    I love the philosophical aspect of Rocky Balboa. I love his wisdom, his grit, his strength, his kindness, his endurance, perseverance, his cred, his honor, his humbleness and his passion to always do what's right... that's what makes Rocky Balboa so great.

    One of his best acting scenes ever. Truly a pinnacle moment in the Rocky saga. Encapsulates the entire purpose of the message of Rocky for those who have it in them and can see. The Rocky movies were never about boxing.
    Those who really resonate with the message of it understand the obviousness of this.

    A friend of mine once said that the older the character Rocky gets, the wiser he gets. When you look at his character arc, that's absolutely true. He may have had to leave more and more things - especially loved ones - behind over the years, but one thing he definitely picked up along the way was wisdom.

    " It's your right to listen to your gut, it ain't nobody's right to say no after you earned the right to be where you want to be and do what you want to do!"
    Period!! One of the best moviequotes ever. Love Rocky!

    This scene reminds me of my dear late father , after he was told by his employers he wasn't up to the job anymore,...I job he could do with a blindfold on in his prime,... I job he'd done for nearly 40 years,....but old age and ware a tear on his body had took their toll.........my dad fell silent in utter devastation for a whilst the news, and at the realization he wasn't up to the job, or needed anymore......I shall never forget that glazed look in his eyes,... And the overwhelming sadness that engulfed my dear dad that day.....it haunts my memories to thisday,...and my dad was never the same again......like an old fighter being told it's time to hang the gloves up....

      Quotes like that are from people who are not educated up to their intelligence. Some of the most intelligent people I know were never officially educated and say some of the most profound things with their limited vocabulary. On the other hand you can have people that are highly educated but low intelligence. They usually say the dumbest things in the most sophisticated manner.

    I'm still surprised that Rocky passed all of the medical checks. In Rocky V they told him that the damage to his brain was permanent. And I guess 25 years later it healed?

      In movies you can always change the outcome of something.. 😎👍

    • @InfernosReaper
      @InfernosReaper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a misconception that brain damage is permanent in that you're 100% guaranteed to always be impaired, because brain cells regenerate so slowly that for a long time doctors thought they didn't all.
      It's true that if enough damage is done, the brain won't really be able to recover and get functional enough. However, the thing about the brain is that if the damage isn't too bad, if ya keep using it and keep trying, there's a good chance you can make at least some workarounds happen and you'll regain a good bit of functionality.

      Could barely read in the first movie, got a title shot out of nowhere, got a 2nd title shot after retiring and won, had a long career becoming an iconic household name, got to be friends with 2 Creed's, had a kid that was only kinda bitchy and moderately successful, mostly happy marriage. This guy performed way above his ability. All because he was lucky enough to have a face that had no problems catching every punch ever thrown within 50 feet of his head.

    This commission is the nanny state in a nutshell. "You can't have a Big Gulp because it's not good for you." "You can't have too much salt because it's not good for you." "You can't have a gun because you might hurt someone including yourself." Rocky is right in this scene. This type of nanny statism isn't what the Founders intended. The Declaration of Independence says that we have the right, as endowed by God, to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness just as long as we don't infringe on anyone else's rights through force or fraud. According to this commission, Rocky passed all of the tests expected of him but because boxing may not be good for him, they denied him his license. That was wrong of them. Plain and simple.

By the way, I'll take your word for it though, but he's the advisor in R5 that tells rocky that Paulie has Power of Attorney, right? Also a poorly acted scene. haha. Commission should have just explained why they did not approve his boxing license despite passing the tests. They did not clarify their decision. Just tell them rocky you are over 60 years old your heart and body are not up for the punishment a boxer in his prime will do to you....which is something our tests can't judge, but we as people do.
