For a free update, Chemical Reaction was actually really fun. The new unit is creative and fun to use, the new missions were good and the new gamemode is interesting, I hope they develop it further, I really can't wait for a full blown story DLC or the like.

Best thing is after the Klendathu disaster the Federation in the book literally uses gas as a counter to the bug holes, a way for a squad to quickly neutralise a bug hole without having to clear it or set up a defensive line to contain emerging arachnids

5:30 the accent of the Star Wars announcer is a formal Received Pronunciation English, the sort you'd associate with an Oxfordshire Headmaster or a WW1 Army General, which I suppose is why it was chosen as a large amount of Hollywood villains are English.
The voice you seem to be doing is some kind of odd Transatlantic erring towards Virginian or North Carolina sort of thing. More akin to the "old timey" movie stars.

The writing and humor in this game has already been on-point, but I knew this would have some particular gems just based on the chemical weapons focus.
It's pretty based of Terran Command to find a new use for all the agent orange reserves left over from Vietnam.

Obligatory book explanation: the M.I. in the book DOES use chemical weapons, but the nerve gas used by them isn't harmful to humans, but will kill the warrior and worker bugs. It also comes out as a black, oily, heavier than air gas that will descend down their bugholes, so they would toss an nerve gas bomb and then close the hole with an HE grenade

If you enjoy the transitioning from above ground to underground (and vice versa) thing Armies of Exigo was a fun little game that had that mechnic, though good luck finding any way to get it to run on Windows 10.

Okay, here's a thought. Reinforcements come down in waves. You have 1 minute between waves to call down dropships, and with the dropship recharge mechanic, you may have to choose who to call in and who to reinforce. Might have to only allow 1 squad to reenforce at a time per dropship. Or have something like 10-15 troops per ship. Some way to balance it out.

3:35 is what we call "environmental storytelling". That's why that's there. No words or dialogue are needed for players to piece together the context of the tests going on in those labs.

The bugs probably utilize some sort of pheromonal based communication system. There should be an upgrade or alternative weapon that basically uses fake-pheromone bombs to misdirect the bugs, at least temporarily.
I mean the snipers already have an ability that does that. Not pheromones but just a bait ability.

The game should honestly have a custom survival mode that lets you pick which bugs can show up and how many bugs should show up. Imagine being able to play against waves of tankers, or unending hordes of Warrior and Tiger bugs, or even just being able to say "no scorpion bugs"

It remind me. In Starship troopers book Mobile Infantry use special nerve gas to disable bugs but gas have no effect on soldiers. They use it against bug nests because cleaning with MI was very costly... Well to battle of Planet P every MI clearing of bug nest was complete massacre.

so I got the game for myself and it's way better playing for yourself and but of an unpopular opinion, the default troopers are actually viable. why you may ask? hoppers, with the priority targets available the default guys make good AA

When it comes to scorpion bugs, I would recommend halving their health in the files it’s not hard, also they did receive a nerf in range, but so did their counter, the rocket troopers making the nerf basically pointless
