Chase really brings it on this one. Her voice is like honey on a buttered biscuit to this old southern boy.
I so hear you. She makes you stop what you're doing, sit down and drift away.
Chase's voice is like a finely tuned machine: when she sings it seems so effortless, but her vocals show restraint and nuance. The vocal "machine" is just purring. She's even singing sitting down! She could probably do it just as well standing on her head. F & F are lucky to have three vocalists of the caliber of Chase, Sammie, and Maggie. They each bring a distinct vocal talent to the group, not to mention the harmonies from the Fossils. When all meshes together vocally like their cover of "Telling Me Lies", it literally makes my spine tingle. Thank you all so much for sharing the joy and inspiration of your musical talents!
I totally give it up for the ladies, they kill every song! But after reading through SO many comments here, I have to give a small reminder shout out that TIM was singing wonderful harmonies on this.. as well as top notch keyboard! I'm sure no one missed that, Tim... And you do make it so easy to overlook your leadership and contributions, lol... But great job!! Hats off!! 😊

I used to listen to this song on Todd Rundgren‘s “Something/Anything” album when I went off to college in 1972. I can’t believe it’s been 50 years! Sounds as good now as it did then. Beautiful song and well done!

Yes! I went off to college in 1972, too. I hadn't even heard of Todd Rundgren! This song seeped through the cinder-block wall from the stereo next door. Now 50 years later, it makes me very nostalgic. Chase's voice is soulful and expressive, appropriate for this kind of lost-love ballad. < sigh >

The lovely Chase really delivers on this song...and why are we not suprised...what a voice, smooth and flawless! Of course the guys in the band provide the base for her to soar sonically, as they provide the professional musicianship to make a complete musical package. Wow. Once again this group is beyond wonderful. I've been following this group for many years now. Chase just gets better and better. I see and hear her age like fine wine. Chase has developed into a beautiful, talented singer who has become a gorgeous, beautiful, and sexy young woman. I still hope to see these guys perform live, someday, near Colorado.

I would in no way diminish Tim’s voice and especially his overall skill musically and as a producer, studio guy. Plus a silky high voice great guitarist keyboard etc but this young lady’s voice had a timbre and tone that is definitely next level to me. I know she carried those low harmonies with other girls too. To do crisp in pitch turns as well as wonderful word projection without sounding forced. I truly would rather listen to her and this group for that matter by a mile than most modern music. There are lots of talented well produced folks that I love most because they are very original and write their own music. It’s rare that I like a cover group or singer of any kind. Linda Ronstadt comes to mind as far as taking someone else’s song and actually making it better. I’m just glad F and F are out singing playing really quality music.

I grew up in the 60s and 70s and I was aware of Todd Rundgren but I never really listened to his music. Because of F&F's covers, I am now a Todd Rundgren fan. Great job y'all.

Tim got to meet Todd backstage at a Daryl's House show last year.
Todd posted F&F's cover of "We Gotta Get You a Woman" on his Facebook page a couple years back.
Chase once again nails it!! Her voice is so clear, true and strong, yet so smooth and rich. She surely has a God-given gift and it's so nice to hear her using it!! Having an alto voice myself, a beautiful and rich alto voice such as Chase's is always appreciated!! Absolutely phenomenal cover of this not-heard-enough song from Todd Rundgren. Another great job guys!! Keep up the great work and we'll keep listening. Enjoy hearing that conga drum too!!
They have amazing talent! I agree that Chase and all of them have God given talent but the dedication and many hours of training have a lot to do with it too. They make it look easy but we know it's not. That's what freaks me out. I had just enough training to realize how difficult their level of performance might be. Chase, in particular, has serious power behind that beautiful voice. More 70s stuff! Love it.
One of the things I love about Foxes and Fossils is that whether it's one of them, or a group of them or the group as a whole, they are so, so talented that it will be worth your while to stop and listen and this is no exception. I can't say 'I LOVE it' enough. Chase has one of those voices that I could listen to for days and the guys are all just spot on as usual and so tight playing together. This song is 50 years old and it sounds fresh as yesterday. Great Job.
I was a huge Todd fan back in the day. I still listen to his old albums regularly. This is a beautiful cover! Chase, you’re amazing. You complement Sammie and Maggie perfectly, and you’re incredibly strong in your own right. Great arrangement.

When you cover a song like this you either make it your own or nail it. Not only do you guys nail this and all your other covers but literally make most of these songs BETTER! Its a hobby group. Did their first live shows in 5 1/2 years last Dec. No plans to tour , hopefully an occasional show.

I wonder how many of the commenters here are musicians themselves. Probably a lot. I am a decades-long professional musician (bass, guitar, keyboards, vocals.) I’m an arranger, and I have a master’s degree in Composition, and I’m a big fan! You have something special. I hope you keep it going (and do more old Todd songs occasionally.)

Chase singing lead on this song and Love is the Answer is absolute gold. Her lower register is amazing. Now add Can We Still Be Friends, Just One Victory, Hello It's Me and the topper A Dream Goes On Forever and you've got a Todd Rundgren songbook that will be played by fans forever. Thought of one more "Wailing Wall" one of Todd's most heartfelt ballads.

You guys love Todd Rundgren songs. No wonder! He didn't know it, but he wrote them for F&Fs. Chase has such passion in her singing, and the harmonies, no matter who is in the mix, are always outstanding. I almost closed my eyes, listening to this, so I could concentrate on how sad and tender the song is, and how well you understand it. The next time I listen I will. As always, terrific!
