going to ask my dealer if he is able to get the Genèse Trioin for an audition. He’s an enthusiastic Triangle dealer and I’ve auditioned the Gaia in his shop, driven by my amp. The speed and forward presentation sounded really good with my amp and the music selection I brought along. But I didn’t audition any larger scale, symphonic music; it sounds like the Genèse Trio might be preferable for classical. Thanks for this review.
I dunno. That Gaia looks like an absolute sweetheart. I'd say if you like it, go for it. The Trio won't be available to B&M dealers for quite some time.
From your very well done review, these sound to be exactly what I’m looking for. At the moment, a bit out of my price range... nevertheless, I’m seriously going to be considering them. So far, from my many experiences with monitors, I’ve either gotten far too forward of a sound, or just too laid-back. I like mostly warm sound, but most “darker” sounding speaks tend to make Metal or rock sound kind of boring. On the other side of the coin, Klipsch, make my ears bleed and are not my forte for extended listening. So... these seem perfect. Thanks for your review Sean... I must own a pair of these. Maybe I can sell off all my other speakers that I find mostly just mediocre sounding. 😃
If you are still looking, the black pair are on sale at Adorama for $549 each and free shipping and handling. Really want a pair in white, but debating at that price.
Intersting. I have the BRO3, during the review I said to myself "this is my next speaker". And then you mentioned that it does not have the midrange quality of the BR03. Which is why I love them.. 🤔
Sure is a beautiful speaker with great presentation, the dilemma here is that @ $1400 price range triangle also have the full range and highly reviewed BR08 speaker that also can be seen on the Adorama website.
I'd break it down like this: The BRO8 will have more bass, better dynamic output, and more forward sounding midrange. The Trio will sound warmer and more tonally accurate in the mids, the top end will be a bit more forward and refined, and the soundstage will be more focused with greater depth. Both are good values. It just depends on what you want.

I can really really appreciate this review. Here is why. There is another speaker out there that no one is talking about. It is almost sinful. The Canton Reference 9.2 bookshelf speakers. Just like the ones you are showing their 10-year old design. They are absolutely phenomenal for the money. In fact I'll make a statement that they are unbeatable for the money. There are 1500 for the pair, 25 lb reference German speakers. 4k MSRP. They have a ceramic tweeter that is so sweet it's almost unbelievable. Canton has been around for over 45 years it's a shame none of you high-fiber viewers are talking about them at all. They are on the accessory 4 Less website brand new. By the way their customer service is also phenomenal I've bought six or seven different things from them and they're extremely responsive and helpful. Curious to see if you, Ron, Steve, or Jay take action and finally get a Canton speaker in so you can spread the joy to be had at an incredible value.
Cantons gotta reach out to one of us bruh. I mean, I've closed the door to most reviews now. BUT, most of the other guys on this platform would be more than down to try em' out. Cantons just gotta want it.

I am using 24" stands with my BR03's. What stands did you use in your test? I am concerned that these stands might be too tall for the Trio's, since the tweeter will be positioned about 5"-6" higher than the BR03 when you combine the greater height of the Trio with the position of the tweeter relative to the top of the cabinets.
@@ZeroFidelity I think mine are almost 25" also, because I have my BR03's sitting directly on Acacia wood boards about 3/4" thick, and these boards are mounted to the top of my steel stands with Sorbothane vibration Isolation pads.
so my tv/stereo/avr/ vinyl room is 13 by 18 feet which raises the question if these speakers are enough for music and movie listening. So far, cant meld the 2 systems together. are quality, smaller speakers the solution?
I'd say the Genese Quartet would be the better one-stop solution. While I'm a huge fan of using two completely different systems... having both systems in the same room can be rather.... challenging,
I'm building a system with the Schiit Freya+ and either the Triangle Theta's or these Triangles. However I'm struggling to choose a power amp for this setup. Do I go a Luxman M-200 (will that have enough juice?) and perhaps bridge them when funds allow. Or do I go two Emotiva XPA HC-1 monoblocks? I can't listen to either of these amps in Australia so I'm taking a bit of a gamble here. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
Whether or not the Lux has enough juice depends on how loud you like to listen. Tonally speaking, I'd take the Luxman every day over the Emotiva. If you know you want lots of power, then I'd suggest looking into the Denafrips Hyperion as a product that has a sound that's "in between" Luxman and Emotiva.
Awesome review and comparisons. Like the way you cover so much in the shorts amount of time. This might be a great speaker for me as I like to listen to world sounds at lower to mid volumes. Now wondering if the M16 is similar enough, and would I miss anything if I didn't get the M106. The M105 was so full in the mid tones, and smooth on the highs.

Sean, anyone interested in the Triangle Genese Trio should act fast as it does not seem to be available in the UK or in the EU. The replacement Signature seems to be available in the UK for £2,750. Enjoy your videos so keep them going. Regards Daniel
Sean you are so right about North American packaging because I got an svs pb2000 and there was a huge dent in the back and a hole in the box. 🤦♂️
Many thanks for this great review! I have the Comete but have heard the Genese Quartet playing with a Musical Fidelity Nutube amp - that was magic! Now I am curious to try the Trio, they sell for the same pruce as the Comete in Sweden.
nice i was wondering why i sometimes prefer my cheap car system than my expensive audio speakers, and u explained it ...sometimes things are too analytical and reveal too much ...great channel very informative and fun to watch
This is one of your best reviews ever.
Adorama has some good price drops on Triangle..im loving the forward sound of my bro3s
Thanks! I couldn't resist and I bought them on sale in France.
I'm very happy, they pair beautifully with my Musical Fidelity A100 😉😊
Another great review, good to see back Sean
Would probably prefer the Signatures lol, but regardless, thoughtful, useful review as usual by the best audio gear reviewer on TH-cam.
I know this is an old review but I'm still playing catch-up. I bought the bro3 a few weeks ago when you posted that $399 sale price and now I'm a triangle super fan, like Tee-Jay 😆
I'm confident I want to elevate my game up the triangle range but unsure which direction to take.
1. Genese
2. Comete ez
3. Comete 40Th anniversary
I love the bro, but want better cabinet, better components to fix some shortcomings.
Some interesting design choices here - not completely novel but I'd love to hear these in a treated room. Thanks for the video.
Nick Pantazi into your living room? Fed ex is a door to door service. Into your house is not part of the deal.
Viewy McViewFace
I should’ve have been clearer in the fact that I borrowed his cart to get em into my living room, and that I’ve got a ramp leading up to my front door anyway.
Would have been too painful to carry the light package an extra foot? I know not everybody who delivers packages are this way.. but it sure can be frustrating to deal with all the same.
Nick Pantazi . Np Nick. A few feet from the end of the driveway is unacceptable. That's were the "free stuff" lives.

Yeah, man. There’s of course good and bad eggs in most businesses, and I’ve found most people are inherently good. I’m sorry about the package in the rain, man. I hope the contents were ok. Keep up the great job, Sean. Thanks!
Fantastic review. Thank you so much.
I have ‘em……no complaints whatsoever…thanks, Sean. Doesn’t hurt that l have them coupled with a micro sub…..magnificent
Nice looking speakers man! When you gonna actually mount those diffusers to the wall?!
Thanks, nice video. I like your approach, not superficial like many other reviews, makes sense. I may get the Signatures to a Croft integrated. Now between the Signatures and the Focal Elektra 1008 be2... did you compare?
When your pictures are better than the actual video... :D.
Sean, never have I once thought about your video quality, cuz your content is top notch.

What's your setup
Any chance you will take a look at the BoyuuRange A50 MKIII 300B Tube Amplifier. Interested in how you think it will perform with the Trio's compared with the IOTAVX SA3.
Hi Sean, what would be your personal choice favourite between these and the Dynaudio Evoke 10??👍
Ok, I set up a second system in my bedroom just like yours. I even put my gear on a coffee table like yours. Now you have your gear on the floor on platforms! I can't keep up!
Heard these at audio show and fell in love.
Another great review. Thanks for putting the time in, your reviews really are a step above most.
I'm looking for bookshelf speakers for my home office, but it's only about 10x12 feet. Would these be too dominant for such a small space?
Thanks again!
I believe he said that these sound very good at low volumes, so nothing makes me think that they wouldn't sound great.
My room is roughly the same (overall) size. Sounds brilliant in here!
Lucky Boy. Do they need the Rel's? Are they still on sale?!
@@jamesdwright imo all stand mount speakers benefit from subs. Go to homecinesolutions and click for a price quote.
Sean, you absolutely give th most detailed & brutally honest equipment evals I've ever heard! U mentioned 90s grunge on eval, may I ask what band/ recording u used??🍻🎸🎶
An ask. Could you please review PS Audio Stellar Power Plant 3?
It is not crazy expensive and I think it your opinion would be super valuable.
I really liked your review about cables.
Do you have any experience with j m reynaud speakers ? The bliss jubilee specifically. If so how would you compare them to the Triangles ? Keep up the amazing job!!!
Nope. Haven't heard those. Just the Twins, a long, long time ago.
Those really are beautiful. Great video!
But I can't put my beer on top of it.
But the upside is the wife is also not able to put flowers on top of it
🤣😂🤣😂🤦♂️
I like to use speakers for standing paint tins on while decorating, not for me I am afraid. If you but a speaker it should allow many uses.
@@assai74 lol
From the video quality, Sean is trying to do with speakers that Savage Geese has done to cars. And it's about time.
Thanks, Sean.
appreciate the comparisons made, thks
Sir, would you think that your evaluation and particularly your gear pairing suggestions would hold true with other speakers in the Genese series? Like say the Quartet floor standing?
Ugh I’m so excited to get mine. Adorama needs to hurry up!
Hope you like em'!
how do you think they will sound in a small room 9' by 12 ? Thanks and good review!
amazing. fill the space beautifully.
Great review! I may consider upgrading my Polk LSIM 703'S for this speaker! Thank you.
Awesome review Sean 👊🏻
We need more speakers !!!! Please make some more, there are not enough being made.
How many feets from the horn is a comfortable and coherent listen?
6-10ft for me. with floors, i could add extra 4-8ft, depending on volume
@@zstarwarsz Thanks!.
For the Trios, about 5ft. The larger Genese speakers may require additional distance due to the different Xovers.
I'm going to audition the Triangle Lyrr, only because it is a french made hifi speaker than looks like its costs $20000 but you can find it for under $4000 a pair.
What speaker stands were you rocking these with? Xtz a good pairing?
Q Acoustics stands (for the 3030i). A nearly perfect match. Yep. XTZ sounds good with them.
Zero Fidelity Thanks - my dealer is “resourceful” (and I’m in no hurry) so we shall see. I will also audition the Linton Heritage, I think.
Any chance you can review the "Definitive Technology Demand Series D11 Speakers" ?
Do you think the Luxman SQ-n150 would be a good match in a smaller room?
hi zero i like your reviews. could you please review the "denon pma-600ne" and then compare it to the "iotavx sa3" and "cambridge audio axr100" thanks
Yep, it's a great solution for somebody who wants a sound that's a bridge between both extremes. Hope you get to enjoy em'!
If you are still looking, the black pair are on sale at Adorama for $549 each and free shipping and handling. Really want a pair in white, but debating at that price.
Hi Sean, this speakers are going now for about 700 dollars now, are they worthy for that?
Intersting. I have the BRO3, during the review I said to myself "this is my next speaker". And then you mentioned that it does not have the midrange quality of the BR03. Which is why I love them.. 🤔
Never liked the old Triangles, highs were completely out of place. BROs are first that seem no-nonsense to me.
Same here. Sounds like they went for quite a different signature...
@@ZeroFidelity wow I got graced with a response from my fav reviewer! 🙂
But yes those are the choices to be made, also for whatever reason I always had a weakness for the looks of bookshelves speakers on stands.

@@ZeroFidelity thanks for the reply, interesting enough I've beaten it to death with the other reviewers and no one's making a move. Just for the heck of it. You should remind them :-)
@@ryanschipp8513 - Just reach out to Canton man. Sometimes it takes a consumer to move things along, as many times reviewers come across as though they want something.
@@ZeroFidelity they mainly distribute in Europe and Germany. Barely any distributors in the United States. Now you might say that the problem but I definitely don't think it is. Accessories4less always has stock. People in the US are missing the boat man. I own their vento 890. 2 and the reference 9.2. My good friend has the reference 3.2 s. They barely have a flaw. From top to bottom they're quite outstanding. Build quality is top-notch also.

Need speaker stands for trio. Any suggestions? Stands I've seen online have top plates that look too small for triangle genese trio.
24" stands will be fine. Mine were 25".
@@ZeroFidelity I think mine are almost 25" also, because I have my BR03's sitting directly on Acacia wood boards about 3/4" thick, and these boards are mounted to the top of my steel stands with Sorbothane vibration Isolation pads.
You think engineers wonder what people mean when they say quick bass? 🤔 I mean sound has one speed! So I’m really confused.
Name differs around the wourld. In Europe name is „Triangle Signature Theta“, RSP is 1,6k / 1 LS
Those are different speakers though. The Signature line is one above the Genese line in Triangles lineup. That is why the Thetas cost that much more
so my tv/stereo/avr/ vinyl room is 13 by 18 feet which raises the question if these speakers are enough for music and movie listening. We struggle with having 2 sytems in the same room, one my streamer, dac, preamp, amp and the other movie avr (yamaha 3050 ) 11.1 setup.
@@ZeroFidelity many thanks for the reply and I don't listen to it very loud so you've helped me decide :)
Awesome review and comparisons. Like the way you cover so much in the shorts amount of time. This might be a great speaker for me as I like to listen to world sounds at lower to mid volumes. So how do you think these would work with a streaming all in one box like a Bluesound powernode at the bottom end or up to a Naim Atom or Hegel 120 at the higher end for instance ? Thanks again !
That is a bad ass looking 🔊 speaker
Think going to chose the comete ez because I like a brighter sound and I have a 50l sub to compensate the low end...
Sweet! Enjoy!
I have Comete EZ, are these an upgrade?
Are those diy acoustic panels in the back?
Hi Sean. These or Dynaudio Evoke 10?
If I could only pick one, it would be the Trios. Not an easy choice though, as I really like those Evoke 10's.
@@ZeroFidelity Thanks. Which integrated amp under 1500 dollars would sound best with these or the iota stack
Question...how would you compare these to either SVS, DEF TEC or POLk bookshelves?
A higher performance tier.
Sean you should have at least replaced those solid jumpers with some decent wire jumpers. The sound would be improved substantially.
Do they make Active/ powered speaker ? Model ?
How do they compare to the Tekton Impact?
Buchardt vs delta?
Would you say the Genese is of better value than the Comete?
Absolutely.
