You are the best! Saved me $160 (if that is the repair cost in 2024). My oven used a 3 pin plug instead of a wall mount switch. It makes it a lot easier for me, just remove the earth wire from the 3 pin plug and taped the earth wire outside the plug with electrical tape. So I skipped removing the oven step. SAFETY FIRST! Decided to try again with bottom element the next day. Tried again next day with both element + fan at 50C/15min interval until MAX. Then fix back earth wire and it works! My observation is the bottom element is the culprit with moisture. Heating only top element does not remove moisture on bottom element. Next time will heat the bottom first.

My oven is also standalone on the counter. I realize built-in ones save more space! I put a portable electric fan heater inside the oven and ran it on high heat for an hour and after this I was able to use the oven on a low heat without tripping. I then used the oven on the low setting for a while until I could increase the heat. Fixed the issue for me and much less dangerous
I had this problem many years ago when the oven was newly installed and hardly used. When the temperature is set too high, it will trip each time after running for about 5 to 10 mins. Because the trip do not take place immediately, one may try using your method of driving out moisture without disconnecting the ground wire. Simply set the temperature very low at start, eg 50°C or at a point which does not trip for longer than 30mins. Run it longer at each interval of say 30mins to 45mins. Then bump up by 25°C each time until it goes to max °C. I suspect it may still work if you just max at 100°C or slightly higer (above boiling point of water) The whole process will take longer but its safer. This can work only if the oven do not trip immediately after turning on. Did this before. It worked for me. Oven running good since then.
Just tried richardchee2454's method because my oven tripped out within 2 min after not using it for 12 months. Started with 50 degrees C on Fan Forced setting and gradually raised temp by 25 degrees C successfully every half hour for 2 hours without tripping. Stopped at 200 degrees C. So far, so good. Thanks.

thanks for this helpful video! Followed the steps to try fixing my Smeg oven, the first time round oven tripped again after I re-earthed it, only then I realised it was on "eco" mode. Oops! Did it a second time with "fan assist" mode and now it's ok. Helped a friend try to fix their Bosch oven - learnt from my previous lesson and made sure I set to "fan mode", however, the oven tripped again after re-earthing. My guess is that Bosch's "fan mode" for this particular model only uses a heating element at the fan, and so it didn't remove moisture from the upper/lower main coils. May have to try again! Wondering if its common that some oven models have "fan mode" that don't make use of the main coils?
When you say in the video that the oven is tripping, is that all of the power or just the fan as the fan in mine just keeps tripping and restarting when i turn it on

Hi, does this method also for RCD trip problem? I have Teka oven + microwave that almost never used. When I switch to microwave mode, i could normally used it but when switch to oven mode it instantly trip the RCD
Thank you for your question! Usually this is indicative that the coil which is live has shorted to the case which is grounded. The RCCB detects the current from the case through the ground wire resulting in the DB trip which protects the user from an electric shock. Hence removing the ground removes the safety and the case becomes live since it is shorted.
@@ThePunggolHandyMan In your video, even after heating up the oven to max, the case was still ‘live’. Does this mean, even after drying the coils, it is still shorted to ground but just not as much for it to be detected by the RCCB?
He bro, I have air fryer/oven and when it gets hot the vents of the fan inside expand and it lifts up causing it to stop the fan...so is it safe to connect the vents to the heating element with a copper wire in order to stop it from hitting the fan?
When you say moisture in the coils, you mean within the heating elements? Surely this would read as closed circuit when testing the element contacts and earth?

Just a month ago, I got an electrician to fix the oven tripping. He rewired the oven and it’s working now. Im wondering if the rewiring will cause electrical hazard?
the case goes live, but the connection to earth causes it to trip after a few microseconds. Disconnect the earth wire stops this happening. He's overriden the safety to get the oven to dry itself out@@akes4995
Pls, I would like you to clear my doubt on another oven issue. I just bought a 3 chamber oven for bakery project. Everything looks good but each chamber has a small hole in the rear side. I would like to know if these holes will pose a problem in my baking process . If yes, what will you suggest I should do to solve this issue before I actually start using the oven? Most of the deck ovens i have come across don’t have such holes. I am afraid to have heat leakage . Thanks for your helpful reply
Hi well I'm not sure about individual ovens 😅 I'm sure the designer of these products have put in a lot of thought into the design including the small holes which may have a purpose in temperature regulation, ventilation or airflow. My reccomendation would be to check with the manufacturer😀
bro, my oven still trips after following your procedures. However I left it over night to cool down before rewiring the ground wire. Whats the next course of action?
Don't touch the oven, yes, but what are the chances the oven housing is making contact with some other appliance? Is there a chance it could be somehow shorted to a nearby sink, plumbing, etc? I know it likely shouldn't but there are some dodgy installers out there.
Tha k you for your comment! The reason I made this video is to show how it can be done safely, as there are worse videos which do not highlight the dangers of attempting this procedure. There are countless what ifs and I can't possibly cover everything in a short you tube video. As always, use your good judgement and always be safe If in doubt, get a pro.
Well if there is a short to the case, there would be current flowing through the ground. The RCCB detects the difference in current and trips, as this is a condition which indicates a fault. By removing ground, the RCCB will not detect this difference in the ground wire and won't trip. This enables you to run the heating / drying cycle in the oven
My oven tripped once I operated it and the microwave oven at the same time. Since then the breakers tripped when I switch on the oven. Could you please tell me if this method work for my oven?
5 mins ago my cooker tripped all my stuff I flipped the switches and all was good except the cooker which tripped them all again when I switched it on its been fine for past 3 yrs no clue how I can't cook Xmas dinner 😭
@@ThePunggolHandyMan I've come across it twice, usually the breadmaker is left unused for a long period and the element absorbs moisture. Most people would throw it out, but using your method it's an easy fix. The first one I did was on a circuit without an earth leakage breaker. The 2nd one I just kept selecting bake and resetting the breaker till it worked. :)
For some reason this vid is entertaining probably because of the test pen buzzing. But other than that wearing electrical safe gloves would be safer I think
Thank you so much for the video. We followed your method and recommended timing for each temperature. It worked well immediately for at least 15mins at various temperature (180-210), after ground wire was reconnected. We turned off the oven and took an hour break. After the break, we turned on the oven at 180 deg c. at fan (3D hot air) position. However it tripped after 5mins. I’m wondering what might be the problem and if we should re try the process. Do you have any recommendations for this situation? Thanks in advance.
The real question is, why should this be a common problem? Ovens are known to be installed internationally, US, Europe or elsewhere. Is it due to the Asian practice of installing the hot stove over the oven that somehow resulted in condensation of water droplets on the inner metallic surface of the oven, where the wiring is located?
Professionals dont dry it out for you. They replace the element. we dont wanna face the same customer a few times making customer think we are doing trial and error work.
Well this video was shot at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. And it was government regulations to wear a mask in a client's home. As most of my videos are shot in real settings I don't want this to be Exhibit -A when I'm charged for breaking the law.
I don't recommend this. Too many things can go wrong and it's not a hundred percent fix. Going by Murphy's law, eventually someone will be killed. Sometimes it's the terminals having problem. Very risky because it's connected by hard wiring and i suggest using wago which should be a lot easier to handle. What we used to do was DISCONNECT MAIN POWER. Disconnect heating elements and check if the heating element is the issue. You can also measure the resistance from the heating element and use P=VI to know if the numbers are reasonable. We will usually buy a new part to have a more guaranteed fix or some DIYer will bake the heating element in another oven. Even so, still very risky, because if the amateur, ignorant or inexperience user forgot to disconnect the main power, it could still mean death. Best advice is not buy such a large oven that has to be hardwired unnecessary, and switch the oven on occasionally to expel the moisture
Hi! Thanks for rhe feedback! The purpose of this video is to highlight the risks with attempting this procedure as there are may videos online which show how to do it but do not demonstrate the danger. So I'm providing info that should someone want to DIY this, they should be aware of the risks involved
Is not moisture. Is the oil accumulated at heater area. After not using for sometime. It get accumulated. Always, clean up (including the heater element)when not in use. Also in this video, installation is clearly not compliance with safety requirement.

Can i use a industrial hot air gun to blow at the heating coils till they are red hot color then try on the power back on again?
Err I don't think that will work
Hi I had a professional guy check my oven tripping. He did as u mentioned and advice for 3 days I on temp slow bring it up. However after 30 min running it off by its own. Fine. But while cooling it trip the circuit. I try to on the circuit it keeps offing. Only when I off the 3 pin switch I can turn on the circuit
The guy said my element is spoiled. I have either change the element $300 or buy new oven. What is it advise
Anyway thanks for your video
How about those with digital selection knobs where the power has to be on before you can select the temperature? My Mayer has to be on before I can set the settings.
Use a wooden rod to poke it
Thanks. This method worked for me..
Good job!
Solved my problem, thank you!
My oven trips the circuit breaker as soon as I plug it in, even without turning it on.☹
Thanks for the video...
I have the same problem after pouring boiling water in the trader below. Is it Okay to leave the door open and let it dry by itself.
Usually a short means it is faulty. Pouring water may have damaged your oven
My storage water heater tripped the circuit breaker similar to this oven, can I solve the problem by this technique?
Lol no! This is a dangerous situation. Please don't use the heater. Removing the ground from a water heater is a fatal mistake
Hi I just got new oven and after 15 minutes the heat goes off then I turn up heat it goes back on then after 2 minutes off again do you have idea what problem is
Might be a thermostat issue
Hi, love your videos, keep it up bro.. anyway wanna ask, if it still trips eventhough we had disconnected the gnd, whats the next step?
Does it trip even when ground is disconnected? Or after doing this procedure
@@ThePunggolHandyMan Did what you advised, my oven now up and baking.. thanks bro..
Glad it helped! Wishing your oven many more years of delicious baking!
Just a month ago, I got an electrician to fix the oven tripping. He rewired the oven and it’s working now.
Im wondering if the rewiring will cause electrical hazard?
I'm sure he did it professionally.
what's the voltage of the casing when doing this method?
It varys depending on the fault. But i don't have the number off hand
Why would the casing become live when ground is disconnected? Equal potential? Or because of the leakage current thats in oven?
the case goes live, but the connection to earth causes it to trip after a few microseconds. Disconnect the earth wire stops this happening. He's overriden the safety to get the oven to dry itself out@@akes4995
i tried. it's work! thanks!
You're welcome!
Thank you.....👍👍👍👍👍
Did it work?
Thanks so much.
Will this method work if my oven trips ground fuse after 15 minutes of being on
you can try. works 70% of the time
Great content man seriously
Thank you for your support! Great to see everyone enjoying my content
bro, my oven still trips after following your procedures. However I left it over night to cool down before rewiring the ground wire. Whats the next course of action?
Then your oven has served its last days.. sorry but gotta get a new one
As always, use your good judgement and always be safe
If in doubt, get a pro.
Why disconnect the ground wire . What’s the theory ?
Well if there is a short to the case, there would be current flowing through the ground. The RCCB detects the difference in current and trips, as this is a condition which indicates a fault. By removing ground, the RCCB will not detect this difference in the ground wire and won't trip. This enables you to run the heating / drying cycle in the oven
My oven tripped once I operated it and the microwave oven at the same time. Since then the breakers tripped when I switch on the oven. Could you please tell me if this method work for my oven?
Microwave oven is not the same as convection oven so I don't think it will work. You might need a replacement
My stove only has a plug in outlet to the wall it doesn't have those extra wires.
@@yolodolo9143 the wires are in the plug, you have to open the plug to access the ground
Is it okay, if I don't have a contactless test pen? I have the normal ones.
Yes it's fine. Just poke all surfaces before u touch them
@@ThePunggolHandyMan thanks for sharing this video. I followed it and my oven works now!
That's great! Leave a like and Subscribe! Hopefully u find the channel helpful!
works like a charm !!!!
Good advice thanks
Glad it helped!
Thank you very much sr
Most welcome
5 mins ago my cooker tripped all my stuff I flipped the switches and all was good except the cooker which tripped them all again when I switched it on its been fine for past 3 yrs no clue how I can't cook Xmas dinner 😭
Well it's protecting you from electrocution! Hurry call a handyman or buy a new one!
Hi bro, i tried your method but it’s still trip after like 10 secs. May i know if there is any other ways? ;)
May be a different problem that is a
Causing it.. might need a pro
This problem also happens with bread makers.
@@FixTechStuff really do tell me more!
Risky, but worth it if needs must!
Wearing rubber gloves is safer.. The constant beeping sound gives me great anxiety. You may forget the oven is live and accidentally touch it..
For some reason this vid is entertaining probably because of the test pen buzzing. But other than that wearing electrical safe gloves would be safer I think
@Kenzo9063 thanks for your comment! yeah but not many people own electrical safe gloves here.. I'm showing how to do it safely without
Saved an oven. See if I can save another one.
Yes please re try the process and give ample time for the dry out. However if it still does not work then you gotta call a repair man
The real question is, why should this be a common problem? Ovens are known to be installed internationally, US, Europe or elsewhere. Is it due to the Asian practice of installing the hot stove over the oven that somehow resulted in condensation of water droplets on the inner metallic surface of the oven, where the wiring is located?
Not really. I think it has to do with our climate
Worthy my subscribe
That's awesome ! Thank you so much for the vote of confidence!
Professionals dont dry it out for you. They replace the element. we dont wanna face the same customer a few times making customer think we are doing trial and error work.
was it so necessary to make your video with a nappy on your face??
Well this video was shot at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. And it was government regulations to wear a mask in a client's home. As most of my videos are shot in real settings I don't want this to be Exhibit -A when I'm charged for breaking the law.
Can i get ur no.
I also stay in punggol
You can follow our Facebook for info
Christ, they used tape.. terrible
Yea I know right
Why the mask dude?
Sigh.. the number of times I explained
Only cowards wear masks for the sniffles
Does it trigger you?
@ThePunggolHandyMan no but at least I know you got the clot shot and don't like having freedoms.
It's just a piece of disposable fabric.. maybe it was government regulations at the time? but yea you don't have to be rude.
@ThePunggolHandyMan so because your corrupt government said so you just do it? This is why all non-white countries have never experienced real freedom.
