This scene is so powerful. Sly really went all-in with this film. This film features some of the most heartfelt and most passionately acted films. Sly should've received an oscar nomination that year.

people think Paulie's an asshole, but he's a realist.
also, go for the one in the middle.

Paulie is a hater and ungrateful mean prick bastard who was really a burden and useless throughout the whole series. Even if he is being real in this scene but overall, he's exactly what I said. I think it was rocky 3 when the bitch was getting wasted and mad at life cuz he didn't achieve anything and he was trying to fight rocky. Then rocky had to tell him that he had nobody to blame but himself for not achieving shit in life. I had a friend just like Paulie and some cousin's like that. Guess what, I'm glad I got rid of them. I been happier since. Who needs envious shitty people in their lives. Paulie also made rocky broke and treated Adrian bad. Fuck Paulie!

This scene from the movie was unforgettable and very emotional. The beast that was inside Rocky was a combination of grief and anger. For him loosing Adrian was difficult because she was such a big part of who he is, her love and unconditional support gave him the strength and power to win those fights. When a loved one dies the pain is unbearable but as long as you keep them in your heart the memories will always stay alive.

As he put it, "We fill gaps." To lose someone who has completed you and who you are for almost thirty years? I can't begin to imagine that kind of hurt. So when he goes on to say "I didn't know it was supposed to be this hard. It wasn't supposed to be like this." I lose it every time.

Sylvester Stallone was overlooked at the 2006 Oscars for his excellent script for Rocky Balboa. This scene is also proof that with the right material that suits him, Sly can act!
This is one of the best scenes in all of the Rocky movies. Rocky is all heart...

Man I remember watching this in the theater when it came out after I had gotten back from over seas because my father had passed.
And I saw it with an old female friend of mine that have never seen me cry or anything, but when this part came out and paulie says
"Are you mad cause Adrian left you?"
"She didn't leave paulie, she died"
    My heart sank
Then the crying monologue happens and I just lost it.

Sly can def act. The end of the 1st Rambo movie was amazing. He's also got tons of gut wrenching scenes in the Rocky franchise. Ppl don't give him a chance bc he's muscular & he's got the issue with his lip/jaw (which he was born with) ... sure, he's got tons of over the top scenes to his credit, but that shouldn't hide the fact that when it comes to making real connections with ppl though his characters, the man is great.

Funny thing is when Sly first came on to the scene a lot of people thought he was gonna be another DeNiro or an actor that was gonna be a great dramatic actor example lords of Flatbush, paradise alley but he wound up doing more of the action actor but the guy could still always bring a dramatic scene to a movie that could make you shed a tear

0:54 I think that Paulie is fully awear that Adrian is dead but is still haunted that his only sister is gone. In a deleted scene paulie is mourning for Adrian and says he misses her which shows that he still fully remembers her but doesn’t want to let that out. Ironically paulie has one of the best character development

He felt guilty even being with Rocky when they visit her grave. He sad as much "You treated her good!", he knows how bad he treated her, he felt unworthy of mourning her, his only sister.

You know i find the various struggles Rocky encounters in all the films so relate-able to, its something i can understand as an average Joe. Oscar awards are mostly given to all these actors that play artsy fartsy roles that only the wealthy seem to relate to or care about. Thats why i rarely take the oscars seriously, for rich people by rich people. I really hope Stallone wins for Creed since for once a character than I actually can relate to gets recognised.
