my guess is that while in lab testing like using root access to set clockspeeds manually to test the chip itself, SD8 Elite might have a slight edge over D9400 on paper, but on in actual day to day use, it's still down to the phone maker's tuning. like after having used multiple devices from various brand over the years, i notice that OPPO and Xiaomi devices generally tend to be a bit more conservative on the whole when it comes to performance, and take more care about keeping the phone lower temp, while OnePlus devices tends to allow the phone to run a bit warmer in order to get better gaming performance. this sort of tracks with their "target audience" as well. while oppo and oneplus are under the same company and runs similar software, they do have different "tuning profile" in my experience (for the lack of a better term). so even with the same exact chip, they won't perform exactly the same. i remember noticing this on the Reno8 Pro vs the OnePlus Ace (both with D8100) in performance comparisons on bilibili, and in my own experience when comparing the global Reno8 Pro vs the OnePlus 12R which also had massive difference in terms of how they tune the chip for gaming performance. i also have the Poco X4 GT with D8100 as well and again that performs quite different compared to the other 2 when i play Genshin. Mediatek has certainly done a great job with the 9400,as it offers great performance when it comes to GPU alongside a competent CPU all while running a little cooler, and since it will be notably cheaper to procure than 8 Elite, hopefully it will find a home in many of the "affordable flagships" coming in next year. All in all,its a very balanced SoC considering performance, features and price. As for Qualcomm's SD 8 Elite, its thermal issues were almost waiting to happen due to the sheer beefiness of all the cores and the fact that mainstream phones like OP 13 and Samsung upcoming S25 series will have relatively less beefy cooling solutions to keep the lid on temps.Having said that, the CPU performance headroom offered by this chip is huge,so more specialized devices like gaming phones with beefier cooling and larger form factor devices like tablets can offer the 8 Elite the opportunity to really stretch it's legs. Finally, while this is all good news for the Android world,I am really worried about Samsung's Exynos & Google's Tensor chips as they still seem content to stick with older approach when it comes to their chip designs.
Ever since I used dimensity 8100 and 8300, my whole opinion regarding Mediatek SoCs changed. Mediatek has been killing it for the last couple of years. That being said mediatek 7000 series is still shit though!
I have Dimensity 7050 and it's a decent option for someone who doesn't care too much about mobile gaming. All day to day apps work flawlessly and even most games run very well, you only can't max out some of the more demanding games but it's not a big deal in my case. The battery life is also pretty good and the phone doesn't get hot.
This test convinced me that the 9400 is far better! To be 45% more efficient on back to back benchmark tests says it all. Thank you for this comparison 🙏🏻
Actually insane that a lot of Tech Reviewers couldn't do such a simple [and balanced] comparison. You nailed it, Ash! Videos like this make paying for YT Premium worthwhile lol.
Adding Cpu throttling test from an app called "CPU Throttling Test" will help more to understand its cpu frequency drop when under load. Set it to 100 threads to get most throttling, mimicking most intensive work load for cpu.
If i may suggest, when using a thermocamera put a piece of black insulating tape on the part that you are measuring, reflective surfaces tend to diffract the IR rays and the measure result is incorrect, I've learned it at my expense where I work. In this confrontation the oppo phone is clear and reflective while the oneplus is dark and matte, so I would trust more the temperatures of the latter In any case, great video and keep up the great work

Red Magic 10 Pro'yu bekliyorum.
I would say the average user will find both of these exceptional performers with little to complain about. This test was about extremes, and they show the problem Oryon had in the X Elite; it has higher diminishing returns the greater you push it, and becomes inefficient compared to using less intensive tasks. So for gaming, it will need to be well optimised, either by the OEM or by the user. The player can easily lower the settings to get a more sustainable performance that will easily exceed FPS compared to running at max settings, giving a solid, stable experience. As a non-gamer either of these will be great. For people like me, these chips are overkill for my usage, and that extra power is really to future-proof the device, which is nice to have.
The camera features sound amazing! HDR video across all zoom levels will take smartphone photography to new heights. Dimensity 9400 seems very impressive in terms of processing.
Great review!!!! Oh dear Qualcomm might have another hot SoC like the original Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. I also did wonder when I saw the high clock speeds on the Oryon cores whether they would be less efficient.
Great test! I was especially interested in the battery test, and it looks like the Oppo Find X8 is more efficient, even with a slightly lower battery capacity.
Hey thanks for video well done... I would choose the OnePlus 13 as I don't game at all so I don't really care about that but that's great to see the D Chip has caught up and passed Qualcomm in some areas ... competition's better for us all.
Seems like Xiaomi 15 Pro is doing a better job with the 8 Elite which is a bit surprising to me. I get nearly 70% stability on Wild Life Extreme Stress Test. So lowest score is 4404. Highest score however is also lower with only 6397 which is slightly above the Mediathek.
It's really great that both Snapdragon and Dimensity have similar performance. This way, competition between the two keeps going, and each year both of them are forced to release really good CPUs.
I love that it can handle tri-fold smartphones! This opens up exciting possibilities for innovative designs and larger displays. The Dimensity 9400 by Mediatek seems very promising one in terms of processing tasks and games.

Dimensity 9300 (vivo x100 )user here
7200 and 7300 are good though
Roger that 🫡...itas a certified beast..@@Rngalmcfc
I have Dimensity 7050 and it's a decent option for someone who doesn't care too much about mobile gaming. All day to day apps work flawlessly and even most games run very well, you only can't max out some of the more demanding games but it's not a big deal in my case. The battery life is also pretty good and the phone doesn't get hot.
@@gigachad6318 Certainly efficient, but not really much powerful.
This test convinced me that the 9400 is far better! To be 45% more efficient on back to back benchmark tests says it all. Thank you for this comparison 🙏🏻
It's both better and cheaper than the 8 Elite
@@numalesoybea1348 yeah only issue is ai performance and driver optimization

In this confrontation the oppo phone is clear and reflective while the oneplus is dark and matte, so I would trust more the temperatures of the latter
In any case, great video and keep up the great work
Thank you Ash, great work and greetings from germany
7:43 nice testing. turns out, as usual, the Snapdragon uses more power and heat for its performance. I'd rather pick 9400 device.
Watch geekerwan this guy is not trustable
In his test's (which are more detailed) 8 elite uses less power runs cooler and performs better.
@@Shahzad12357 Snapdragon historically is faster but consumes lot more power and more heat. It is not all bad if device has very good cooling or external cooler, and makes the SD Elite is superior.
Great video Ash. Keep up the good work. Great choice going with these two phones.
Wow, this video was eye opening!
I thought SD Elite was way ahead of MT Dimensity, but I guess they're similiar.
Thank you for the video Ash bhai 🙏
Actually, snapdragon is behind mediatek.cuz of its shitty Oryon CPU cores clocked 0.5 GHz higher than Mediatek shows only 9% ahead.Even it's clocked higher than a18 pro still a18 pro destroys it by 20%
@@rohitsamanta1170 ??? A18 pro doesn't beat 8 elite in any way?
@@Shahzad12357 it beats Qualcomm in cpu by 20%
@@rohitsamanta1170 it doesn't 😂 what are you talking about 8 elite is like 5% slower in single core and 11% faster in multi core😂
@Shahzad12357 am telling about score 🤡
Great video Ash. Appreciate your efforts
Good job bro. Very well explained and executed.
Great video ash. The only thing u should have done was taken the same memory capacity variant of both phones so that it would have given the exact AnTuTu score difference between both phones
great video mate, keep up the good work. You are one of the few Indian tech tubers I am subscribed to.
Absolutely amazing comparison.. Thank you..
the performance is impressive, its literally 2x my oneplus 12 19 fps average vs 40 fps on op 13 on wildlife extreme.
It's in 22 degree ac. Lets see how well it performance outside

Red Magic 10 Pro'yu bekliyorum.
Thanks man. I always get the video from you better than any other tech reviewer.
Great video Ash!
Nice detailed honest comparison, keep up the good work
Great review!!!! Oh dear Qualcomm might have another hot SoC like the original Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. I also did wonder when I saw the high clock speeds on the Oryon cores whether they would be less efficient.
Another comparison in a few months pls!
when the phone is optimized with updates
By far your best video yet Ash, really well done. Great comparison
Great video
I wanna see that power consumption comparison when running some games and running social media apps
comprehensive useful comparison. of course everyone appreciated it
Good video, D9400 is going places with these specs!
Top notch comparison. Not surprised when it comes to Ash's reviews. Keep it up!
Great video subbed
I think Dimensity 9400 in Nothing Phone 3 gonna be perform better than any other Phones with this chip
OG for a reason, very robust testing, #30Squad
Really liked your video the way you have compared, so i liked and subscribed too.
I did subscribe its my first time here
Dude tells the facts
watched the whole video without skipping because it was that good but at 10:28 the clicks and bell sounds just ruined everything
75% stability is how much all phone with 8 elite have this test is BS
A lit comparison, felt like I time travelled to the old days of c4etech speed tests ❤
Amazing analysis Ash... Really appreciate the effort you put in the video.
Ash what a great video ! Thanks for presenting us the data which such level of details and taking care if the thermals
Love you for doing these types of useful videos
Good comparison, i hope u can make another comparison involving gaming, social media, media consumption, browsing, camera etc
Very nice comparison video. Tnx
It's really great that both Snapdragon and Dimensity have similar performance. This way, competition between the two keeps going, and each year both of them are forced to release really good CPUs.
I love that it can handle tri-fold smartphones! This opens up exciting possibilities for innovative designs and larger displays. The Dimensity 9400 by Mediatek seems very promising one in terms of processing tasks and games.
technically they're di-fold lol
Excellent detailed explanation🙌🏾
