I came here for a review for Square 😓 why was this a long winded ad for another product?

How do I find out how much the smaller terminal is without having to FaceTime or call?

Can I use this machine without WiFi? for example, connecting internally to my cell phone, as I work with a delivery system, so I'm always on the streets!

I was told by square that yes you can hotspot mobile data to the device to take payments on the go, I’m ordering mine and and can report back

Square Terminal, where everything is neatly packed into one mobile device vs non-mobile clunky multiple pieces of equipment. Also, it's illegal in many states to upcharge for card use. You can do a cash discount, but you can't charge for credit card use in my state.

What you are referring to is called "surcharging" which is illegal in some states. What we are doing is called "dual pricing" completely legal in all 50 states.

@@ChadThePOSGuyIt should show as a discount on cash payments, and not a charge on credit card payments. Trust me, I think it's a dumb law as it's basically the same as a surcharge but in reverse.

@@ReviewsAndHowTos there’s little technicalities that make it legal/illegal. That’s why we have an entire legal team on our backend that keeps up with those things

You cannot do a credit card adjustment for most states in the US. You have to just raise your prices across the board and offer a discount of cash transactions. You’ll get small business in trouble doing it the way you are.

ooh $880 on a $30k a month is nothing lol

If you're running 20% margins, in order to make $880 in profit you would have to sell $4,400 worth of product. You're wasting 4 and a half days per month by using square

1.7% in the UK, which is fine.

As a customer I've always hated and avoided gas stations that set two different prices for cash vs. credit. They don't charge you a CC fee when you buy stuff in the gas station, aka, snacks, etc. So, when I see this practice I am always very much put off and will take my business elsewhere. I subscribe to the notion that you should always make the transaction faster and less painful on the customer first, not you. Additionally at the station there is a hidden cost more apparent than at other places.
There are hidden labor costs to handling cash transactions, such as counting the cash, keeping the cash drawer accurate, handling and depositing the cash later. I'd be interested if someone did the costs of handling cash per transaction vs. CC. Especially these days with CC tapping the transaction takes far less time and is always 100% accurate and or correctable, whereas a cash transaction if the clerk makes an error counting cash back which a lot of people don't do either you've screwed yourself or the customer. So, for me, the transaction fee is worth the reduced labor costs of handling cash and ensuring accuracy. There is also the loss prevention risk due to theft, burglary, misplacement, etc. with handling cash.
