- 7. Aug. 2010. Das braune Krokodil Ce 6/8 II 14253 zusammen mit dem Prototyp Ce 6/8 I bei der Fitnessfahrt in Erstfeld. Die 14201 wird auch Grossmutter oder Köfferlilok genannt.

Einfach grandios diese alten E-Loks, mächtig und erhaben!
Wunderschön, zu dieser Zeit hatten die Loks noch Ausstrahlung und Leben.
Ahhh, the old swiss electric locomotives are works of art! On second place comes our swedish ones with coupling rods, and the early german. Many thanks for uploading these superb clips!
You must agree that coipling rods makes the locomotives feel more "alive"? They also feel more heavy in that you can see them work to move instead of just rolling on the rails.

I thinks its also cool how so many designs added more weaker motors, while the Swiss design went with 2 super-large motors instead. It is also fun to watch the connecting rods, especially when theres more then one locomotive, and they're sometimes in sync, and sometimes one is up while the other is down.
@spajdude Thanks! You're right, you can see how the power is transmitted to the wheels, just like steam locomotives.

Da die Ce 6/8I fast gleichzeitig mit der ersten Ce 6/8II in Betrieb kam und die zweite Ce 6/8II auch gleich folgte, gab es mit der Probelokomotive ausser der Rekuperationsbremse nichts mehr zu erproben. Die manchmal sogar in der Fachliteratur erwähnte Bezeichnung «Prototyp» für die Lokomotive Ce 6/8I ist also falsch, denn die Ce 6/8II war von Grund auf eine Neukonstruktion.
Schau mal an diese aussergewoehnliche LEGENDAERE Doppeltraktion!!!

Anybody please tell me what are those thin pipes on the side panel above the wheels at 3:11, and those big covers covering the big wheels at 3:27? Pipes look like they are for taking a liquid outside the body to cool down with the fresh air, and those wheel covers looks like they have electric traction motors inside... Am I right?

@MrBerninabahn Sie ist nur rollfähig und kann nicht aus eigener Kraft fahren. Dazu wären wohl einige Arbeiten nötig und man kann auch nicht einfach die Ersatzteile von einer anderen Lok nehmen, da sie ein Prototyp ist...
Und als Krönung noch die Ae 8/14. Da kommt nichts besseres nach ... 😄
