  • Take a closer look at Square Terminal by visiting square.com/go/terminal.
    Step into our hardware lab and learn more about Square Terminal, our brand-new debit and credit card machine. Hosted by Jesse Dorogusker, Square Hardware Lead, and Jessica Chobot, Nerdist.
    Square Terminal is your all-in-one device for payments and receipts. Take all types of payments, print or email receipts, and do it all in style. Pay one low rate for every tap, dip, or swipe, and get your funds as fast as the next business day. With no statement fees, setup fees, PCI-compliance fees, monthly fees, or hidden fees, Square Terminal is an entirely fairer way to get paid.

    Hey Square. I’m a vision impaired person who loves to go out and about I prefer to use card instead of cash as it is safer for me and more trustworthy. I can struggle using touch screen payment terminals when a purchase is over the tap and pay limit. How does your machine allow for a person who is vision impaired/blind to enter their PIN number without having to tell it to someone else, I.e. do you have a physical keypad that can be attached?

Unfortunately as technology gets better people tend not to think of every factor. This being an American product is a law suit waiting to happen.

    • @richardrocha

      This could be solved it the hardware could accept voice input, and the credit card used fingerprint scanning as a security measure. The later would be harder to implement, I guess.

    • @rishav4343
      @rishav4343 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The first one voice input is a security issue, someone will overhear it. At least there is some privacy when you press them in a physical keypad.

      No you didn't. When it comes to payments, the US is far behind. BUT, not as far behind as e.g. Germany where you need to have cash to make tons of payments at small businesses which are everywhere (such as restaurants). (Making matters worse, Germany charges huge ATM withdrawal fees.) The Netherlands wasn't bad (I lived in Utrecht for two years not long ago), but it's by no means cutting edge either, especially for a very small country that can upgrade its infrastructure far more easily than a huge country like the US.

      Our banks are still bitter about the move from quills to ballpoint pens. While the rest of the world was moving to chip and PIN, they steadfastly resisted. When they finally relented, they only implemented the chip and not the PIN. Now the existing chip and PIN system needs updating to stay ahead of criminals, but we're still not finished ungrading gas pumps from the old mag stripe system. Our banks would rather eat the losses from fraud than adopt modern security.

    (2) can we trace back to previous record (within the same business day) and print out the receipt for that transaction?
    (3) how do we close the balance for the business day and begin for the next?
    Sorry for me getting ready to buy the square without using it before. Hope it is not difficult to use.

Card usage or any NFC payment isn't really popular there although a few do use them. I just want something to track my sales and how much comes in every day since I'm not on location. Being able to track payments from anywhere around the world on the square app is revolutionary. I'm still undecided on the type of POS hardware to buy.

      The hub does need to be plugged into electricity when trying to charge the Square Terminal. However, your Square Terminal has a rechargeable battery designed to run for a full day of payments on a single charge. To make sure you are ready to take payments every day, we recommend you charge your Square Terminal overnight using the power adapter provided with the Terminal.
